《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Fifty-six

"Lucinda, are you crazy?"
"Wanna bite?"
"Y-you're real?"
"Get well soon love, can't wait to punish you."
"Who's Harry?"
"So you're the girl who went missing for days?"
"I'll kill you!"
"What are you afraid of?"
Death. Just the thought or even the mention of it can turn your whole world around. It's the ugly truth, when life is a beautiful lie. Some people hate the idea of it, while others accept it that death is written in their fate. In the Bible, the wages of sin is death. But why do innocent people die everyday, while the evil and unjust ones are out there, alive and still causing chaos? Why didn't they die instead of the innocent ones?
Why wouldn't it be like in those fairy tale books where the hero would always win, the villain will always fall? The answer is simple, life isn't a fairy tale at all.
When I was young, my parents never let me out of the house, telling me that it's a dangerous world out there. I never believed them, thinking they were exaggerating it so I wouldn't dare take a step out of the house. Now? I believe them, and I wished I had listened before it was too late. It is a dangerous world.
"Lucinda."
I felt the darkness envelope me in a tight embrace, welcoming me as I continue to fall into the endless void. I shouldn't be with my delusional mother in the first place, I should've stayed with my father. My sanity would still be with me. I shouldn't have challenged the demon, should've left when I had the chance even if my mother wanted me to stay. Stay in hell. This shouldn't have happen, everything shouldn't have happen.
"Lucinda, wake up."
I suddenly stopped falling into darkness, to what seems like forever, until I felt myself being pulled back up by an invisible force. Bright light suddenly appeared above me, blinding me until I was pulled towards it. My lips parted as I felt something warm entered through my mouth, filling my body.
It was life.
The first thing that I felt was pain. Pain all over me, especially on my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes, the lids feeling heavy as I scanned my surroundings. It was dark, the ground was moist and it smells like something died in here. I was no longer under freezing water. That's when it all came back to me like being hit by a volleyball. Matt, the gun, blood and a floating head.
Remembering the gruesome image, I can feel bile rising up to my throat. Seeing Matt's head floating above me was something I can't erase from my mind. I want to sit up, but I can't. I tried to move my arm, or my leg, but not even my fingers will move. It seems I have been paralyzed. The beating of my heart quickened when I heard a faint growl.
What the hell was that?
Another growl followed, this time it seemed near, my eyes widening in alarm. I have been through alot already, still this made me quiver in fear. If somebody would ask me what fear is, I might give them a straight answer to what it is and how it feels like.

"I thought you were dead."
I snapped out of my thoughts, my nerves jumping all over the place when I heard a voice. "W-who's there?" I questioned, eyes fixated on the dark, waiting for someone, or something to come out. Another growl came, and this time, light footsteps can be made out. I gasped lightly when I saw something lit up above me, it was four candle sticks. And it lit up when no one strike a match.
A big black dog emerged from the darkness, the candle light made it possible to see. What captured my attention is that the dog was staring at me with it's red eyes, eyeing me like I was it's dinner. And it terrified me alone. The dog started to bark at me, it's sharp teeth showing and rabbis dripping down it's jaw.
I almost screamed out in total fear when it ran towards my way, when it reached me, the dog turned to black smoke. Shock is written on my face as I watch the dog turn into the last person I wanted to see now. His black eyes stared down at me with no emotion, the scars on his face was gone. His clothes looked new, no blood staining them, and his hair had grown longer. Harry Styles is standing above me, a smirk gracing his face.
One thing ran through my short-circuit mind, the devil is back.
"Harry." This made his smirk go even wider, "Hello, sweetheart. I never thought I'll be this close to you again." He suddenly kneeled down to my level and eyed me with his now green eyes. I don't know whether I should be angry or happy that he is here. "W-where have you been?" I questioned weakly. He shrugged, "Around. But I never went away, I just sat back and watched you." So, he's been watching me and I never knew.
My face twisted as I felt pain shooting up on my shoulder again, reminding me that I've been shot by a lunatic. I don't know if it was the trick of the light, but did I just saw sympathy in those eyes? Those eyes that watched himself kill people with those bare hands? Of course it would be the trick of the light, no way this man would pity me. I don't need his sympathy!
"W-what are you doing?" I asked, surprised that his hands reached out to touch my wound, hissing when he pressed it hard. What is he trying to do? Can't he see he's causing me pain? He eyed it for a minute.
"That f.ucker," I heard him mumbled before looking up at me, "This might hurt, a lot." He grinned at the last part, wait what's going to hurt? I let out a yelp out in pain when an invisible force tried to yank the bullet out of my shoulder. I turn to face Harry in anger, but he didn't notice, his eyes concentrated on what he was doing.
Tears started to form in my eyes, some already rolling down my cheeks at the intense pain. I screamed when the bullet was pulled out, Harry holding it with his fingers. The bullet was coated with my blood, oh god, I felt my face pale. Blood started to drip down my arm. The next thing the devil did was something unexpecting, and disgusting.

He leaned down, face close to my wounded shoulder. "Try not to scream," He uttered softly, but you can sense amusement in his tone. I covered my mouth when I did, his tongue felt like acid as he was licking the wound. What the actual f.uck?!
My hand found his shoulder and gripped it hard, my knuckles white, as I continued to hiss loudly. Face buried in his unruly hair, I wait for him to be finish. Whatever on earth he's doing. That's when the pain disappeared, humming, Harry licked the blood staining my arm before sitting up. "There you go sweetheart."
I gaped when I saw the hole was gone, no trace of it, none. I turn to face the demon who 'miraculously' healed me, he was smiling smugly. "T-thank you," I muttered, looking down. I guess. I flinched when I felt cold fingers brushing my cheek, before for forcing me to look at him, eye to eye. Brown to green. "Y-yes?"
He just chuckled softly, "You never seem to stop surprising me Lucinda." I don't know why, but I felt my cheeks go red. Clearing his throat, Harry stood up, "Can you walk?" I rolled my eyes secretly, of course I can. But when I tried to stand, I suddenly remembered I sprained my ankle. "Of course not," He tsked, "Well then, I have to carry you."
I didn't object, knowing he'll snap at me for being stupid and all that. I awkwardly wrapped my arm aroung his neck as he proceed to carry me. "Where we going?" I can't help but ask, "And, where the heck are we?"
"Sewers, under your school," He simply answered, but avoiding my other question to where we're going, I just shut my mouth. Smoke started to form under his feet before it covered the two of us. It was kinda amazing the smoke didn't smell or didn't made me cough.
I turn my gaze to Harry, who was just staring ahead. I'll admit it, he looks good now, without the scars on his face and no blood stains on his clothes, I wonder how and why. But, he is still the same demon that I met at the old house. I can't decided if I should be mad or reliefed that he finally showed up. What the f.uck Lucinda?! You should be mad! He killed a lot of people , some of them are close to your heart. Just because he killed Matt, like ripped out his head and all, and rescued you-
"It's rude to stare Lucinda," Harry's words snapped me out of my thought, making me flush in embarrassment. It was a few minutes before the smoke dissipate, my jaw dropped when we were outside of someone's house and not back in the sewers. The house is probably on the outskirts of town since we were in the forest. It's probably around four in the afternoon, since it's almost dark.
The ground was blanketed with white snow, the trees too. Harry walked up the path, until we were in front of the door. He didn't put me down, he let the door open itself, and we went inside. "They're here!" I heard someone yell, Harry turned walked down the hall, to what seems to be the living room.
My jaw dropped when I saw the people sitting on the couch, my eyes almost popped out. "Hey Lucinda," Zayn greeted with a grin, around his arm was Grace. She didn't smile, when she looked at me, I can see sadness in her eyes. Beside the couple was another man, around his twenties. He had blond hair and clear blue eyes. He just waved at us, or probably at Harry.
What the hell are Zayn and Grace here?! I turn to face Harry, who just held a neutral look, before turning to face the couple again. "G-Grace, what are y-you doing here?" Mentally slapping myself for stuttering. She looked down in shame, "I am sorry Lucinda-"
"What?! Why are you, and your boyfriend doing here? Do you know Harry?" I questioned, well, more like yell to be honest. Who wouldn't be mad when you suddenly find out your friend somehow knows the demon? Speak of the devil...
"Grace is a soul eater, one of my allies." Harry answered for her, making me turn my attention to him. "She and her boyfriend, Zayn Malik, has been assisting me ever since." Gritting my teeth, I sharply turned, Grace just looked at me, asking for an apology. I can't believe it. Grace is a soul eater? And what is her boyfriend? (Well, if he really is her boyfriend.) The lochness monster?
It's embarrassing enough that you don't know your own friend. I feel betrayed. Before I could even continue, Harry whisked me away from them and went up the long spiral stairs to the second floor. The next thing I knew, we entered a huge bedroom. The walls were painted red and black. The room was filled with furniture, that looked expensive, especially the glass figurine beside the black leather couch. The bed, it was huge, pillows that looked so soft. Harry set me down on the soft bed.
"I need to go home," I spoked, "My parents are probably worried, the whole school looking for me, and they'll be mortified once they see the body of Matt." The thought of Harry killing Matt sent shivers up and down my spine. "No. You're not going back." I looked at him in disbelief, "What?"
He suddenly flashed me those black empty eyes that silenced me, "You're not going back."
"And why not? I need to go back! My parents need me!" I yelled out, but it startled me that Harry just remained calm. Usually, he would be yelling at me by now, scaring me into agreeing with his decision. "And why would they need a criminal?" I frowned, "What are you talking about."
All he did was grab a newspaper that played on the nightstand before giving it to me. He exited the room as I looked at the newspaper, wondering why he gave it to me. That is, until I read the bold headlines. I felt the urge to scream until one of my lungs burst.
