I wish I did not live

in a world defined by colours

For all colours are beautiful

but so few realize it

The white, too bright

too painful to look at

but raised up above

regardless

The black, the gentle flame

so full of possibilities

but looked down upon

anyways

The red, white and blue

some think is perfect

but little do we know

will be the downfall of ourselves

The rainbow

so beautiful and lovely

but cast aside

fighting for basics

The brown

stuck in the lines between

how to navigate the pain

we call life

Every colour, just that

a colour

but treated so different

for being on a separate

level of the spectrum

And I know we can't change

our colours

but why must we be defined

by this world of colours?
