I knew that someday I was going to be freed from that orphanage. I didn't belong there. Not a day went by that I didn't think about a way I could get out of it. Every family that came in saw my good side as I was trying to impress them. Too bad all of them chose a different child.

"Maddie no! You can't have that doll! Its too expensive!" My mum yelled as I picked out a gorgeous doll. "Mum it's only a doll!" I yelled back, "And I like her so she's mine now." My mum threw the doll to the ground. "Pick another!" She growled and reluctantly, I picked a new doll.

The doll then symbolised my life at that moment in time. Many people came in and their children seemed to like me! They tried to convince their parents to take me, but they always said no and took another child. That was just the way of the world.

"Oh look Shelby, poor old Madison is still trying to get someone to adopt her!" The meanest girl in the orphanage, Jade laughed. "Yes I am! Maybe some of us would like to say goodbye to this horrible place!" I yelled. Shelby came behind me and twisted my arm behind my back. "Nobody messes with Jade!" She spat in my face and kicked me.

After they had gone, I ran into the bathroom and started to cry badly. They didn't even hurt me that much, the thing that hurt me was the fact that they knew exactly how to make me upset. I became even more determined to be adopted. They would not win.
