《dream › zhong chenle》02 | light

i opened my eyes.
"i'm back..." i muttered and looked around.
it had been a few weeks since i kept reopening my eyes, only to find out i'm in some sort of dark place.
where am i actually?
this place,
today...?
it feels different.
like... i'm not alone.
i knit my brows in confusion, looking around for something. or at least someone.
"there's a light." i mumbled, seeing the bright light from the distance.
i press my lips into a thin line before running towards that light.
my feet were running as fast as they could, getting soaked in the water the darkness had.
soon, i came closer to the light.
then i come to realize.
it wasn't a light.
it was a girl.
she was wearing a soft pink dress with a cream cardigan on top, her hair was in a light color, and her skin was fair.
"e-excuse me?" i voiced out.
the girl turns around,
she was cute.
reminds me of someone...
her cheeks had a light pink natural blush, her eyes looked so loving and full of joy. those lips smiled at me though we just met for the first time.
one question clouded my mind.
"who are you?"
the girl tilts her head, "you don't remember me? i met you yesterday!"
i frowned, "i most certainly did not!"
the girl pouts at me, "you keep on forgetting me, lele!"
she sighs before flashing me a toothy grin, "i'm yoon haerin!"
"nice to meet you?" i awkwardly smiled.
"i don't know why you keep forgetting me, lele. it's probably because you're so... i don't know, you can't accept it."
"what do you mean, haerin? i just met you."
"see!" haerin crosses her arms.
"i'll tell you everything again! i won't get tired of this." she chuckled, "now, take my hand."

i gave her a look.
"i'm not gonna hurt you, just take my hand."
i sighed and took her hand in mind,
and once i did,
color started to spread around.
the once dark void i was in was replaced by some kind of fairytale land.
it was beautiful.
like a garden.
there were benches, a huge sakura tree, flowers all around, there was even a mini park! and even a fountain.
"this is dream land, lele."
"do you remember now?"
slowly... i soon started regaining memories about the dreams i had way back.
i had met her before.
also in my dreams.
but i didn't want to believe her.
i didn't want to believe i only met her in my dreams.
that's why...
i kept forgetting my dreams.
i kept waking up without a clue.
i kept seeing nothing but
darkness...
feeling nothing but
emptiness...
i looked around and saw a bridge not far from where we were.
"don't frown here! let's have some fun!"

Drinker of the Yew: A Necromancer's Tale
Updates Once a Week next update 10/5 Wracked with misfortune, a nameless village along the edge of the Gray Spine rejoiced at the arrival of a paladin. Those celebrations, though, turned to wary tension as the paladin brought an unknown into their midst - his wife Nayinis, who wears the markings of a necromancer. Who is this woman? Why has she come to their village? Nayinis divulges her shadowed past, for she needs the village's trust to defeat the powerful foe that she has been summoned by the divine to face. What to expect: This is a slow-paced, dark, epic-fantasy book written mostly in an archaic first-person style, remniscent of fariy-tale at times. I am expecting the final product to be close to 600-700 pages. The first few chapters introduce a somewhat-steep learning curve of names and mythology of the world that plateaus at aroud chapter 5. The bookshelf behind those contained a decent amount of books. I stood up to take a closer look at them and even opened a few out of curiosity. While I could read most of them just fine, some of the oldest-looking books were written in a language I didn't recognize. "Hm? Was my hand always blue?" I didn't remember. In fact, I couldn't recall anything about myself, not even my name. Inspecting the rest of my body, I found that it was the same all over. I didn't feel sick; quite the opposite. Still, my blue skin felt out of place for some reason. Trying to find an answer to my situation, I kept investigating the odd room. _________________________________________________________________ Big thanks to Alice Griffin for helping me out with the cover.
