《Trolls World Tour: Forever My Queen》Ch.30: A New Era

I didn't know what to expect once those doors opened. We had never rehearsed for the ceremony here. I was scared. However, when I was finally able to see what was on the other side of those doors, I felt like I was stepping into an old memory, and I relaxed.
The atmosphere felt so familiar, yet the setting was like a stranger to me. So many memories were whirling through my mind as I quickly glanced around the garden. The first thing I noticed were the lights. They were the same ones Titus had used when he proposed to me, as well as when he and I exchanged our first kiss. They were strung above the aisle and led up to the alter, where Titus was waiting for us.
When I looked to my left, I could see a group of Classical trolls playing the Canon while Trollzart conducted them gracefully. When I looked to my right, I could see the early evening sun reflecting off the mountains in the distance. The sky was slowly starting to turn different shades of purple and pink as the night began to approach us at a snails pace. It was the perfect setting for a day like this.
Every troll in Trollstopia was there, and now they were all looking at me. Most were smiling, some were crying, and some were doing both. I felt my chest tighten, so I stopped looking at them and stared straight ahead at Queen Essence, who would be leading the ceremony.
I was about to start walking when Trollex stopped me. "Watch your step," he whispered. I looked down and gasped softly. I was too busy looking at everything else around me that I didn't even notice that most of the aisle was an oblong pond. It was filled with salt water, and had about ten LED squids swimming around in it. A few of them swam towards us and positioned themselves underneath Clampers' feet so that she wouldn't fall into the water.
Beat confidently floated slightly ahead of Clampers and Coral Blush as he led them down the aisle. I looked back at Katheryn, who was still holding up my train. She offered me a gentle smile, then she nodded. I picked up the bottom of dress so that it wouldn't get wet, then Trollex led me to the water's edge so I could carefully step out onto the LED squid. They did the same for my sister. Then, the three of us began to walk.
Everything was running smoothly until about halfway to the alter, when I felt a tiny hand tug at my skirt. I stopped walking and looked down to see Coral Blush near tears. The poor boy was scared, and his flower basket was missing. He lifted his arms up towards me, so I smiled, bent down and scooped him up with one arm. As he wrapped his tiny arms around my neck and buried his face into my shoulder, we continued to walk to the alter.
As we stepped off the pond and walked the rest of the way on solid ground, I looked over at Titus. He was wearing a suit with a pixel heart sewn on the front, and his hair was billowing all over the place. I could see tears glistening in his eyes as we got closer, but he quickly wiped them away. He was standing to the left of the podium which displayed our crowns for all to see.
When we finally stopped walking, Katheryn gently laid down my train. Then I handed both Coral Blush and my bouquet over to her so she could take him to where his parents were sitting. Then, she took her place next to Barb on my side of the alter. Once the classical trolls had finished playing the Canon, Essence motioned for everyone to sit down as Trollzart dashed over to Titus's side of the alter to float next to Quincy. Thus, the ceremony began.

"Who gives the harmony troll to be married today?" Queen Essence asked.
"I am," Trollex stated.
"And do you, King Trollex of the Techno trolls, son of Roxanne and Titus, support them in their wedding today?" Trollex turned his head towards me and smiled.
"Always and forever." He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in for a tight hug, then he gave me a quick Eskimo kiss and joined the rest of the groomsmen on Titus's side of the alter next to Trollzart. Titus floated up to me and took my hand.
"How do I look?" I asked him nervously. He smiled, then he brought his mouth close to my ear.
"You look absolutely beautiful, my dear," he whispered. "In fact, I never thought it would be possible for you to look this gorgeous, yet here you are, surprising me yet again." I giggled, and I could feel my cheeks already starting to heat up.
"Thanks," I whispered back. "I think you look just as spectacular."
The two of us then turned to face Essence, who was smiling happily. She cleared her throat, then spoke out to the audience.
"Citizens of Trollstopia, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate an event unlike any other! Not only are we here to see these two trolls renew their vows to each other, but today they will also be crowned King and Queen of Trollstopia. However, since this event is both a wedding AND a coronation, please bear with me if I mess up the order in which we are about to do things!" The audience laughed.
"I'm being perfectly honest with you all. There will be no secrets kept here tonight," she continued. "Both Roxanne and Titus know about secrets all too well. Roxy's life was full of them, and their relationship was practically built high upon them. And although these two have faced many hardships, their love for each other never faltered for a second. Their bond and connection to one another is stronger than anything I have ever seen! No matter the distance, near or far, the bond that they share will never be broken!" Queen Essence's smile faded a bit as she lowered her head.
"However, a wedding day is often a day when couples miss the family members that are no longer with them. For Roxy, it is her mother, Queen Renee of the Hard Rock trolls, and for Titus, it is both his mother and father, Queen Cordelia and King Marin of the Techno trolls. Although they cannot physically be here to celebrate this momentous occasion with us, they are most certainly here in spirit." She whipped her head back up and began to smile at us again as she continued. "Roxy and Titus, please join hands, look at one another now, and remember this moment in time as you two renew your vows to each other."
I turned and took Titus's hands in mine as I looked deep into his eyes. I could feel a weird lump starting to form in my throat as he recited his vows to me:
"I, Titus, take you, Roxanne, to be my wife. In the presence of these witnesses, I promise to stay by your side in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as in the good times and the bad. I promise to be a faithful husband, and I will love and cherish you for as long as we both shall live."
He smiled at me as he waited patiently for me to recite my vows to him, but the lump in my throat was making it hard to talk.

"I, Roxanne, take you, Titus, to be my husband," I managed to choke out quietly. Why was I getting so emotional? Tears were beginning to blur my vision and they threatened to start pouring down my face at any second. "In the presence of these witnesses, I promise to stay by your side in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, as well as-"
Titus took notice of my tears as he quickly reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a handkerchief. He brought it up to my face and tried his best to dab my tears away, which caused me to stop talking for a brief moment and chuckle happily at his kind gesture.
And just like that, the tears and the lump in my throat were gone.
"As well as in the good times and the bad," I continued. "I promise to be a faithful wife, and I will love and cherish you for as long as we both shall live."
"Beat, may I have the rings?" Queen Essence asked. The tiny green creature floated forward with a purple pillow in his mouth, which held our rings. He gently placed the pillow on the small table that was in front of Essence, then he backpedaled all the way to Trollex.
I took a quick glance at our rings. My old ring had been replaced by a shiny new one, but it still looked exactly the same. And, since Titus never got to wear his, the ring I was going to be slipping onto his finger was the same one I got for him almost 26 years ago. He was finally going to get to wear it, and that made me happy.
"These rings, which are both unbroken, never ending circles, are a symbol of your committed, unending love," Essence said to us. "As you place these rings on the other's finger, I'd like you to repeat after me."
Titus reached down, grabbed my ring off the pillow, and slowly began to slip it onto my finger as he repeated Essence:
"Roxanne, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and faithfulness to you. Just like this ring has no end, my love is also forever."
Once he finished, I too reached down, picked up his ring off the pillow, and slowly began to slip it onto his finger.
"Titus, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and faithfulness to you. Just like this ring has no end, my love is also forever."
Suddenly, I heard a loud sniffle coming from behind me, then I heard Barb whisper-yell, "Poppy, stop crying!"
"I can't help it!" Poppy whispered back rather loudly. "I just love weddings!" We waited a couple of moments, but the sniffling didn't stop.
"Is she still crying?" I asked Titus, since I couldn't turn around to see her.
"Oh yeah," Titus chuckled. "Her eyes are super red and very puffy."
"DoN't TeLl HeR!" Poppy whisper-screeched at him.
The two of us just started laughing. Titus reached back into his jacket to pull out the handkerchief and tossed it to Poppy, who quickly blew her nose with it. Then, Essence cleared her throat and the commotion ceased to a halt as quickly as it began.
"It is at this time when the bride and groom will strengthen their unity," she continued. "Normally, this part of a wedding would be when the couple lights a unity candle or fills up a picture frame with sand, but today, they'll be doing something that's a little more...their style."
I heard Katheryn push a button on a little remote she had in her hands and I watched as my dress shortened to about ankle-length, train and all. I guess Satin and Chenille weren't the only trolls who worked on this dress. I heard the song we picked out beginning to play through the gardens' speakers as Titus held his hand out to me.
"Won't you dance with me?" he asked. I smiled warmly at him. It had been so long since we've last danced together.
"I thought you'd never ask." I grabbed his hand, and we began to dance as he sang to me:
Titus
You've got that smile
That only heaven can make
I pray to God everyday
That you keep that smile
My cheeks flushed a bright red color as I sang back to him:
Roxy
You are my dream
There's not a thing I won't do
I'll give my life up for you
'Cause you are my dream
That one line of the song made my heart ache a bit, because he and I both knew it was true. Luckily, that aching quickly went away once every troll started to clap along to the beat of music.
Both
And baby, everything that I have is yours
You will never go cold or hungry
I'll be there when you're insecure
Let you know that you're always lovely
Titus
Girl, 'cause you are
The only thing that I got right now
He brushed his hand against my cheek, causing me to shiver. I just smiled at him as we continued to dance and harmonize together.
Both
One day when the sky is falling
I'll be standing right next to you
Right next to you
Nothing will ever come between us
'Cause I'll be standing right next to you
Right next to you
Titus glanced over at Trollex, who was smiling and moving to the beat. Then, he looked back into my eyes.
Titus
You've had my child
You have made my life complete
'Cause you've had your eyes on a little me
That'd be ours forever
The two of us couldn't stop smiling. Essence was right. This truly was the happiest moment of our entire lives.
Both
And baby, everything that I have is yours
You will never go cold our hungry
I'll be there when you're insecure
Let you know that you're always lovely
Roxy
Boy, 'cause you are
The only thing that I got right now
Both
One day when the sky is falling
I'll be standing right next to you
Right next to you
Nothing will ever come between us
I'll be standing right next to you
Right next to you
I glanced over at the oblong pond, then back at Titus with a playful grin. He must've been thinking the same thing, because the next thing I knew, I was standing on top of LED squids and dancing with him on the water, just like old times.
Both
We're made for one another
Me and you
And I have no fear
I know we'll make it through
Once we had danced our way to the other end of the pond, Titus stopped dancing and pulled me as close to him as possible. There was a look is his eyes that I could read everyday and never grow tired of seeing. That look he gave me...said "I love you."
Titus
One day when the sky is falling
I'll be standing right next to you
He gave me a quick kiss on my forehead, causing me to blush as red as a tomato. Then, we started to dance back towards the alter. I could see smiles on everybody's faces as we passed by them.
Both
One day when the sky is falling
I'll be standing right next to you
Right next to you
Nothing will ever come between us
I'll be standing right next to you
Right next to you
Once we had made it back to the alter, Titus put his hands on my waist and picked me up off the LED squid, then he gently set me down on dry ground.
Roxy
You've got that smile
That only heaven can make
I pray to God everyday
To keep you forever
Ooh
As our song ended, the entire garden was dead silent. Then, the audience erupted into thunderous applause. I could almost feel the ground shaking beneath my feet with how intense it was.
I turned my head away from Titus and noticed that our crowns had been moved from the podium to the table in front of Essence. Once the audience's applause had died down a bit, she motioned for us to return to where we were originally standing in front of her.
I saw Katheryn push another button on her little remote, and I watched as my dress extended back out to its original length. I mouthed a thank you to her, and she kindly nodded.
"Love is like music," Queen Essence announced. "You're both playing different parts, but when put together, you create a beautiful melody."
Essence gave a quick nod to both Katheryn and Trollex. The two of them stepped forward and picked our crowns off the table, then they stood behind us with them and waited patiently for their signal.
"The time has come," Essence stated. She turned to Titus. "Do you, Titus, former prince and king of the techno trolls, take Roxanne to be your wife and your queen till death do you part?" Titus brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"I do," he replied without hesitation. Then, Essence turned to me.
"And do you, Roxanne, former princess of the hard rock trolls, former queen of the techno trolls, and our harmony troll, take Titus to be your husband and your king till death do you part?"
"I do," I responded.
Essence signaled both Katheryn and Trollex. The two of them began to assemble our crowns on our heads as we stood perfectly still. I watched Trollex tie up Titus's hair with a hair tie made of lavender and white pearls. Then, he attached a golden headpiece to the top of it, completing the look.
At the same time, I could feel Katheryn move my veil to the side and carefully place my crown on my head. She fastened the pink and white pearls to the hair tie that was holding my bun together, then she and Trollex stepped back, giving us as much space as possible.
Essence smiled widely as she announced loud and clear: "Then by the power vested in me by our ancestors, I now officially pronounce you husband and wife! Titus, you may kiss your bride!"
Titus offered me his goofiest smile as he placed one of his hands on the small of my back and grabbed onto my wrist with the other. As he did this, I wrapped my arm around his neck, while my other hand grabbed his wrist. Our cheeks turned a deep red and our pixel hearts started to glow as our faces were drawn closer and closer together until our lips finally locked, sealing our love.
The moment our lips met, everybody started cheering louder than ever before. Our pixel hearts glowed brighter and brighter until we were practically engulfed by their light. To some, it may have been just a kiss, but to us trolls, we knew it was more than that. Our kiss didn't just renew our vows, but it marked the beginning of a new era, one filled with nothing but harmony and peace.
As we pulled away from each other, we turned to face the audience. Everybody out there was now our subjects, our people, and most importantly, our friends. As we held hands and waved to everybody, I heard Queen Essence shout over the crowd something that I never thought I'd ever get to hear:
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present to you for the first time: King Titus and Queen Roxanne of Trollstopia!" Then, the audience jumped up and shouted in unison:
"Long live the King and Queen of Trollstopia!"
And just like that, our reign had begun.
