《He Saved Me》Chapter fifty four

Today we are going to the beach. I only have one bikini and its a little small on me.
I got home late last night so I'm exhausted.
I get my green bikini top on and throw the white bottoms with palm leaves on. I put a tank top and some shorts on and throw my flip flops on. Stuffing a towel, sunblock and some water in a bag I put simple makeup on.
When I was a kid I used to go to the beach every chance I got. Grace and Luke lived on the beach. It was always the highlight of my week. I remember always trying to surf. I got good at it towards the end but she was always better than me.
"Hey babe" Mason knocks on the door, walking in.
"Hey" I kiss his cheek.
"Up for a quickie?" Mason smirks.
"Dirty boy. Dirty little boy" I sing out, picking up my bag.
He shakes his head, laughing.
"I can't wait to see you in that bikini" He rubs his hands together, smiling.
"Don't get ahead of yourself, I'm not taking this off" I laugh.
"What? Why not?" He whines, pulling on my arm.
"Mason" I urge him to stop making a big deal out of it as we walk to the car.
"Leah, you gotta show off that bod girl. If you got it, might as well flaunt it" He shakes his shoulders.
"What got you in such a great mood?" I try and change the topic.
"I'm going to the beach with my girl and some of my friends. Why wouldn't I be in a good mood" He smiles.
"You're adorable" I laugh, getting in the car.
"Thank you, love" He kisses my cheek, starting the car.
"But seriously, why don't you want to wear your bikini?" He questions, rubbing my arm.
"It shows a lot of my really bad scars Mason" I sigh, getting self conscious.
"Babe, look at me" He picks my chin up.
"You're gorgeous. Your scars make you, you. They are proof that you are stronger than anyone else. You had a hardship that you overcame. They make you even more beautiful" He pushes my hair back. "Do what you feel comfortable with, but you're gorgeous regardless of a scar or not. Okay?" He places a light kiss on my lips.
I nod, my mouth suddenly dry. I love this man.
"Thank you Mas" I give him a light smile as he pulls out.
"I've always got your back babe" He takes my hand into his.
Mason hands me the aux, letting me put on our shared playlist and we listen to music while enjoying the scenic drive and each others company.
"I can't believe we're done" I lean my head back.
"I know, its crazy" Mason shakes his head.
I'm tempted to ask the dreaded question of if we're going to try long distance or not.
"Lets just enjoy our summer together, okay?" Mason reads my mind, kissing my hand.
I nod, letting the wind blow through my hair.
The drive seems short since Mason and I never stopped talking or singing. It was fun.
When we get to the beach we find a spot and wait for everyone else.
"You can go in the water in a shirt too, you know" Mason pulls me up to his chest.
"I know" I nod, looking at the houses. One in particular. The same pink house shines in the distance, not a single part of it looks different. I smile as I see a couple kids running out of it in wetsuits, grabbing their surfboards.

"What?" Mason asks, concerned.
"No, I just spent a good part of my childhood here" I shake my head, placing my sunglasses over my eyes.
"You need some new glasses, get rid of these dollar store ones" Mason takes them from me, laughing.
"Actually, I got them for free from a booth" I laugh, grabbing them back from him.
"Here" He smiles, placing his on my face.
"Wow, I can actually see" I joke, fixing them.
"These actually work decently well" He gasps.
"Oh shut up" I hit his shoulder, taking them back and giving his back.
"Hey" Dani smiles, placing her bag next to mine.
"Hey guys" I hug her and the rest of the group.
"How are you guys?" Christine smiles, holding Richie's hand.
"Are y'all official yet or what?" I whisper.
She blushes, nodding her head. I let out a small squeal and hug her.
"Y'all are adorable together. So happy for you" I smile.
"Thank you Le" She hugs me back.
Everyone gets comfortable and soon people start undressing into their bathing suits.
"Come on Le" Dani urges me.
"I think I'm just going to hang out here for a little" I stutter, getting uncomfortable.
"Are you okay?" She frowns.
"Yeah, I just need to do something quickly" I try and dismiss the question.
"Okay" She nods, walking off with Tim.
"Do you want to at least stick your feet in the water and see how you feel?" Mason asks once everyone leaves.
"Okay" I nod, standing up.
"Here, take your shorts off at least. Don't want them to get all wet" He smiles, taking his shirt off.
"Gee, thanks. Way to make me insecure" I laugh, pushing his chest.
"What?" He chuckles, wrapping me in a hug so his rock hard abs are against my chest.
"No need to show off, we all know you're a future NFL star" I tease him.
"I sure as hęll hope so. That would be amazing, a dream come true. What a great life we would have" He laughs, as we walk to the water.
He just said 'we', right?
He did. He just said 'we', like as in a future together. Woah.
A huge smile spreads onto my face, "Yeah, I guess we would".
We get up to the water and the cold waves crash onto my feet.
I look to my left to see some people surfing. The urge to get on a board and give it a try is strong.
"You okay?" Mason wraps his arms around me from behind.
"Yeah, of course" I kiss his cheek, watching the waves.
"Come in guys" Aiden calls out.
"Maybe in a little" Mason says, hugging me closer.
"You can go in Mas. I don't mind" I clarify with him.
"Yeah, I know. But I'm not going to abandon you" He mumbles into my hair.
"You won't. I'll go back to my towel and try and get some color and read" I draw circles on his arm.
"You really don't want to go in at all? I see the way you're staring at the water" He whispers.
"I do, but my scars" I frown.
"They're beautiful. Now, go back to the towel and take that shirt off. I'll be there in a minute" He urges.
I reluctantly make my way to the towel, not knowing what to do.
"Come on" Mason tugs at the hem of my shirt.
"I'm nervous Mas" I laugh.
"Nervous? Come on, its not like its our first time" He smirks, causing me to hit his chest.

"Shut up" I roll my eyes.
"You have nothing to be embarrassed or self conscious of. You're body is stunning Le" He rubs my arms.
"Okay, okay fine" I shake my head, pulling the shirt over my head quickly.
My hands immediately wrap around my waist, covering my stomach.
"Eh, eh, eh, not gonna work babe" He smiles, peeling my hands off.
"Fine, can we go in the water quickly" I pull his arm.
"Damn girl, that is one tight swimsuit" He teases me, grabbing my hand and spinning me.
"Stop it, its the only one I own and is from like years ago" I roll my eyes.
"I'm not complaining, but yes, lets go in the water. You're attracting too many people" He winks at me, my cheeks heating up.
"Damn Le, I see you" Ellie winks as we make our way into the water.
Instinctively I try to cover myself, Mason hits my arms, stopping me.
A wave crashes over my head, causing memories to flood back.
"Damn Le" Mason laughs, his grip on my waist tight.
I wipe my hair back from my face, not being bothered by the salty water in my mouth.
A couple more big waves come and Mason lifts me over them, showing off his muscles.
"Geez, okay Mason. No need to rub it in our faces" Brooks laughs.
"Shut up, man" Mason chuckles, shaking his head.
We all talk, enjoying each others company.
My attention lingers back over to the surfers for a moment. What I would do to get back on one of the boards.
"Did you put sunblock on?" Mason asks, looking at my face.
"Of course I did. Why? Did you?" I smile.
"Your cheeks are getting red. No, I didn't. I don't put sunblock on" He runs his hand through his hair.
"They always get red, it's unavoidable. You should, you always get the worst burn at the beach. And the UV index today is 9. Come on, let's put some on you and then you'll get a nice golden tan" I laugh, pulling his hand.
"They look cute, I like it. You checked the UV index?" He laughs.
"Of course I did, I need to get a tan. Its the first day of summer Mas" I grab the sunblock from my bag and spray it on his chest, instructing him to rub it in.
I move onto his back and spray it on, rubbing it in so that he doesn't get a blotchy tan.
I repeat the spraying motion on his arms and legs and let him rub it in.
"All good" I smile, putting it away.
"Thank you. Hmm, where should we go this summer?" He throws his arm over my shoulder.
"What?" I laugh.
"Like on vacation, where do you want to go?" He smiles down at me.
"Um, I don't know" I giggle, shrugging.
"Think about it" He kisses the top of my head.
"What about going to like the beach or something for the weekend?" I suggest.
"Think big Le, we can do that anytime. I'm talking about a week and a half, two week long vacation somewhere" He laughs.
"Mason, we're starting college. I don't have the money for that" I stare at him wide eyed.
"I'm the boyfriend, I'll pay. How about Aruba or Bahamas. Ooh, or Portugal. I heard its beautiful there" He thinks.
"Thats expensive" I gasp.
"Only the best for my girl" He smiles, leading me back to the water.
"Don't be ridiculous Mason. I'm happy with a bag of chips or ice cream, Netflix and cuddling with you. I don't need any extravagant thing" I furrow my eyebrows.
"I know, but you deserve to be spoiled babe. Every once and a while its nice to get a little extra" He explains.
"I mean, I guess you're right but I'm good with a beach weekend" I laugh.
"Okay, sure" He smiles, shaking his head.
We get back into the water and talk to our friends.
Soon, lunch comes around and all of our stomachs are growling. Mason and I unpack our sandwiches. We came prepared.
"You guys were smart" Ellie frowns.
"We practically have a full course meal" Mason laughs, pulling stuff out of the cooler.
We brought salad, sandwiches, strawberries, grapes, pineapple and chips.
"You guys can have some" I laugh, handing them the chips and fruit.
"We don't want your pity food" Tim jokes, taking the chips.
We all eat and converse, having a great time.
"Its crazy that we're done with high school" Richie says.
"It is, I can't believe it" Christine agrees, biting into a strawberry.
"Now onto college" I whisper, not wanting to leave here. If I leave I might not come back. Especially if Mason and I don't try distance.
We spend the whole day at the beach, waiting until sunset.
There is nothing better than watching the sunset on the beach. I take a video of the beach, scanning the houses too and send it to Luke and Grace 'Look familiar?'
Once night falls, we start back to the cars.
We say our goodbyes and get into the cars. "I'll drive" I offer, yawning.
"Don't be ridiculous Le, I'll drive. I'm not even tired. Take a nice nap, I'll wake you when we're home" Mason ushers me into the passengers side.
"We can switch halfway" I try and reason with him.
"No, its not that far. I'll be fine Le, I promise. I have you in the car" He starts the car and quickly pulls out.
"Okay, fine. But let me know if you need a break" I smile.
The drive is very fast and soon we are at Masons in no time.
"Do you want to shower first?" I ask, walking into his room.
"We can shower together, conserve water and it'll go faster" He smirks, taking my bags out of my hand, running his hand up and down my arm.
"Cut it out and get in the shower" I shake my head, laughing.
"You're no fun. Its gonna happen one day babe" He laughs.
"Mhm, I'm sure Mason" I shake my head, turning to go get some water.
The rest of the night is spend watching Netflix and cuddling until we both fell asleep.
