"My oh my I have found you nigger. You should run from me you nigger", Sev sang as he tapped away on his phone. Slapping his arm Indigo told him, "Stop the white people are looking". Laughing Sev replied, "Let them look".
Today was Indigo's dad's death anniversary. Knowing that Indigo was in a bad mood he took her to a newly opened art museum. He really was not in museums but the smile on her face was enough to make him happy.
"Ooo look at this one", Indigo said as she dragged him to the other side of the exhibit.
Looking at the painting sideways he asked, "The fuck is this supposed to be". Elbowing him she explained, "It's about hiding feelings. If you look in the middle the woman seems to be happy. But if you look to the sides you see several other faces that are hiding. Those faces look distraught. The woman is smiling to the world but she's actually hurting in private".
Looking down at her as she explained Sev licked his lips, "Look at you. All smart and shit". Blushing Indigo looked down as she pulled on one of her loose curls. The worst part of her anxiety is the fact that she doubted herself. She felt that she was lower than what others thought.
Seeing the food court Sev walked towards it asking, "You hungry". Shaking her head Indigo walked ahead of him. Getting on the line Sev ordered his food before sitting down on a table with Indigo.
"You believe in aliens", Sev randomly asked as he ate his fries. Thinking for a while Indigo responded, "To an extent. I know there's something out there". Adding on Sev said, "The universe is way too big for us to be the only one".
Indigo nodded her head in agreement before reaching out to take one of his fries. "You said you're not hungry", he told her.
"I changed my mind", she says, smirking. Smacking his teeth Sev passed the rest of his food to her. "Thank you", she adds with a bright smile on her face. As she took a bite into the burger she did a little dance in her seat. After eating half of the burger she put it down.
"You don't want the rest", he questioned her. Indigo shook her head before packing up her stuff seeing that it was time to go.
Thirty minutes later Sev pulled up to Indigo's house and parked. "You good?", he asked her. Beyond popular belief Sev was not dumb, he in fact is very intelligent. He can tell that Indigo was hiding her true feelings. Nodding Indigo said, "Yea I'm good".

Even though Sev knew she was lying she was not going to push her to talk. She will tell him when she's ready. Indigo opened the door and walked to the front door of her house. Using her key she opened the door before turning back to wave at Sev.
Indigo walked into the door just to see an empty house. Realizing that they were probably at the store she went to her room.
Slamming her door, Indigo slid down her door breaking down in tears. Grabbing her pillow she screamed into it. She felt herself blacking out. Trying to fight her thoughts she gasped in and out.
She put on a shield and claimed that she was okay. She smiled all day knowing that inside she was slowly breaking. She hated that. Hated feeling like she can't express herself. But she knew that deep down she was breaking, breaking like glass.
Indigo felt herself going into an episode. Her mind was slowly closing up and she could not place anything.
Suddenly she spazzed out throwing everything around. Books were flying around her room along with some shoes. This is what she called an episode, her mind completely shut down and she broke down. She was not herself during these times, they can last for hours even days.
As she threw one of her heels she heard a loud crack. Turning to the sound she saw her mirror broken with broken glass scattered around it. Crawling in that direction she laid next to sharplets screaming, "Come back daddy, please come back".
The tears in her eyes clouded her vision but the glass on the floor was clearly there. Taking a sharp piece of glass, she stared into her reflection. The image looking back was tear-faced and hurt. She could not place who the girl was before it clicked in her mind that it was her.
Taking a sharp breath in she inhaled before she dragged the glass across her arm dragging down. A few drops of blood slowly emerged from the cut like droplets of rain. "She paints a pretty picture but her arm is the canvas", she muttered to herself.
Screaming one more time she felt her body break down and pass out from exhaustion. Like a rag doll her body dropped to the floor, directly on top of the glass, as blood quietly dripped from her arm.
~~~
An awkward silence surrounded the table as Kenji, Ameena, Indigo and Violet sat around it. Violet had only recently arrived at the dinner. He clearly held resentment for them.
Clearing his throat Violet said, "I read the things in the box. It turns out y'all didn't abandon me". Diamond gave him a box filled with different letters and pictures. From studying them he was able to know that he was not abandoned. Indigo smiled at him saying, "They won't do that".
Snorting Violet said, "How do you know that". Raising her eyebrows she responded, "Because I grew up with them". Mugging her Violet scoffed saying, "Of course you did".
Putting her fork down she stared at him asking, "The fuck is that supposed to mean".
"Figure it out", he replied smirking. Indigo pushed out her chair getting out her seat, "Say it with your chest nigga". Indigo always tried to avoid drama and conflicts. But talking about her parents was off limits.
Letting out a little laugh he says, "Nah cause you sitting here all privileged tryna talk to me and shit. Bitch ion like you. You can go die for all I care". Indigo stared at him and you can see tears in the corner of her eyes. She was so excited to meet him but seeing him say this hurt her.
Clenching her hands she replied, "You don't even know me". Getting up he said, "Your right I don't know you. You think you all that cause you know them niggas", refering to their parents.
He continued talking saying, "Sitting there tryna give me sympathy I don't need that shit at all". Indigo got in his face and next thing they were pushing each other around. Kenji got up from his seat pushing them apart.
Suddenly Indigo went off, "You don't know me at all. I watched my parents get murdered. That shit haunts me every night. I have permanent trust issues because my god father not only killed my parents but also tried to kill me".
The room was dead quiet as Indigo continued saying, "You don't know shit. The people who were placed as my guardian were instead touching me. I've been touched more than two times in my life and I'm only 17. Please don't tell me shit". Indigo's leg was shaken violently as she was clearly trying to calm herself.
Violet's eyes softened a little before he reached out to her. Before he could even say anything Indigo walked out the door closing it with a loud slam.
~~~
Indigo sat on top of a small bridge looking down at the water. Taking the small pebbles on the floor next to her she threw them into the lake watching the riddles as her thoughts ran wild.
She thought about the loss of her parents and her former trauma. She thought about her newly found twin brother and his feelings about her. She was hurt beyond belief.
Swinging her feet back and front she looked at the height difference from the bridge to the water. Her mind wondered what would happen if she jumped. Maybe if she jumps she will finally see her parents again. Finally be happy.
Gently climbing down she hanged from the top with both hands. Jump now her brain told her. Slowly letting go she hung down with only one hand. Closing down she slowly let go.
Suddenly her arm was grabbed and she was pulled back. Turning around she was met with the mugging face of Violet. "The fuck is wrong with you". Staring at him she replied, "I thought you didn't like my bitch ass".
Smacking his teeth, he didn't respond to her. A comfortable silence fell over as the both sat on the floor. Looking up Indigo meets direct eye contact with Violet. She stared at him, studying him a little. She was a little blown back by the similarities between them.
The quiet silence was broken by Violet asking, "Were you trying to kill yourself". Looking around in shame she slowly nodded her head. Sighing, he gently told her, "Please don't do that. You're the only connection I have to my parents".
Scoffing she replied, "You're the one that told me to go die". Violet moved a little closer to her gently wrapping his arm around her shoulder. Indigo hesitated a little before laying her head on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I'm just so angry but I took it out on the wrong person", Violet told her. As she quietly listened to what he said a tear slowly ran down her cheek. Using his hand Violet wiped her cheek, "Please don't cry", he begged her.
Indigo looked directly in his eyes seeing the true him. He was just a hurting soul, like her. And hurt people hurt people.
But they needed each other. They are the missing piece to each other's puzzle. "I'm sorry", Indigo told him. Shaking his head Violet told her, "Don't be".
Violet said, "I promise imma protect you with my heart no matter what", as he placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
