《BLOODTHIRSTY》09. The libarys secret

The night sky and the small stars made the world seem so peaceful. It made Winter believe there wasn't anything to fear on the streets. It made her believe that going out at night wasn't something dangerous after all. Her bedtime stories consisted of stories that made you fear everything that was unknown. As a kid she was terrified of being alone. It reminded her of all the stories where the main character died, because they were alone and help arrived too late. Since the night where she almost got eaten by a lion, she didn't want to be alone anymore.
It made her realise how fast your life can end. So you have to live life the way you want it too. Hopefully that way you won't regret everything you didn't end up doing. She wanted to be on good terms with her friends. She wanted to be closer with her mother. Maybe even go far and look for her biological father. He had left her when she turned 4. She used to envy her brother since he did had the chance to make lasting memories. Winter didn't remember much all she knew was the fact that her mother can't bring herself to talk about him.
Winter was too deep in thoughts but was brought back to reality by her ringing phone. Isabelle trew a pillow to her head since she wasn't picking up.
"Make that damn phone shut up." Isa was lying in her bed and turned around to look at Winter annoyed.
"Oh sorry." Winter picked her phone up and wondered if it was alright to speak to them. After all they haven't been acting like themselves lately.
She picked the phone up and answered. "Hey." Even winter herself almost didn't recognise her own voice.
"I'm not so far away from your dorm room. I wondered if we can talk." Brian's deep voice but also gentle always was one of her weakness. It reminded her that despite being intimidating he also was a big soft ball.
"Okay I'll be right there." She told him and put an end to the call. She grabbed her white convers that weren't so white anymore, and put it on. Isabelle looked up with tired eyes and had raised eyebrows.
"I'll be right back Isa." Winter told her roommate but also friend.
"Okey love you better come back whole." Her friend whispered tiredly and Winter smiled to herself. Sometimes she truly thinks that she doesn't deserve her.
When she finally was outside she spotted a tall Asian boy holding chocolate bars. His black hair was messy as always and he had this big hoodie on that probably wouldn't fit her. He held on to this big bag and Winter assumed that he just got back from practice. She smiled to herself when she saw his face. He was wearing his rond glasses that made him look like a 5 year old kid.
"Well hello cutie." She called out to him laughing, and some chuckles escaped his lips. Before any words could leave his mouth, he found himself kissing her cheeks and pulling her in for a hug. As if he was sacred of losing her. As if he was scared that If he let go, she would no longer be there.

"Brian...you're crushing me." She informed him and he apologised quickly. "Are you okay? Are you sick again? You know you're not supposed to walk around just wearing a hoodie in the middle of autumn." Winter was rambling but stopped when she saw the expression on his face.
"I just missed you." His light brown eyes watched her every move. He wanted to tell her more than that. Brian wanted her to know she meant the world to him, yet he couldn't bring himself to open up to her. After all the years that passed by he should be able to tell her. He had to be able to explain to her he wouldn't mind killing for her. After all she was the only one that had ever been able to break down his walls. Brian grinned from ear to ear. He had never imagined himself to give her his heart so easily.
"You missed me? You sure didn't act like it." She crossed her arms after freeing herself from his crushing hug.
"Sorry Double V, it just took me a while to get my shit straight." He told her truthfully and kissed her forehead.
"Well what did you want to talk about?" Winter asked him with raised eyebrows.
He grabbed her hand and led her to his car that wasn't parked so far away. "It's cold it would be better to talk here." He informed her and took his phone out of his jean pockets.
"You didn't tell me what happened last week when you walked off by yourself, and you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Brian reassured her and smiled at the girl right next to him. "I know Chris has been a dick that day. Well not only that day." He sighed but went on with talking. "And Andrea....well is just being Andrea. I honestly thought you needed space and I wanted to give you that. I have always been protective of you and that maybe frustrated you and I just want to apologise Winter. There was a lot going on and I haven't been acting like a friend just like forest guy said." He finally told her and didn't want to look her in the eyes.
"It's just that I know you since middle school and to me you're still that small girl. When it comes to comforting people I'm not always the best. I come off as if I don't care, but I-I really do I just-" Winter placed a finger on his lips to stop him from saying anything further.
"It's okay Brian. I understand I just wished everyone would stop treating me like that. R-regardless of what happened." The words that had been stuck in her throat for so long finally made its way out.
"Okay I'll respect your wishes." He told her and looked at how late it was. "You probably should head back." He told her and opened the door for her.
"I'm going to the library."
"Wait libraries are still open?" He asked surprised.

"Brain it's 6 pm." She laughed and he rolled his eyes. "But I guess you wouldn't know when libraries are closed since you never go there." Winter grinned from ear to ear and he looked offended.
"So you're just going to do me like that? I just don't have time to go." He told her truthfully and she shrugged it off.
"Whatever Brian."
Right before she slammed his door shut he called out to her again. "There is this party next week and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?" He asked the girl with shock written all over her face.
"Wow this is the first time you have ever asked me." Winter couldn't stop the smile forming on her face. "Just you and me?" She asked him with raised eyebrows.
"The other 2 are probably going to come too but don't worry about them okay?" Winter nodded her head and waved him goodbye before walking back away.
The library wasn't so far from her dorm room. It was a 5 minute walk it would have been 4 if she wasn't so clumsy and almost slipped. Finals were coming up and she just wanted to pass all her exams. So here she was in the library making sure to focus on the piece of paper in front of her. Remember every formula. However using her brain could be hard sometimes. Her thoughts never stayed with whatever she was trying to focus on. In some way she would think about how some fishes give birth. Or how come humans stopped involving, Winter wanted to be able to fly.
Winter thought about the impossible but later on figured out that it could be possible after all. She could recall seeing wings behind Arculus back. It was dark but she was sure of what she saw. White wings with some black dots on the sides. She had never told him but she thought everything about him was in fact breathtaking. Winter knew what she was doing was dangerous. Admiring something she doesn't know anything about was dangerous. Yet winter couldn't help it. She didn't know you could admire something and also be so afraid of it.
"What am I doing?" She wondered to herself. "Why am I even thinking about him?" She questioned.
The lights that where everywhere in the library started to flicker on and off. The brown table where her books have laid were suddenly across the floor. Panic run through her whole body and stood up form her seat rather quickly. Her eyes looked around to find the librarian or even look for other students, but to here surprise no one was there. Which Winter couldn't believe at all. She remembers it clearly, when she walked in here there were about 10 students. Most of them where in the back also studying. She was in the front so if they had walked passed her she would have known. Her eyes had to be playing tricks on her she thought. There is no way no one was here. At this point she was waiting for laughter and for someone to scream prank. Yet she only could hear her own breathing, and small ticking sounds.
"Is it raining outside?" She wondered to herself. Trying to grab her phone and use it as a flash light.
When the lights stoped flickering on and off and the library was overwhelmed with darkness it made her heart skip a beat. When the ticking sound only started to get louder she concluded that there was no way it was rain. Winter used her phone's flesh light to see in the dark. Somewhere behind here she could hear a door open. Her hands where trembling and she dropped her bag on the floor. She turned around to see who it could have been but she didn't see anyone. The door suddenly closed itself and Winter was about to pee in her pants.
It had started as a kid she thought, when she had nightmares never ending. Winter was convinced she wasn't afraid of the dark. She was sure that whatever was hiding in the darkness wasn't going to scare her. It made her believe she was a big girl ready to look out for herself but this was too much for her. Too much for her to handle. She tried to call Isabelle but after a few rings her phone completely shut off.
"No no no no...." She started panicking with tears forming in her eyes.
"This has to be a joke. Please someone say sike right now." She tried not to lose her mind but she was scared.
She felt something touch her hand and that is when Winter started crying. The few tears turned into waterfalls. Making her vulnerable and left her feeling weak. She wanted to just drop on the floor but was scared of dropping on something else instead. Feeling something touch her back and slowly making its way to her shoulders. That's when she realised that whatever was touching her was a living creature. She could feel it's breathing on her neck.
Why was this all happening to her? Was today the day she would die? Was she going to slowly die in the dark without even know what had killed her?
With her shaking hands she tried to bend down and grab her phone she had dropped earlier. Maybe she had accidentally touched the wrong buttons. However no matter how many times she tried she still couldn't bring herself to make her phone work. Which only worsen the state she already was in.
It was the panic state she was in that made her scream his name. It maybe was the desperate need to be saved from whatever was lurking in the darkness. Perhaps it was just her seeking his presence again. Whatever it may have been she just wanted him to be here- so so badly.
