《Counterattack》I Like Him

"So much for talking," I sigh.
"It is not his fault, I gave him a lot, and I mean a lot of alcohol to make him confess," Ace admits.
I look back and find blue peacefully sleeping. We are driving home, and Ace is steering with me in the front and Adora and August in the back. Adora has a far and distant look on her face.
"What's wrong, Ado?" I question. No answer.
"Adora?" I call out, and still no answer. I look back and start calling her name.
"Ado, Ado, Ado, Ado, A-"
"STOP. Your voice is annoying," Adora yells, disgusted.
Ace abruptly stops the car, and thankfully the road is empty. My mouth hangs open in shock because Ado has never yelled at me before. We fight and yell at each other sure, but not this kind. Not the hurtful kind.
"Adora," Ace scolds her.
"What?"
"Apologize," Ace commands.
"No, Ace, drive. Let's go home first," I say. Ace opens his mouth to say something but decides otherwise and starts driving. We drove in silence the rest of the way, with only tiny sobs and night insect noise interrupting the silence.
I help Ace put August to bed in Ace's room, and The twins and I head to Ado's room to talk. I sit on the bean bag, and they both sit on the bed. I wait for Ado to speak while going through my phone. Hey, my favourite author released another chapter on Wattpad.
"I am so sorry," She says while crying. I keep my phone down and face her.
"I know," I say with a smile.
"Something happened at the party? Someone hurt you?" Ace asks the last part with gritted teeth, his protective big brother instinct coming out.
"I am 18, Ace. I don't need my big brother by three minutes protecting me all the time," Ado says with a chuckle.

"I am sorry, Alex. I didn't tell you this, but I like someone. I have liked them for a month now," Ace and I look at each other in shock. A whole freaking month and this idiot did not tell me.
"I saw that person today, and he was kissing-" She hesitates to finish it.
"Go on," I urge her to finish it.
"A boy," She mumbles.
At least I tried to hold in my laughter, but Ace slips off the bed and is on the ground, laughing hard. A few snickers escape my mouth, and I pinch myself to stop them. She glares at us, and I take deep breaths to control it.
I know we seem like terrible friends, but this is hilarious. Adora does not catch feelings easily. This person must be special. I get off the bean bag and hug her, and she hits my shoulder when she feels me vibrating, chuckling silently.
"I am sorry, Ado. I really am," I say with a sad smile. She shakes her and chuckles.
"I know this scenario is a little funny, but you don't have to laugh this much," Ado says, kicking her brother, who has tears streaming down his face from laughing so hard.
"You know what is the worst part?" She questions.
"Oh, so the worst part is not your crush kissing some guy?" I ask, genuinely confused.
"NO. The worst part is, the other boy is so good-looking. Like hell," She complains, and this time, I join Ace while laughing. This girl.
"I seriously thought something bad happened to you since you never yelled at Alex like that," Ace chuckles while wiping his tears.
"Yea, I am really sorry about that. It's just, I like him a lot," She sighs.
"Oh baby," I pout and hug her tight. She hugs me back, and I stroke her hair, hoping it comforts her. I am terrible at comforting people, especially in this kind of matter.

"How did you meet him," Ace question sitting in the bean bag. Ado breaks the hug and looks at her brother.
"You know the cafe I visit frequently?"
"Yeah, the one near the library,"
"He works there. I met him about two months ago, and the first time I saw him, he spilt milkshake all over me. I know, cliche. It was his first day at work, and the poor guy was a nervous mess. I reassured him it was fine, but he promised me a month of free milkshakes for ruining my dress,"
"So, on my way home from the library, I frequently started visiting the cafe for a free milkshake. It is free, people. Who would miss out on that? He took his break whenever I came, and we spent that free time talking and getting to know each other. Slowly, I started catching feelings, and you know the rest," She sighs.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I question.
"You already had a lot on your plate with Blue coming back and the tournaments. I didn't want you to worry about me," She smiles.
"You are my best friend, idiot. You can tell me anything, and worrying about you is my job," I chuckle, pulling her into a hug.
"Thank you for thinking about me," I say.
"You are my best friend, idiot," She repeats my words.
"Okay, this is getting too sappy. I am going back to my room. Hopefully, August didn't throw up anywhere," Ace says, shuddering. Ado and I laugh and wish him goodnight. After Ace is gone, I explain what happened at the party to Ado.
"I knew it," She exclaims.
"Knew what?" I ask, taking a mouthful of ice cream. Nights like these call for ice cream.
"He loves you too much to hurt you intentionally. Although, he could have come to us for help,"
"Anyway, what has happened has happened. I am thankful because that fight has made me who I am today. I am no longer insecure. I am a strong, beautiful, and independent person now. Nothing or no one can hurt me now," I say confidently.
"I am glad too. Thank God you are not a nerd anymore," Ado heaves a sigh of relief. I hit her with a pillow, and she laughs.
"FYI, I am still a nerd but a hot and strong nerd," I say with a chuckle. We both lie down, Ado turns off the light, and I admire the glow in the dark stars.
"Hey, it might have been a dare," I say, suddenly sitting up.
"What?"
"Him kissing that person, you never know," I say with a glimmer of hope for my best friend.
"Go to sleep. It was too real to be a dare," She sighs, hitting herself with the pillow.
"Only one way to find out," I smirk, a plan already forming in my head.
"No, you wouldn't," She gasps.
"It is finally time to check if Ace actually swings for the other team," I snicker.
This is going to be int-er-es-ting.

A quick TL;DR pitch. LitRPG Apocalypse with group progression, a non-overpowered mc, a limited skill-slot System where having a single skill over your opponent could make a big difference. A barrier mage mc who isn’t an Edgelord A sentient System that’s a character in its own right. But when some fellow survivors are separated and trapped by a rampaging moose, an emotion breaks through his apathy. He can’t turn away. Some people say it’s everyone for themselves at the end of the world. Steven disagreed ~<>~<>~ Will update every Sunday and Tuesday at 9:00am, unless the chapter is beefy, then we'll just have one that week. For some more meta details about this story, it’s a LitRPG Apocalypse with a focus on abilities and how they are used over stats and numbers. It will have group progression, a non-overpowered protagonist, and a focus on unique and interesting classes. No overwhelming advantages for the main crew or broken cheat skills. No harem, some amount of gore, decent levels of profanity.

El's Revenge
“Revenge is not for the dead- we, as the living, take revenge to relieve the burden we feel,” I whispered into the air. “Salvation for the people who suffered because of you,” I watched as the city burned in the flames. “Salvation for the people like me, who believed in the proclaimed heroes when in reality they were the devils.” I smiled faintly as the ‘holy land’ of those ‘saints’ was destroyed. I heard rustling sounds as Charlotte came to stand next to me, grabbing my hand. “El, are we the bad guys?” If I was still the same as I was before, I might’ve broken down and started crying. Now, it was different. “A villain is just another victim. They cry and mourn, it’s just that no one heard, leading them into madness. It’s one of the reasons why we know the most, but care the least.” I took a deep breath. “We may be the bad guys in other peoples’ eyes, but in my story, we’re the heroes.” Charlotte took in my words for a while and pondered, before nodding in agreement. “As children, we loved the heroes, as adults we understand the villains.” I looked at her and bonked her on the head, earning an angry glare from her. “Hey! You’re barely an adult yourself you know,” she grumbled. I laughed and ruffled her hair, before countering her. “At least I’m not 12. You can’t even be considered a teenager at that age.” After that, we silently watched the flames ravage the land, before leaving.
