Link came into view as the door was opened. After Tetra quickly ran past Link with a little "hello," Link smiled at Zelda.
"What are you waiting for come in!" He said opening the door wider.
"Thank you," Zelda said walking into the house. She clutched her book to her chest as Link shut the door behind her.
"How is it?" Link asked gesturing to the Wooden Chair.
"It's amazing," Zelda said smiling, "you really should get into romance novels."
Link cocked his head, "why?"
Zelda flushed and lowered her head, "n-no specific reason! I just think you would like them!"
"I guess I'll try one out sometime," Link said causally as he looked down the hallway. Was Link going to stay with her today instead of doing his usual things?
"I really enjoyed that date by the way," Link said looking at her intently, "I may have already said that, but I really did."
"Oh I'm glad," Zelda said breathing out in relief, "I'm happy it turned out better than your other date."
Link's brow furrowed a bit.
Wait a minute. She had said too much.
She tried to retract, "I-I mean-"
"You were there weren't you?" Link asked.
Zelda hesitated, "yes."
"You ruined our date."
"No I-"
"You were the one who threw the water balloons! You hit her soup and her face!"
"No! That was-"
Link angrily approached her, "I can't believe you. Ruining my other date...so that I'd be all free for you? Is that how it is?"
"Link! Hear me out!" Zelda was on the verge of tears; this was just a simple misunderstanding.
"It was Tetra and Aryll!"
"Now you're blaming it on twelve year olds?" Link shot back. "How can you do that? You were supposed to be watching them, but instead you came all the way out to Town Square and ruined the date. Is this really how you thought you'd get me?"

"Link! I'm telling you-"
Link shook his head. "This is ridiculous. Just get your sister and get out of my house."
Sobbing, Zelda ran past Link to go fine Tetra. Link wasn't going to listen to her.
She grabbed Tetra's hand and lead her out of Aryll's room, "what's wrong sis?"
"We're leaving," Zelda explained briefly.
Link had left the hallway leaving it completely empty. Zelda and Tetra quickly left the house and drove off.
Zelda was still crying as she drove.
"What's wrong Zelda?" Tetra asked innocently.
Through sobs she explained, "Link...is under the impression...that I was responsible for the water balloons at his date. He thinks I was trying to scare her away so I would be the only option. I don't think we can go back there."
Tetra lowered her head in realization, "I'm sorry Zelda. I guess it's our fault that it ended up this way."
"You bet it was!" Zelda sobbed.
When they got home, Zelda went straight to her room and continued to cry.
Why did Aryll and Tetra have to ruin everything? She was just starting to get along really nicely with Link. She was starting to believe that he actually could have possible liked her.
How could she ever feel happy again? He had yelled at her. He thought she was picking Illia off him so she would get rid of the competition.
That wasn't how it was. How could this be fixed?
_^_
Standing outside the room, Tetra sadly heard her sister crying. She heard her parents come up the stairs and she did some quick thinking. She didn't want her parents to feel badly of Link.
As they neared he door she stopped them, "you probably don't want to bother her right now."

Her parents looked concerned. "What happened?" Her mother asked.
Tetra painfully lied, "her romance book didn't end the way she wanted it to."
😂
Her parents looked at her surprised. After glancing at each other, they figured that it was probably something Zelda would cry about. They ushered Tetra away from the door and they went back down the stairs.
Tetra laid on her bed and sighed, feeling guilty for many reasons.
She had lied to her parents, but what she felt even worse for was the disruption she and Aryll had created the night of Link's date with Illia.
And Zelda was the one blamed. How could she fix this?
Tetra felt her pocket vibrating so she took out her phone to find that Aryll was calling her. She quickly answered to hear Aryll frantically yelling, "WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT?"
"Hang on hang on let me explain," Tetra said.
"Link won't unlock his door! Did something happen? Did they fight?"
"Yes," Tetra explained, "Link misunderstood the water balloon prank we pulled on his date. He thought it was Zelda who did it."
"Oh good grief," she heard Aryll say, "my brother is so stupid. Assuming before waiting to hear an explanation. It happens way too often."
"Yeah I guess he is a little stupid," Tetra agreed. "But that's kinda why I like him with Zelda: he could use some help."
"That's exactly what I thought! See? Amazing minds think alike."
Tetra sighed, "we've got to fix this."
"Don't worry," Aryll assured her, "I can make it right."
"You can? How?"
"I'm going to enlighten my stupid brother once he emerges from his room," Aryll said, "I'll just explain it to him. Them assuming he'll feel like a total jerk, he'll hurry over to your house, apologize and it'll be alright."
"And then we get punished," Tetra finished.
"Yeah, probably. Do your parent know what happened?"
"No, I uh..." Tetra hesitated, "they...they don't know. Trust me." She didn't want to tell her friend she had lied to her parents.
"That's good. We don't want them thinking badly of Link, then it may not work out."
"Yeah. Let me know when you're on your way so that I can be ready to answer the door. I'd rather not have my parents answer it because then he'd have to do some explaining."
"Sounds good."
"Good luck." Tetra hung up the phone and sighed with relief. Hopefully this would go as planned.
After a couple moments she sighed again; she also had to straighten things out with her parents.
