《Don't Forget Me-Matthew Espinosa》Chapter 9

I decided to change again. I don't want to impress Matt, but I don't want my dad to be embarrassed of me because I'm in sweats.
"Ohh.. what to wear, what to wear?" I think out loud.
Well, how about a floral skater skirt with a red cropped tank top that reaches just above my bellybutton?
Sounds good!
Since my outfit is picked out, I went into my bathroom to touch up my facial features. I add some foundation and concealor, put on a glittery nude eyeshadow, black liquid eyeliner, and some mascara.
After, I straighten my hair so it's pin straight. It now reaches to the very bottom of my back. I've always had very long hair.
I walk back into my bedroom and put on my outfit. I walk over to my jewelry box and open to see what earrings I should wear.
Hmm.. Let's go with gold triangle studs, and for my second hole, just my diamonds.
I grab my red vans to wear around the house.
I take one last good look in the mirror. Damn! McKenna, your supposed to hate Matt, not try and win him back!
"MCKENNA! COME DOWN HERE AND HELP ME WITH SETTING UP THE TABLE!" I hear my mom scream.
I don't even respond I just walk down the steps to the kitchen.
"MCKEN- Oh! I didn't realize you were down here already. Why don't you look stunning?" She compliments.
"Thanks mom!" I respond.
"Alright, now help me carry the food out to the table." She requests.
"K." I grab the glass bowl and gently set it on the wooden table.
*Ding* *Dong*
Oh boy. Shits about to go down. Just, you know, play it cool.
"Mr. and Mrs. Espinosa!! Long time, no see!" My mother says.
"I know! I'm so glad that you invited us over to dinner!"She replies.
"No problem! And how is My Little Matt?" My mom questions.
"It's good to see you too Mrs. Dylan!" Ugh. Please, like anyone's that happy to see my mom!
I stand there, in the kitchen. Deciding upon whether I should go say hello or just totally blow this whole thing off right now and run out the back door to Jessica's house.

"McKenna!" Well, looks my decision was already made for me.
"Mrs. Espinosa!" You see, I can handle her but her son is whole different story.
"McKenna." Matt says while rocking back and forth on his heels.
"Matt." I state blankly.
"Ok everyone! Let's eat!" My mom tells us.
We all walk over to the dining room from being in the living room. Everyone rushes to take their seat. Our dads at either end of the table, our moms sitting next each other, Karlie on the other side of my mom, which leaves no space on that side of the table. Matthew is sitting next to his dad. And there is only one seat left because my mom thought it would be a dandy idea to have the exact amount of chairs for the exact amount of people.
I don't wanna cause a scene by moving my chair and plate over because no one knows about Matt always bullying me. They know we aren't exactly the best of friends anymore, but they do think that we, for some odd reason, still hang out with each outside of school.
Here goes nothing.
I sit down next to Matt. The whole time he is staring at me.
Awkward.
I finally sit down, and realize he is staring at my legs with an almost worried expression on his face.
Oh my god
I look and Matt's eyes meet mine. He looks so disappointed.
I totally forgot how short my skirt was! Now that I'm sitting it climbed up my legs just enough to see 3 of my cuts!
Matt was never supposed to know about those.. let alone see them!
"Uhmm.. Excuse me. I need to.. umm.. I need to use the bathroom." I excuse myself and dart up the stairs.
I run to my bathroom to get out my make up bag. I need to cover these up.
Like.. NOW!!
As soon as I get out my foundation to put on, my bathroom door slams open.
He stares at me.
Expressionless.
"Why?" Is all he asks.
"Why Matt? Really! Why?" I yell to his face.
He says nothing. Just looks at me.
"Fine. How about we go down memory lane.. Huh Matt?" I state calmly.

"Let's go from most recent to two years back."
"Well," I point to my right thigh. "these were just done about, I don't know, 2 hours ago."
"See," I point to the farthest scar down on my thigh "this one is because I'm stupid"
"Then, there's this one for ever loving you."
I don't even wanna look up to see his reaction.
"Oh! We can't forget that this one was for ever believing you, and any of the stupid shit you said!"
I pointed to the next two.
"These are for when you called me trash at school."
Now I'm starting to cry just adding to this whole crazy situation.
"Now- now this one is for when you called me fat just this last summer."
Now I'm onto the left thigh.
"Next leg!" I scream while laughing with the tears coming out of my eyes.
"See, then after you decided to call me fat, I went and got ice cream. Then I realized that what you said was true."
"Oh! I love these next two!!" I said with a smile plastered on my face.
"When I was at the pool your girlfriend, Jennifer, came up to me and called me a "Skanky Ho!" So this," I point to the one cut, "is for being skanky."
I point to the other one, "And this one is for being a ho."
"McKenna I-" Matt interrupts.
"Does it look I'm finished?" He shuts up.
"Ughh. Sadly, we are down to the last three."
"Now this one is for remembering the night you broke up with me."
"This one for being a psychotic, effed up mess."
"Now, lastly, this one is when your dumbass broke up with me."
I say after I point to each and every one of my 16 scars that will always haunt me, and the last that I've had with this boy standing right in front of me.
I couldn't take it any longer.
Her lips.
I've wanted her lips on mine since the day I messed up. The day we broke up.
This was awful. What she was doing to herself.
Cutting.
It was all because of me, and I couldn't stand knowing that.
"McKenna." I speak.
She sniffles, "What?".
"I just want you to know that I am so sorry. The night you found Jenn and I, you know, she gave me that alcohol. I was only planning on having one drink so that's what I did. Then she came up to me, and before I knew I was drunk."
"And." She trailed off.
"I am also extremely sorry for being a dick to you since that day. They made me do that, and I want you to know that. I also want you to know that I only went out with Jenn because I knew that you would never love me again."
"I am also extremely sorry for being a dick to you since that day. They made me do that, and I want you to know that. I also want you to know that I only went out with Jenn because I knew that you never love me again."
You see Matt. That's the thing.
I still am in love with you.
Once he realized I wasn't responding to what he just said, he turned around to leave the bathroom.
"Oh, and McKenna.." He trailed
"What?"
"I still love you." He turned around again to walk out.
"Matt."
"Huh?" He said with watery eyes.
"I love you too." With that he walked towards me.
Slowly, steadily.
I stood there, frozen.
Hands glued to the counter. My body not sure on what it should do.
His face coming closer and closer in my vision.
Now I'm only able to see his closed eyes.
I copy his actions.
That's when it happens.
The lights being lit up in my stomach.
His lips placed upon mine, like a crown on a queen.
Moving in sync, like gears in a machine.
I missed this. Our moments we create when we're together.
My body has moved from in front of the counter, to on top.
What happens next, I don't think anyone could've predicted.
All you hear through the whole house is a ear piercing scream.

Ocean Attuned - A timeloop LitRPG
In the mids of industrialization, Liana, a girl of almost twelve, awakens her flow and follows her newly awakened calling, the ocean, and thus the path of the last remaining god. With the advent of industry, one's status and the accompanying skills slowly grow to be secondary as people choose more recreational skills and classes. The clear exception are flow bringers. Humans with an increased affinity towards flow and attunements are the only real remnants of the age of gods and mysticism. Terrors on the battlefield, saints in hospitals, saviours during drought, are just some examples of the wonderous abilities they display. As civilization grows less dangerous so does the stress that is often associated with the awakening of the flow reduce and only the real talents remain. Please be aware that this is a first draft at best. Tag/Genre analysis: Action: A theme that will appear in the story at some point (probably 15+ chapters in) Adventure: Yes Fantasy: Yes Magic, Beasts, and other fantastical elements are totally at home here. Tragedy: Life is not always fun. For what is fun when there are no downsides. I don't know how heavily I am going to lean into this genre. I want to but don't expect too much. Loop: Yes, though I will not divulge anything else. Just be aware that there isn't nearly as much looping as in MoL for example. Female Lead: Yes, Liana is female. Dungeon: Yes, there are dungeons. Yes, they will get explored. LitRPG: Yes, read the first chapter if you want an example. Magic: most definitely because who doesn't like calling lighting down from the heavens. (Disclaimer: No actual lightning will be called down from the heavens) Mythos: There are gods. So maybe, I don't know if that is enough to qualify? Progression: yes Slice of Life: There is plot, and the story will mostly be about that plot, but there will also be downtime because there can't always be action. The first "loop" especially the first 20-30 chapters will be heavily SoL. And afterward there will be a lot less. Profanity: The ocean (see title) includes sailors and we all know how the stereotypical sailor is. Gore: Hmmm, some but I will have it be not graphic at all.
