《Don't Forget Me-Matthew Espinosa》Chapter 15

I feel the bed start moving and a hand crawl around my waist. I totally forget I slept over at Matt's yesterday. I felt the need just in case I left and he actually decided to kill himself.
I pry my eyes open and the sun immediately blinds me. I look at the time it says 8:54. I groan and turn to face Matt.
"Good morning McKenna." He says with a smile spread across his face.
"Morning." Is all say. I'm so tired that I just want to go back to sleep. So I snuggle closer into Matt's arms.
"We should do something today."
"Like what?" I mumble.
"Like, maybe we could go visit Karlie? I haven't seen her in awhile and the three of us can spend some time together."
I look up at Matt, "That sounds like a really good idea. We should surprise her though, to make her even happier to see us."
"Sounds like a plan."
"I'm actually really excited for the day now. Ever since Karlie's been in the hospital, I obviously don't get to see her that much so this should be fun!"
He gives me a peck on the lips and says, "It will be."
"What time do you think we should go down?"
"Around lunch, and we can bring her pizza since hospital food sucks!"
I giggled because when we went to see Karlie last time and ate dinner there, we realized that we just wasted about 15 dollars.
"Ok. So how about I go back to my place now to get ready, and then you pick me up around 10:30, and after that we get pizza, then off to the hospital?"
"Ok, that works. See you at 10:30?" He asks.
"Yeppers." I give him a kiss on the cheek because morning breath is nasty.
"Love you, babe." It sounds nice to finally hear that coming from him.
"I love you too." I smile, pick up my clothes, and start the walk to my house.
*****
I soon as I walk in the door to my house I see that my parents are actually home.
"Hey guys! Haven't seen you in awhile."
"I know honey. Your father and were talking and we're gonna try to ask our bosses if we could start working and doing business at home." My mom say.

"That would be great!! I could finally see you guys on a regular basis!"
"Yes, and this way if anything happens to Karlie we'll be here." My dad adds.
"Speaking of Karlie, Matt and I are gonna head down there today to surprise her with a visit from us." I tell my parents.
I'm really glad that they're choosing this. I never really had a great relationship with either of my parents because they were always out of state on business trips. Working out will let me see them more often.
"Well that sounds like a great idea, honey! I think Karlie would love that!!" She says.
"Yea. So, I'm going to get ready now Matt's coming to pick me up soon."
"Ok."
I go upstairs and plop down on my bed. I don't know exactly why, but for some reason this past week I have been feeling extremely tired.
Anyways I need to pick out an outfit for today. Since it's October and it's starting to get kind of chilly I put on jeans and roll them up a bit, my Sperry's, and a thin white sweatshirt.
I leave my hair down, but take the front parts and twist them back. I run in the bathroom just to touch up my face a bit, not a lot.
I brush my teeth, and comb my hair once more before looking at the clock.
"9:47"
Boom. Look whose ready?
Meh.
Since I have some extra time to spare might as well go downstairs and eat breakfast.
I jog down the steps and see that my parents aren't there anymore, but I do see a note.
"McKenna,
We went to the grocery store to get some things. We seem to be running out. Decided not to bother you while getting ready. Have fun with Karlie.
Xoxo,
Mom and Dad"
That's cool, as long as we have Captain Crunch because life. I actually hate Captain Crunch.. kinda odd that I've been craving them lately, but whatever. Food is food.
I get up on my tippie toes to look for the infamous Captain Crunch cereal.
"Seriously, where is it?" I murmur to no one but myself.
I feel something box- like so I grab it.
"Mwhaha!!" That was uncalled for.
I grab a bowl and head for the fridge to find milk.
I search the whole fridge we have no freaking milk! Like seriously what has this world come to?? #ThanksBart

I take my bowl and throw it back into the cabinet. What's the point of cereal if you have no milk? Exactly.. there is no point. Dry cereal is just nasty.
I plop myself on the couch, upset because we unfortunately have no milk.
I look at my phone and see it's now 10:06.
What to do? What to do?
I'll just text Matt and see if he can come earlier than planned.
Can u come over now I'm bored?!
Almost 2 seconds later, I got a reply.
On my way. Someone gets ready fast;)
Just get here already.
A few minutes later he texts me that he's here. I grab my wallet and keys, then I'm off with Matt.
*****
"This pizza is seriously taking forever."
Matt and I are currently waiting at Bruno's, a fabulous pizza place, waiting for our pizza to take to the hospital.
"We've only been waiting for like 10 minutes Kenna."
"I know, it just feels longer."
"Plus," Matt adds, "we can wait here together." He's literally grinning ear to ear.
"You're so cute!" I grab his cheeks and pull them like your one aunt that wears too much red lipstick and hasn't seen you in awhile would.
Yea, like that.
"Thanks, babe." He says and leans over the table to kiss my cheek.
"Number 76. Cheese pizza."
"I'll go get it." Matt says.
"I'll met you at the car." I say then walk out the little pizzeria.
*****
We finally get to the hospital, after what felt like forever.
It's currently 11:13. So we're not running behind schedule, if we had one.
We get to the front and tell the lady working there that we're here to see Karlie. She tells us, with a warm smile which you don't normally see with people like her, to walk right in. Considering we already know her room number.
I walk in first, Matt following with the pizza in his hands. I peek behind the door a little to catch a glimpse of Karlie sitting in her bed, reading a book to herself aloud.
I missed her so much. Her not coming in my room in the morning to wake up. Her not asking me to read her a bed time story. Her not telling about her day at school, or asking me to play dolls with her.
I just missed her. It almost brings tears to my eyes, but I push them out of my Mind remembering how much fun we're all going to have today.
Once she sees me open the door, she screams my name. I run right over to her arms and squish her to death.
"KENNA!!" She screams.
"I missed you so much!" She says while still hugging me tight.
"Don't worry Karlie, I missed you so much more!!" She laughs into my shoulder.
"MATT!!" I peer over my shoulder and see Matt rushing over to give Karlie a hug.
"What's up buttercup?"
"Do I smell... PIZZA!!?"
Matt grabs the pizza and starts to walk over with it. Opening it up as he walks.
"Why, I think so Princess." Matt tell Karlie.
Seeing her get so happy over pizza makes me even happier knowing that she's happy.
Did that make sense? Yea, I think so.
*****
The rest of the day consisted of all us being total goofs, the three of us getting in trouble because we were running around the hospital with Karlie in a wheelchair, eating the whole box of pizza, and Karlie actually having fun for the first time in probably weeks.
We ended up leaving at 6:30 because visiting hours were up.
Saying goodbye to Karlie was one of the hardest I've done, knowing she can't come home with me. I almost started crying, but I didn't want to ruin a great day by crying like a nut.
My mom and dad came after we left. They were only allowed after visiting hours because they are her parents.
Obviously.
When Matt and I got to the car, I let a little tear slip but quickly wiped it away. I feel like a horrible sister leaving her there, but I know I can't bring her home with me. That makes me wanna break down.
Matt ends up just taking me back to his house because no one is at mine.
I change into one of his shirts and lie with him on the bed. We just lie together in silence, with his arm draped around my waist. These are moments I live for. The reasons I'm glad Matt's still alive.
"I love you Matt."
"I love you too, babe."

Sanguine
The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.
