《Little Rebel》Chapter 35

I sighed and pulled out my laptop.
Putting my password in, I set up Skype, pressing the call button under Perrie's name.
"Hey Pez." I said, as soon as she answered.
"Hey Jord." She said, smiling at me.
"How's everything back home?" I asked.
"Oh you know, pretty normal. Apparently Libby is pregnant." She said.
I gasped. "Really? I mean, I'm not surprised."
Libby was the definition of slut, always sleeping around and stealing girls's boyfriends.
I actually used to be really good friends with her, but she was totally fake and overtime I came over she would make me go into the bathroom and have guys over and sleep with them.
I was just there as a cover up with her parents.
She also sent nudes to random guys she met on the internet and tried to convince me to do the same.
"Yeah." Perrie nodded.
"Who did you hear it from?" I asked.
"Everyone is talking about it, I just came to school and every conversation I overheard was saying she was. So I asked Jayson about it, and he said it's true." She said, resting her head on her hand.
"Wow." I said.
"So, anything new there?" She asked.
I nodded. "Definitely."
She looked at me expectantly.
"Nash and Cameron are going back to their own apartment." I sighed.
"Wait, are you serious?" Perrie said, her mouth dropping in shock.
I nodded, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
"Oh my god." She said.
"Yeah." I said.
"That's gonna be weird." Perrie said.
"Yeah, but nothing will change." I said, trying to convince myself.
She gave me a skeptical look, but moved on.
We talked about other random stuff for a while, until her mom came in and confiscated her laptop.

I closed my own laptop and rolled over on my bed, so I was laying on my back.
There was a soft knock on my door.
"Come in." I said.
It opened and someone laid next to me.
I turned my head and saw Cameron staring at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Hi." He smiled at me.
"Hi." I said, smiling back.
"How are you?" Cameron asked.
I turned on my side and tucked my hands under my head, shrugging.
He did the same and placed on of his hands on my hip.
"Nothing will change. The only difference is that I will be a few miles away and you'll have to ask your brother for a ride." He said.
I laughed slightly. "Yeah, I guess."
Cameron pulled me closer and wrapped his arms around me.
I sighed in content and rested on of my hands on his chest, leaving the other under my head.
"Nash and I are leaving tonight." He told me, after us laying there in comfortable silence.
"Oh, that soon?" I asked, not meeting his eyes.
"Yeah." Cameron said.
"Alright." I said.
"Remember what I promised." He said, lifting my chin up so I met his eyes.
"I know, I know." I said, smiling.
"I'll even make Nash come and get you sometimes." He told me.
"No, don't. That's weird." I said.
"How?" He asked.
"I don't know. But it seems weird in some sort of way." I said, making him laugh.
"True." Cameron said.
I flipped over and grabbed my laptop, opening it and signing into Netflix.
Turning on The Switch, Cameron and I cuddled and watched it.
After the movie, Cameron closed the laptop and we laid in each others arms.

There was a quiet knock on the door.
"Go away." I mumbled, turning my face into Cameron's chest.
My door creaked open.
"Cam." It was Nash.
Cameron sat up and I groaned, grabbing my pillow and pulling it to my chest.
"We should probably go, we need to pick up our new keys from the landlord." Nash said.
"Yeah, yeah, alright. Give me a sec." Cameron said.
"Alright, but we need to leave soon." Nash said, then left the room, closing the door behind him.
Cameron turned to me, still sitting up as I hugged the pillow.
He smiled at me, and my lips automatically turned up when I saw Cameron's gorgeous smile, but I tried to stop them.
"Don't be like that." He said.
"I won't." I said, letting myself smile.
"Good, because I love your smile and it makes me happy when I see it." He told me, leaning down and pecking my lips.
"Well thats funny, because I love your smile." I said, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"What a coincidence." Cameron said, smiling even wider.
He kissed me again, then got off my bed.
I sat up and watched him as he slipped his shoes on.
When he was at my bedroom door, he had one hand on the doorknob and turned to face me, reaching out the other hand to me.
Smiling again, I stood up and grabbed it, the two of us going downstairs.
"Ready man?" Nash asked, clapping Cameron on the shoulder.
"Yup, lets do this." He said.
Cameron turned to me and I slid my arms up and around his shoulders.
I stood up on my tip toes and pressed my lip to his.
"Ok, ok. You guys are acting like you'll never see each other again, I'm sure Cameron will be over tomorrow." Kian rolled his eyes, looking away.
We separated and Cameron frowned.
"Hey, smile." I said, poking his side, making him jump slightly.
He smiled cheesily, pointing to his face (gif above).
"There you go." I smiled, making him laugh.
"C'mon Cam, we need to go get our keys." Nash whined.
"Alright alright calm your tits." Cameron said
"Bye." I said.
"Bye babe." He kissed my cheek then him and Nash left.

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
