《Love You In My Mind // Sirius Black》Chapter 16

"Did you know that Regulus has asked me about you?" Anna threw another rock into the black lake.
My eyes almost fell out of my head as I turned to face her. "Pardon me?"
Without looking at me, Anna nodded. "He walked up to me in the common room."
"Well?" I was getting impatient and forgot about all the little rocks in my hand. "What did he say? Did he want anything? Spill, girl!"
She threw another rock. "How you were recovering, I think. And he wanted to know how I met you, and for how long we've known each other."
I didn't think I'd ever been so confused in my entire life. "Huh? Why did he ask that?"
Anna finally looked at me. "I thought you knew."
"I know nothing, just that he caught me after the match."
"Hmm. He also asked me whether I knew anything about your relationship with Sirius."
I even blushed when I only heard his name. Damn. "What?"
I'd thought they didn't get along? Why was Regulus interested in Sirius' life, all of a sudden?
"Yup. And when I realised that I couldn't give him an answer to that, I decided that it was time we had a talk. What's going on?"
I sighed and flopped down on the grass. Then I remembered that it was wet because it had rained earlier that day. Crap. Well, it was too late now anyways, so I could just keep sitting here.
"I've talked to Remus a lot, and I've met the rest of the marauders through him. Something with Sirius just.... Clicked, I think."
Anna gave me a curious look. "Did it click or did it... You know, click?"
I tried my hardest not to blush even more. "We're just great friends!" I insisted, even though I wished for so much more than that.
Why didn't I tell Anna about my crush, you might ask? Well. You know how 'but don't tell anyone' worked at Hogwarts. Everyone would know, but noone has ever said anything.
I trusted her, but Anna just had too many friends where something could slip, and I didn't want to risk it.

Also, I was way too embarrassed. Something in my mind had never allowed me to think that it maybe wouldn't be that embarrassing if I had a crush. And it was Sirius Black I was talking about.
I was scared that she might laugh, although I knew that she wouldn't.
Still.
All logic left my brain when it came to Sirius and this stupid crush of mine.
"Okay," Anna said, shrugging. Phew, I didn't think she'd believe me, but I was relieved, of course. That meant that my crush wasn't as obvious as I feared and thought it was.
Anna returned to throwing stones as far as she could. "Ha! That one was a new record!"
I was torn out of my daze. "Hmm?"
"See that tree over there?" Anna pointed to a tree pretty far away. "That's where the stone landed! It's your turn. Try to beat that, Tygris. I challenge you!"
Oh Merlin, flashbacks. I blushed whenever I thought of that almost-kiss with Sirius. Which was pretty often, sadly. Everything reminded me of the incident I just wanted to forget. It reminded me of what could have been, and then I felt a yearning tug in my belly.
Because I couldn't give in.
I just didn't have the guts to tell him my feelings to his eyes.
But I had to, if I wanted him to be with me. So I guess.... I'd never be with him at all, and that thought, inevitable as it was, pained me more than anything imaginable.
"Freya?"
"Hmm?" Oops, I'd dozen off again. "Yes, yes," I hastily got up and brushed off my trousers. And my butt, because it was wet. I picked up a stone and threw it as far as I could.
"Ha!" Anna shouted triumph. "Mine was much farther! I win!"
I whined. "But you distracted me with that whole Regulus Black stuff!"
Anna huffed, a smile on her face. "Excuses, excuses. When you can't let me win the Quidditch cup, at least let me win this little game."
I smiled. It had almost been a week, but she was still pretty salty about that. But we'd played against each other for years, so we were used to it and knew that we shouldn't let the sport get in the way of our friendship.

"Okay, that's fair. We still have to win against Gryffindor, though."
"I know." Anna rolled her eyes. "The last game of the season, I know. You'll whoop their sorry arses off the pitch."
"Anna!" I exclaimed, shocked, but very amused.
"It's true," She defended herself, shrugging and smiling. "And you only can't lose with a fifty point difference, so even if you lose; if you play good enough, you'll still win the cup. I put my faith in you, I don't want them to win."
I shook my head. "They are really nice, actually, you know?"
"I know. But they aren't to us, so neither am I. At least we won against them this year."
Yeah, I remembered that game. Slytherin versus Gryffindor often started the Quidditch season, and it had been a spectacular and excitingly close game. In the end, Regulus Black had caught the Snitch, his hand had shot forward only milliseconds before the Gryffindor Seeker's. Gryffindor had lost by exactly 150 points, which must have stung even more.
And this victory was something the Slytherins took massive pride in.
"Oh no, speak of the devil and he shall come," Anna sighed, looking over my shoulder.
My heart skipped a beat, thinking that Sirius and the marauders had come here, but it was Dorcas Meadowes, Lily Evans and Marlene McKinnon.
"But the girls are nice, though?" I more asked than exclaimed.
"They're still lions," Anna said, and I gave up.
I'd never manage to stop the feud between the two rivalling houses.
"- just saying, if you were a guy or swang for my team, I'd totally date you," Marlene just said, and Dorcas laughed. "Thanks, Mar."
"She's right," Lily laughed. "You're super pretty!"
Anna next to me made gagging noises, which made me chuckle. "You're mean."
"Oh, hey Freya!" The girls had noticed us now, apparently. Dorcas waved and lead them towards us.
I ignored Anna's groan. "Hi Dorcas, hello Marlene and Lily."
They waved back, and Dorcas bounced on her feet happily. "Guess who got an 'Exceeds Expectations' in Charms yesterday!"
I smiled, very proud of her. I was glad that I'd been able to help her get better all these months ago. "The Grinch?" I guessed jokingly.
Lily laughed, but Marlene and Dorcas looked at me in confusion. "Who? No, me!"
I had to laugh. "Sorry, I forgot that Purebloods don't own a TV."
"A what now?" Marlene asked incredulously.
"Oh, forget it, you two," laughed Lily, waving her hand in front of them. "You'd know, had you either chosen Muggle Studies, or just paid attention."
Marlene shrugged roguishly. "Guilty."
I caught myself still smiling, and I wasn't anxious or tense around them. It was weird how confident I'd gotten since I'd spent more time with Sirius.
"I'm proud of you, Dorcas," I brought us back to the original topic. "I knew you could do it, you're a very talented witch."
"Thanks," she beamed, and Marlene patted her shoulder.
"That's what I always tell her. I see a great future for her."
"Me too," I assured. It was true, except for Charms, Dorcas had always been exceptional in every subject, whenever it came to practical assignments.
"Me three," Lily joined in.
"Me gone," Anna piped up, and all our heads snapped to her.
"What?" She said. "I'm not good at sweet talk, and I have Quidditch practice later. I need my food, now."
I looked at my watch. "Oh, it's that late already?" I looked at Lily. "We have a Prefect meeting later, so we better eat now, too."
"Oh, okay," she nodded. "But we wanted to bring our stuff back to the common room first." She pointed at the bags hanging from her and her friends' shoulders and I nodded understandingly.
"I'll see you later, then," I waved, and then Anna grabbed my arm and pulled me away from the three Gryffindors.
Thanks for reading.
Also, stream 'Love (Sweet Love)' by Little Mix, it's amazing and they deserve more recognition and support, especially because that's basically their first real debut single as a trio.
I'm on my train ride back home, so maybe you'll have another update soon.
Stay happy!
