《This is Where you Want to Be (Barlyle)》Chapter Nine

Phillip awoke in his own bed.
His own bed, with Phineas pressed against him, his bare skin warming Phillip's back. The young man rolled over to look at Barnum's face. He was so beautiful when he slept, Phillip thought. He looks like someone without a care in the world.
He reached up to touch the soft curls, running his fingers through them, eventually curling his hand around Barnum's neck. He kissed him softly. Barnum opened his eyes sleepily, the corners of his mouth quirking upwards. He gazed into Phillip's eyes.
"Do you remember the last time we woke up next to each other?" He asked, his chocolate eyes boring into Phillip's.
The younger man smiled. "How could I forget? The whole troupe thought we'd slept together."
"I almost wish we had," Barnum said.
"Almost?" Phillip raised an eyebrow teasingly.
Barnum rolled his eyes. "First times have to be perfect, Phillip. On the dusty cold floor of my circus with you looking like a human punching bag would not have been perfect."
"So last night was? Perfect, I mean?" Phillip asked, shy.
Barnum grinned. "Yeah... yeah. I think it was."
The pair showed up mid morning at the circus, together, red faced and happy, much to the joy and amusement of Lettie and the others. Phineas laughed with them and scolded them amiably, sending them off to rehearse. He strode into his office, gesturing for Phillip to follow him.
As soon as Phillip had entered the room, Phineas kissed him roughly, forcing Phillip's back against the door, closing it. Phillip, taken aback, pulled back.
"P.T., we can't- not here-"
"Shush Phillip..." Barnum kissed Phillip's neck.
Phillip furrowed his brow. He pushed Phineas away. "Phin, please. We still have to be professional about this."

P.T. looked down at him. "'Professional'? 'Professional'?" He frowned. "Phillip, we're way past that, what does it matter?"
"What if people see?"
Phineas smiled tiredly. "The only people that could see are the troupe, and they don't care... What are you afraid of Phillip?" He teased, and moved in to kiss him.
"You!" Phillip raised his voice. Phineas looked at him questioningly. "Well not- not of you, but for you."
"Why are you afraid for me?" P.T. asked, confused.
Phillip blushed. "If the papers find out that we- that you... you know... then the circus is done for. I can't have that happen, P.T., I'm sorry."
Barnum nodded. "That's very kind of you for thinking Phillip, but you shouldn't worry about that. I can handle myself," he said, straightening up. "But you do have a point. Perhaps we shouldn't... not here. Anyway," he winked, "we have to get ready for our fifty first show tonight!"
Phillip grinned.
"Actually, Phillip, I wanted to ask you something," P.T. said. Phillip raised an eyebrow. "Would you be interested in joining me onstage as co-ringmaster tonight?"
"Are you kidding?" Phillip grinned. "Of course I would!"

Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
