《Mage of the Abyss》Chapter 37 – In Search of One Entity

Knowing that Siola might be out there, the real Siola that they know and love – who has been lost – a light of hope filled their heart immensely. A plan to catch up to her. There is only one medium where can they be connected no matter how far they are from one another.

Ekolia.

Using their knowledge and skill to scavenge many places for money. Kurira with her brute strength and power, did as many jobs as she can within Metro City. As unclean as the money can be, she deemed it necessary. Rakuri on the other hand, with her wits and intelligence, creates a string where money can flow into her pockets passively.

Several weeks later.

Kurira and Rakuri – in their new appearance – are both augmented with cybernetics technology. With the former looking like a street thug while the latter donned a thick winter jacket and a fedora. Counting their money on a table.

Kurira sighed, “420k, huh.”

“I can’t bring that in with me. We need at least a million, excluding the import fees among many other things. Earth Sector policy hasn’t been so kind to us in this day and age.”

Suddenly, a merchant walked in from the door. With the same deep voice that Siola once rented his services with, “I brought news.”

“Spill it,” said Kurira.

“There was a transfer to Sky Sector a couple of weeks back. Privately, with a small army. They belong to a major household. Mithra.”

“That’s gotta be her,” said Rakuri.

“How would you know?” asked Kurira.

“Dola has a different air from the rest of us. Even before we met. Plus, the name and facial description matches to the uhh… you know.” Referring to Siola old self.

The merchant then said, “Be that as it may. Rosa Mithra has been running around from island to island, clearing heads and striking deals with major faction here in the desolated sect.”

Kurira responded, “We’ve never touched the major players and their gangs, I doubt we’ll have to worry about her knocking on our doors. We got this much. Think you can secure us a ticket to the Sky Sect?”

“Even if you have a hundred times that. No.”

They both sighed.

“Heard you were looking for a particular device. Two of them, yes? Coincidentally, I’ve got them in stock and those cash seems to be enough.”

Kurira narrowed her eyes down, she knows well what is going on, “Heh. What’s the catch?”

Laughing, “Heheheh, say you found the Mithra and have the taste of high life. A free pass to the Earth Sector as a token of gratitude would suffice.”

“Earth Sector? Why would you want to go from this shithole to another shithole?”

“Heheh,” walking towards the table, “True that you young ones would’ve liked it to go to the Capital instead, but for old bones like myself,” taking the bag of money from the table, “At this stage of life. We don’t really want much.”

They watched him leave with a sting in their hearts. Though those words did nothing to their desire of finding Siola and get to the Capital.

Both settled on a basement of a house located somewhere within Metro City. Two capsules were installed facing one another. They also modified it themselves with extensions that improved the quality of life that it offers.

Rakuri then asked, “How exactly are we going to find her? At this stage, Ekolia may not even be the same from what we know.”

“We’ll go mainstream.”

“Hah?”

“Forget about the league. We can pursue that later once we do manage to find and confirm Dola’s whereabouts. That should be the priority.”

“Oh, is it Dola now?”

“Tsk.”

*Clack *Clack

The capsule lid opens, and without much preparation, Kurira went in, “I’ll see you on the other side. Don’t be late, you slow ass bitch.”

A middle finger was raised. That was the last scene Kurira sees before entering the game. The edge of her lips tilted. It made Rakuri smile, “I can see it, you idiot.”

Numbers 1 and 0 kept on flowing as Kurira body floated in the air. She was greeted by a young woman whom Siola called the “System” but before she even said anything, Kurira concentrated on what is actually in front of her. There is nothing, but not long after, a screen that says "Character Creation" appears. In her head, she intends to skip the intro and dialogue that the system girl usually gave.

Her vision went blank. Once she blinks, she has entered an entirely new environment. She opens her eyes slowly amidst the dark, and soon they adjusted themselves to the dim light. Kurira has arrived inside a spacious room with a metal door blocking her exit. She inhaled the air within and exhale them slowly, “Let’s do this.”

Looking around for something to use as a weapon, ‘Even in Realism Mode, the game will still give a starter weapon to players. Should be around here somewhere.’

There is a club on the corner of the room, ‘It’s randomized, so I shouldn’t expect much, but this is a decent roll.’

! {Item Obtained}

~ {Blunt Ice Wand / Rank F / Uncommon / Physical Attack: 5 / Magical Attack: 30 / Can be used as Catalyst for frost-type spells / Innate Ability: Frost Infusion}

‘No requirement or anything, as it should be. There’s also one more thing,’ she muttered, “Hmm, let’s see. Can I name myself Kurira?”

! {Would you like to name yourself “Kurira”?}

~ {The change will be permanent}

“Yes.”

! {Name “Kurira” has been applied}

“Now then. How the hell am I gonna get out of here?”

After looking around, finding nothing with the metal door being locked. She rested her back on the wall looking at the door. Chuckled, ‘Heheh, there are two outcomes of how this is gonna be. One is me rerolling till I got a good drop with a key or something. And the other one…”

Several moments later, her mouth widened to a grin as she saw the shade of another person behind the door with the same wide grin.

*Boom*

Hinges exploded, releasing the metal door from the wall as well as opening it. The person who did it is none other than Rakuri. There are no changes to their appearance at all despite having the ability to change them. When Kurira walked out of her room, she can see Rakuri still grinning while playfully throwing a ball in her hand.

“What’s up with that name?” asked Kurira.

“Shit, thought since we are going mainstream... We’d be using it.”

“You thought too much. Now you look like an idiot for being the only Raijika Kundir. So? Got anything noteworthy?”

“Heheh, enough to make veterans malding.”

With her other hand, she opens her palm in the air, and soon, an eerie-looking staff with a glowing gem being grasped by a decayed hand appears. As soon as she grasped the staff, twin bolts of a black flame circle the gem.

[Staff of Undead Lich / Rank F / Legendary / Physical Attack: 0 / Magical Attack: 0 / Can be used as Catalyst / Innate Ability: Sap target’s Health and Mana upon contact based on the user’s Vitality for 2.5 seconds, buildup Paralysis. Enemy inflicted by Paralysis will have their movement temporarily halted for 10 seconds]

“A Staff?”

“Legendary Rank F - thinking about the upgrade I can do with it one day. It would be a nice gift for her, don't you think?"

"Hmph, we'll have to find her first."

"Heheh, you don't have to say that again. Anyway, Vitality will be useless to me. Mainly be using it for the buildup. Just imagine what I will be able to do in that whole 10 seconds.”

“A nice sub-weapon. Meanwhile, I only have this shit."

"Eyy, don't you disrespect the RNG God! Otherwise, you'll get a stroke of bad luck for the rest of your life! They gave it to you for a reason, you know!"

"Shut up. Shall we get going then?”

"Heh," laying her arm away for her sister, “After you.”

Just like how things were before their reincarnation, Kurira took the lead once more. Here in the world of Ekolia.
