There had always been something so magical about disappearing. Under the spare bed at Grandpa’s, where bad knees and grasping fingers couldn’t touch me. Hidden in the pile of old clothes in my closet, a flashlight, gameboy, and headphones keeping the arguing away. Tucked away in the janitor closet where the bullies couldn’t find me until recess was over. Bathed in the light of a computer screen at home instead of the fluorescent light over my cubicle and my manager’s judgmental eyes on my back.
An alley, in plain sight, when my ex had tracked me down again. Forgotten entirely, even as I tased his balls.
What a gift! To only be seen, to be heard, when I wanted to be. To take what I needed, free from consequence. A forgotten shade, a dream until I chose to make myself real again.
Except I hadn’t been a dream. The PRT had their ways. Hiding under the bed wasn’t enough to escape their hands, and hiding in a closet wasn’t enough to escape hunger or thirst—to escape myself. Moving cities turned back the clock, those without PRT more than others, but never enough to lose them altogether. A specter forever looming over my shoulder. I grew more and more afraid it was inevitable they would eventually catch me.
I wished they had when the screaming filled my ears. When the people fleeing the bank trampled my unseen body, leaving me with a broken leg. When the bank’s roof exploded after I had almost managed to crawl to the vehicle I’d stolen.
When four lifetimes of memories that weren’t mine filled my head. [God. Fucking! Dammit!]
But I especially wished the PRT had caught me when the street beside me exploded.
“Whoooaaa! Wait ‘til Droste hears I totally squished this dude!!”
I tried to call for help. I tried, but all I could manage was choking on my own blood, and my killer vanished.
Kept company by voices in my head and a lonely, keening angel overhead, I slowly drifted away, hidden in plain sight.
A forgotten dream.

Besotted
Jericho never thought about gaining superpowers. Like everyone else in society, he simply expected his abilities to manifest on their own, but they never did. With the help of his doctor, it looks like Jericho finally hit a breakthrough, and after a few years of being powerless, things might start looking up for him. Join Jericho and others as they interact in this world where everyone has extraordinary abilities. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ HIATUS NOTE (Please read): Starting June, I will be going on a summer hiatus (around 3 months) to focus on my future career and set myself up to succeed in school. I will still be writing in the meantime and creating a backlog, but I won't be posting chapters. I apologize for this. I wish there was another way. Note: This story has multiple POVs, but the main one is Jericho. The MC grows and develops throughout the story and isn't instantly OP. I try to write ~1500 words per chapter but I write according to what I feel is suitable. (Could be more. Could be less). The content warning tags are mostly for flexible writing, but do expect it or something of the sort. This is a story suitable for older teens and adults. Schedule: New chapter every other Sunday (sometimes Monday if I'm a bit behind).

The Clockwork Sea
Everything that breathes is slowly turning into machines. A boy yet to fully turn sets out to sea to find the man responsible for it, the Mad Tinker. Enter the world of the Twelve Seas where clockships fly on invisible timelines and the color of your wizard hat determines your profession. The Twelve Seas are governed by the three fundamental laws of Chronodynamics. Whether it be through magic or technology these laws must be adhered to: Time is a parabolic entity. It must always move forward. Timelines cannot be created or destroyed. The slowing or acceleration of time will result in an opposite and equal reaction.

Cora Carpenter lives in an America where over 90% of the popular vote went to one presidential candidate. New policies pervade the American culture such as the Better Homes Better Future Act where all pregnant couples must pass an IQ test with 90 or higher and scores are tattooed on the infants skull for record keeping. Anything lower and the child is given to a more suitable home. Or the Volunteer Tax because if someone has time to dedicate to the less fortunate, then they must of course have extra income to spare. The best part, everyone agrees to these laws because if not one phone call is all it takes for someone to disappear. But what if persuasion isn't a learned skill but a gift embedded into a person by ancient beings? And what if these ancient beings are at war with each other? This story has been completed.
