《Testament of Ezra》62. A Quick Rest

The crew continued their sprint down the tunnels as they were led by Ezra. He didn’t stop to tell them about the sights that he had seen, for he told them that would come later. Though they couldn’t help but notice the tunnels changing in the atmosphere. More machinery was seen as well as more carts they still were unsure carried what sort of items.
The prince, Miros, was the most conflicted on the location. For living in the empire all his 22 years he never knew nor heard about anything like this underneath the kingdom. He wondered how far they reached out, and even if they reconnected with Dreamlight.
“Alright here we are!” Ezra announced as the crew slowed down. He looked up to the hole he dropped from that lead back up to the church.
“Good. Let’s get out of this dreary place. I need a drink after all this wandering around.” Grimm said looking up through the same hole.
“Hey! Nicholai. Raogen!” Ezra called up. He stared through the hole until the two figures he asked for came to see.
“Ezra! Did you find her?” Nicholai yelled down.
“Nope, but I found something better!” The dracion replied as he corralled everyone over to be seen. Nicholai cheered seeing his friends gathered together. As were they to see the skinny sorcerer. They began to wonder how to bring all of them up. With Grimm suggesting the simplest answer of summoning a pillar of ice that would raise them back into the church.
However, Anabelle caught a sense of someone. Someone away, not too far, giving off emotions that she couldn’t let go of. Her mind listened to painful cries as she inched ever closer to it, away from the group.
“Hey Ezra?” The mare called out to the dracion.
“Yeah?”
“Someone is down there.” She said staring down the tunnel. “What were you doing down here?”
“Looking for someone infected. Apparently they transformed back after being turned into some beast.” Ezra explained.
“What!” Garnet was the first to respond to the dracions words.
“Yeah. I was hoping to get their blood for you. But i’ve been looking for hours and got nothing. Well. I was looking in the direction I found you guys.” Ezra continued. The group all stepped back and took in the vital information. Grimm was assured that something was possible but still wanted more answers.
“Let’s keep looking.” Garnet said leaving the group and coming over to Anabelle.
“I’m coming as well!” Anabelle proclaimed. Ezra stepped back as well. Knowing the priority of the situation. He looked to Grimm, who only gave him his look of awaiting Ezra course of action.

“Then it’s settled. It’s just one monster. Me and Garnet can handle it. Anabelle you’ll guide us. Grimm I need to tell you about this guy called Juro.” Ezra started, yet Grimm cut in already aware of the enemy.
“I already know him. He destroyed Shakes Town, and considering that I’m guessing he did the same to Dreamlight as well.” Grimm said aloud. The information shocked Ezra, Nicholai and Miros. Ezra and Nicholai were off putting the most due to the many people they had seen suffering within and outside the city's walls. Grimm noticed the young men’s expression and tone. He thought trying to send him out now wouldn’t do much help. “Come up. You need to rest.”
Grimm brought everyone up into the church infamy. Where they found the blood soaked room as well as Nicholai. Noone spoke of its state. Instead, Grimm quickly led everyone away from it and back into the main hall. Where they were all able to finally sit down and rest.
“You all look like you need more than just some time off your feet.” Nicholai said to the group. Being the only one with all of his energy, he felt it necessary to do something with all of it. Especially for his friends. “Stay here. I’m going to get you guys some food.”
“Wait. I’ll help.” Prince Miros suggested as he ran up with Nicholai.
The sorcerer and prince made their way into the city and started to ride around through the streets, and came up to every restaurant and tavern that they could find. Especially seeking out ones that had food and drink he knew his friends would like the most. Ezra and Katreena loved large portions of meat. Grimm loved sweets more than anyone. Garnet’s taste was still a mystery to nicholai so he grabbed a mixture of things for her. Anabelle began to follow Ezra’s eating habits, so he would gather smaller portions of meat dishes as well as any grains.
For himself he would do natural serving of vegetables and sweets to boot. Simply because he wanted to test out making some of his own dishes for the team. With every restaurant they were ordered by Miros to bring it to the church once they had completed everything they asked for. As for everything that wasn’t prepared, Nicholai took back to the church and it’s own personal kitchen to be made by their own chefs. His goal was to not just have numerous meals for them to dine one before resuming their tasks. So he procured as much fresh ingredients as well.

“I know those idiots want their sweets as well as their meat. But they won't be winning any fights unless they have energy! Cook up those vegetables as best as you can!” Nicholai ordered the chefs.
“YESSIR!” They all yelled as they got ready. Nicholai watched as they quickly sliced the vegetables, put them into water to boil, steamed them, roast them, even put them in a stew.
Out in the main hall, some of the priests were preparing a large table for the upcoming feast. Placing out more than enough chairs for the team to eat. Everyone watched as this was setup, but didn’t move due to not having the right energy. Soon Nicholai came back out and sat down next to Ezra, who was laid out over the seating.
“Dreamlight is gone.” He said first. Ezra sighed back.
“Yeah. Gartham. And all of those people. I hope some of them made it out alive. Question is. What will they do now?” Ezra pondered. “Failed by one of the people meant to protect them. Why do this? What reason do you have for making others weak, Juro?”
Ezra thought of the general. His hatred for the man growing by the second, even as he smelled the food being cooked in the next room. He wanted to know why Juro was like this. A simple battle against the man won’t do. He had to see him, get everything out of him.
“EVERYTHING IS READY!” Ezra’s train of thought was cut off by the chefs all announcing their completion. They started to bring it all out into the main hall. At the same time, the restaurant owners arrived and started to bring their dishes to be served to the team. Everyone was overjoyed to see the feast laid out before them.
Grimm gawked at the mountain of cake laid out. He was the first to get up and sat down right in front of the massive desert, pulling it towards him with a huge smile on his face. Garnet had a similar idea, for she sat opposite to the man, and placed her hands on the same glass platter. She too tried pulling it to her vicinity.
Ezra and Katreena drooled at the heaps of meat cooked in various ways. Grilled, baked, roasted, cooked, they refused to take their eyes off as they began to gorge themselves alongside Grimm and Garnet. Anabelle was given her own seat right close to the dracion, who gave her as much as she pleased.
In just a matter of seconds the entire main hall was turned into a massive frenzy as the chefs and priests watched as the mighty individuals chowed down on their meals which took them ample time to make. They feared the possibility of having to make more for them. Their hands already to their near breaking points for all of the whipping around some had to do in order to make sure that each dish was cooked to perfection.
“Hey guys make sure you eat your vegetables! You’ll need the energy!” Nicholai yelled over the table. Everyone noticed and actually started to grab some of the dishes including the vegetables.
“Is this white chocolate?” Garnet asked in reference to the white desert she gazed at that hadn’t been touched yet. “Because it doesn’t smell like it.
“Well miss that is our special mixture it comes with wine made from white grapes.” A chef told the witch, exciting her immediately and making her pull it over for her to eat. She cut a piece and ate it as fast as she could. Her face lit up with joy as the taste was unlike anything she had eaten before.
“Woah! These dumplings are great!” Ezra praised as he continued to take dumplings nearly the size of his hands down quickly.
“Hey! Don’t remove the vegetables Ezra!” Nicholai yelled.
“Eat them Ezra!” Grimm ordered.
“Man I can’t get enough of this.” Katreena happily said as she tore through more and more meat. Surprising everyone as they finally saw the girl smile. Far too busy into eating she was unable to notice everyone seeing her smile. Especially after a few heard her beautiful voice down in the tunnels. She finally caught sight of everyone staring when she ran out of meat on her plate and reached for more. A bright blush covered her face and she retreated under the table. Even while doing so her hand reached for more food to take with her.
Everyone laughed and enjoyed a good time for the moment they had. Knowing that soon they would need to resume the matters of saving the kingdom they currently held their feast in. Juro was on his way, and all of them knew so. It was time for the final act to begin for Dolsrin.
