《Electrosilver》Chapter 4

During that whole year that Dusk spent with his mother, he had not once been taken outside the house. All the time, he would either be in his mother’s office or in her bedroom. Because of this, Dusk noticed that his mother was extremely busy.
He could always hear her writing something down or talking to herself about matters regarding management of the kingdom. There were even times when multiple advisors would barge into to her office at once to inform her about matters pertaining the Kingdom without her consent.
Dusk had heard their conversations so much that he was quite confident at this point that, should he be given a kingdom to manage, he alone would suffice. Barely.
As his mother was talking to herself a lot of late, Dusk had been able to pick up on some rather important thing. One of which being that his sisters were about to arrive home.
From the way she talked about it, it appeared that the girls had rushed their previous year and opted to not go home so that they would be able to spend this whole year at home. And so, in a few days, the girls would arrive for their holidays.
Every Kingdom on Alatza continent had its own magic school, and so the School that both Seria and Sunny went to was called Empiria Magic Academy.
At the magic academy, students were not only taught subjects pertaining magic but other subjects as well.
While the prospect of school sounded quite appealing, Dusk felt that he had no need to go for two reasons. One being that he had already learnt all that pertains to magic from his mother’s memories and second, he did not need to learn the knowledge of those other subjects because his knowledge from earth had far, far surpassed anything that they taught on this planet.
At this moment, it would not be an exaggeration (it would in fact be an understatement) to say that he was the smartest person alive.
Although he wasn’t really keen on going to school, he knew he would have to. Why? Because you are just not born blind with such kind of unexplainable knowledge. He already looked quite different from the people of this world, he did not want another bull’s eye mark on him.
One of the most beneficial things that he had learned from his mother’s memories, concurrently, was to meditate.
Meditation was a process by which all beings with mana were able strengthen their mana veins and increase their mana pool. While mana veins and mana pool were not things that could be seen with the naked eye, their existence was certain.
During meditation, one would try to detect mana from the surrounding air. Once that was accomplished, you would enter a state of mind in which you imagine yourself an empty pond and let mana flow into you from your surroundings, move through your mana veins, and be deposited in your mana pond.
While this process was slow, with time it would show very pleasant results, for that reason, it was advised that people start this process immediately they attain their elemental affinity.

Although it is possible for one to meditate before he/she attains an elemental affinity, that mana obtained will be of little use because it will not be attuned to his/her element.
Say for example that the mana that is absorbed by a person with elemental affinity is in form of petrol, the mana absorbed by a person who has not yet acquired his affinity is in form of water. While both substances are able to fill the volume, one can be used as a fuel while one cannot.
While Dusk really wanted to meditate, he decided to put it on hold for two reasons. One, he knew that it would be of little use before he attained his affinity, and second, he knew that it would not be smart to meditate in front of his mother, a person that could easily detect fluctuations of mana. He just was blind, not stupid.
And so, he could only be patient and wait. The good thing was that while waiting, he could always increase his level of attunement to E.M pulses. As he was still thinking about all of this, Dusk remembered an image that he saw in his mother’s memories.
Looking at the person before him, Dusk could not believe that he was looking at himself. The person before him just looked so ‘different’. Was this some form of mutation? Adaptation?
In front of him was a very small boy, seemingly one year old. The color of his skin was so white that it resembled the winter snow. Atop the boy’s head was shoulder length hair that was white as well. So white, in fact, that it seemed to shine with a resplendent glow. The boy had a face that was so cute, you would want to just snatch him and keep him all to yourself. However, in as much as the boy was cute and young, you could tell that he was not naïve as he unconsciously seemed to exuded an aura of someone who was calm and collected. Someone who seemed to have seen it all beneath the heavens.
One thing that stood out the most was that on the boy’s face, right below his right eye, and on the back palms of his hands, there existed silver linings. These silver linings were largely similar to those on computer mother boards and circuit chips. While you would have expected such linings to make him look weird, they seemed to add onto his charm and made him look even more cute and doll-like. Added to the fact that the boy never opened his eyes, one would not be mistaken to think that he was a real doll.
Of late, Dusk had come to notice that his mother cried a lot. He knew that she was sad but unfortunately did not know why, he had only read her long term memory brain waves, not her short term ones. The one thing he supposed, however, was that she must have been lonely. How would you feel to have a son only to have him live like a lifeless being? While Dusk was not certain that that was the cause, he was pretty sure.

To make things clear, let me explain the types of E.M pulses in existence. There are two major types of E.M pulses present, those inside the bodies of living beings and those outside.
Inside the bodies of living beings were three types of E.M pulses: the long term memory brain waves (L.M waves), the short term memory brain waves (S.M waves) and the nerve impulse waves (Nerve waves). Of these three, the first two resided in the brain while the last coursed throughout the body.
All three of these pulses have different functions. The L.M waves are responsible for storing information and memories. They often just oscillate in fixed positions of the brain.
The S.M waves are responsible for storing the information of what a living being is thinking, seeing, and smelling at that moment, in short, all of that being’s current thoughts. For that reason, these waves are extremely fickle and fast in their movements. While some could last a little longer depending on what one is thinking about, they never stay for too long and simply disintegrate to leave space for new ones.
The nerve waves are the ones that cover the largest portion of the body. These waves move extremely fast in the body as they have two important functions. The first one being to send orders to different parts of the body on what they should do. Say for example, one wants to move a part of his/her leg, nerve waves will be sent to that part of his/her body to transmit the information. The second function of nerve waves is to relay to the brain what different parts of the body are feeling. Be it heat, cold, pain, pleasure or all other types of feelings.
Dusk had come to learn after a couple of trials that, while he could not control the nerve waves in other peoples’ bodies yet, he could control the ones in his own just fine. For that reason, he was capable of making himself incapable of feeling anything. Be it pain, pleasure or heat. However, while he could not feel the stimuli, it did not mean that their effects were not there. Should he jump into a fire, for example, he would naturally get burnt.
Other than the E.M pulses inside the bodies of living beings, there are those that exist outside. Those that exist outside come in two forms, the planet waves and the inanimate waves.
The planet waves are those waves that are naturally produced by the planet. They move around the planet in a specified manner. Ever changing, but still specified.
The inanimate waves are those waves produced by inanimate objects such as rocks and trees. These waves come from the collision of particles within their atoms. All beings actually produce inanimate waves, but since living beings produce stronger waves which overshadow them, these waves are naturally negligible in living beings.
These were all waves that Dusk is able to sense without effort. But in as much as he can detect all these waves, the only one that he is able to decipher and control at this moment is the L.M waves, mostly because of both its stationary nature and because of his experience with his mother’s memories.
He made a mental note to study all the other ones later.
For now he had to give his mother company. Having noticed how sad his mother had become because of presumed loneliness, Dusk felt sad. He was sure that majority of the time she felt lonely, it was because of his immobility. After all, how would you feel if you had a son whose only actions were to remain still? Feeling the error of his ways, Dusk promised himself to spend more time with her. She was a really good mother after all. And other than that, now that he had gotten a hold of his bearings, he had less to worry about.
Having steeled himself, Dusk slowly crawled to his mother. It was quite easy to detect her position as she was the only person in the room. At this point, although Dusk could detect any presence within his two kilometer range, he could not discern who was who.
He could maybe try to figure out a person’s identity based on the body outline that their E.M pulses made, but that was extremely inefficient as there may exist different people that have the same body shape. Take his sister and his mother for example.
Having arrived at his mother’s position, he climbed onto her lap and sat there while hugging her. He could hear a gasp of astonishment escape from her lips as her pen immediately stopped its writing and dropped onto the table. As he had now gotten her attention, Dusk faced upwards to his mother’s face, with his eyes still closed, and muttered his first word “Mama”
While it may have been rather abnormal for a human child to say his/her first word at the age of only twelve months, for high humans it was pretty normal. Thus Dusk had perfectly timed the moment at which he would say his first word. Although he had long since known how to speak, Dusk had never had any reason to. But today he did.
Before he could even finish the word, he heard a girlish squeal from his mother.
“Dusk, baby, say that again.”
“Mama”
“Ooh Dusk, my baby. Now tell mama you love her.”
“Mama, wove. Mama wove.”
“Eeep, Dusk my baby you are so smart, let mama give you a hug. Let mama give her favorite son a hug.”
As she was speaking, she grabbed Dusk and put him in a really tight hug before she started to proclaim her love for him for the next couple minutes.
From that moment till the time that they went to bed, Jade did not let go of Dusk even once. Even at night while they slept, she made sure to put him on her chest, right in between her heavenly mounds as she hugged him through the night.
Hey guys, I cannot assure the scientific accuracy of all the facts stated in this chapter. So take it with a grain of salt, kay?
Thanks
