Thank you to everyone with your posts regarding my last 'Author Comment'. I don't know how many of you are still around to read this, but going through them and seeing all the well-wishes was a nice treat. A real emotional lift.
This time, I come bearing news that may be taken as good or bad, or an ugly mixture of both. In regards to the current Aevitas that is posted, it has come to the end of its short, tragic life. I had a strong determination to force my way through to the end of this story, but that determination was not my love of the story or even something I particularly wanted to do. The only reason I was able to continue to the 29th chapter and motivate myself into continuing was for you guys—the readers.
Your comments, your reviews, your desire for more chapters... that is why I continued to write. By the 13th chapter, I already knew I had made mistakes with Aevitas (I am not an NPC). Had it not been for the readers (you guys), I would have ended the story right there at chapter 13.
Through your support, I managed to knock out another 16 chapters. As many of you noticed, those chapters were not small. I hope that at least partly shows how much your support meant to me.
I hope this next bit of news will show how much it meant to me even more:
I am 100% unwilling to leave you with an unfinished story. I know how dissatisfying it is when an online webnovel stops getting updates and fades out of existence. I had zero intention of doing that then and I have zero intention of doing it now. But how can I give you a complete story without continuing the one that is already there?

I have only one solution. It is the dreaded and scary, and probably unwanted 'REWRITE'.
This is where the ugly mixture comes in........
Tobi had some arcane abilities that came from nowhere (glowing blue-eyed night vision. I had a reason for it, but none of you knew that reason). I trapped him inside a VR world without explanation and left it as a surprise for the finalé. I allowed him to easily escape trouble with a pair of 'friends' (DeeDee and Galven) that hadn't yet established strong ties with him. I allowed his stats to reach stupid levels of growth without him gaining any levels ... and then used those stats to defeat stronger enemies than himself — as if they too couldn't have their stats increased by the same methods. >.>
There are so many things wrong with Aevitas that I can't force myself to continue with it anymore. I haven't just decided to rewrite Aevitas, I am rebuilding it from the ground up. I had a teetering tower of words. I am hoping to create something more solid with a much better foundation.
To put it more bluntly: I am keeping Tobi and Aevitas, but I am changing the story.
The basic start to the plot (Joins Aevits and gets trapped) will be the same. The reason will probably be given within the first 2-3 chapters though.
The Niamh side-story thing will exist, but in a much less obvious way. More of a nod toward the original version than anything else. Probably.
The Selene story ... you will have to wait and see.
The chess ... I might include something chess related as a nod toward the Original story, we'll see.
The Talin ... will be reworked and rebuilt.
All in all, it won't be the same story anymore, but it will be built with the same bricks...if that makes sense.
Hope all of this made sense. I have just written 12k words and then edited it down to about 9k words in roughly 6 hours. My brain is in overdrive.
