《Devil Cultivator in an Ability User World》(Rewritten) Chapter 8 - The Classroom of Freaks

A week later, the Induction Day~
Damien entered the school grounds with a look of indifference on his face. The Academy was made up of multiple buildings with one massive building in the middle which looked like a modern cathedral.
Not one to feel nervous, Damien continued to walk further into the academy grounds before realizing he didn't know where he was.
He looked around the area before finding what seemed to be a big map on a board and walked up to it. It detailed which building was which and what they were all called.
After a while of looking and memorizing the map, Damien looked through his pocket for a piece of paper his mom had given him and once he got a hold of it he read what it said 'Building Block 4, Floor 2, Class 1'.
He nodded his head and walked off to that building.
It wasn't too far away from the center of the big cathedral in the middle, so it was hard to miss. Speaking of the building itself, it looked like an office building being covered in glass panes, tall and looking quite bland.
Damien didn't care much for how it looked, so he walked to the entrance of the building and entered it before walking to the stairs.
As he was walking up the stairs he heard someone running behind him and when he turned around he saw a short boy with white hair and blue eyes. The boy seemed to be somewhere else mentally as even though Damien was standing right in front of him, the boy ran right into him and stumble backward thinking he'd hit a brick wall or something.
But when he looked and saw what he hit wasn't a wall but instead a person, he went pale and started apologizing.
"I-I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to run into you like that!" the boy's voice was stuttering and all over the place.
At first, Damien was a bit annoyed with the kid for running and hitting him but seeing the boy's sincerely apologetic look, he decided to clear up the air between them.
"Hey, you don't need to say sorry, you didn't hurt me and besides, it was an accident, right?"
The boy seemed surprised and released a breath of relief before he quickly spoke again.
"Ah! Yeah, it was an a-accident! Thanks for not making a big deal out of it."
POV Change - Michael
Michael looked up at the tall youth in front of him and still felt some of the fear he felt when he first lay eyes on him.
The boy, who was apparently the same age as him, easily towered over him by about 20cm's or more. This wasn't hard as Michael was quite a short boy for his age but Michael had never seen someone who was so tall despite not even being a teenager.

On the way up, he found out the boy's name was Damien and returned the greeting by telling Damien his own name. After the greetings, Damien seemed particularly talkative and they both learned they were in the same class.
Michael was surprised by how easy it was to talk to Damien. Usually, Michael limited his speech in case he said something stupid and someone would have a go at him like his family always did.
But with Damien it was like no matter what Michael said, he'd just take it in stride and try to look at it from his perspective before replying.
At least from this experience, Michael seemed to have something akin to an acquaintance in his class, he just hoped his family would let him stay friends with Damien.
POV Change - Damien
Damien enjoyed his short chat with the young boy he now knew as Michael. Something about the kid drew him in, the innocence in the boy was something Damien felt was quite endearing and Damien wouldn't mind at least acting his age and having friends like Michael who he could relax around.
Before they knew it, the two boys arrived at the second-floor hallway and started walking to their classroom. It didn't take long as it was one of the closer classrooms in the hallway.
As they both reached the class 1 door, Michael seemed to hesitate while Damien just pushed the door open and walked him, Michael seeing that Damien was about to leave him in the corridor alone, he rushed after him.
When Damien entered he saw that there were about 4 people already sitting down, 1 boy and 3 girls and they were all staring at him.
Damien thought it was probably because of how tall he is or his eyes. But when he saw the biggest of the 4 children looked like he just ate a pile of shit as his face twisted into an irritated visage, Damien figured that it was to do with his height.
'Why does he look like he's probably gonna start something?'
He saw he injured pride in the boy's eyes and couldn't help but roll his eyes at the affirmation of his question.
'Urgh. What an annoyance.'
As Damien let out a sigh he walked over to a free seat next to two girls who seemed to be twins.
The only difference being that one of them had black hair and red eyes and the other had black hair and blue eyes. As he sat down, Michael followed him and sat down next to him in the only other free seat in the room.
As soon as Damien sat down, the red-eyed twin suddenly looked at him and he just stared back at her, she seemed to be thinking about something and then she asked a few questions.

"How old are you? You don't look like our age! What's your name anyway? Oooo what's your power as well?" Her voice was energetic and she shot questions our like some kind of gun but Damien didn't miss a beat as he answered back.
"I'm 10, like you guys. My name's Damien, nice to meet you and well, you don't need to know my power, do you?"
The girl seemed a bit shocked at his answer to the first question.
"You're 10 and you're so tall? Wooow." Damien could already feel a headache beginning to form behind his eyes as he listened to her fast-paced speaking. Luckily, she seemed to slow down a bit as she introduced herself.
"Hello, Damien! My name's Helen and this is my sister--" She pointed at the other twin "--as you might have already guessed. Her name's Beth and she's not much of a speaker so don't feel offended if she doesn't speak!" as Helen said this, Beth nodded in greeting to Damien and he returned the curt nod before looking back at Helen.
"It's nice to meet you, Helen. So you do the speaking for both of you? That's why you talk so much?" Helen nodded as she said "Yup".
As she was about to say more, the door opened and saved Damien ears from their torment.
A beautiful lady walked into the classroom and walked over to the front of the blackboard in the class before writing what seemed like her name on the board in chalk.
As she was writing, Damien looked at her appearance in more detail. She had olive color skin and long black hair which cascaded down her back but the most striking thing about her was her soft brown eyes which were both fiery and calm, somehow.
Like mentioned before, she was beautiful with an average height, shapely curves in all the right places, a round face and full lips which looked incredibly soft. Damien felt she was quite the beauty and if the dangerous feeling he was currently feeling was right; she was one hell of a dangerous and powerful beauty.
Damien looked at the fancy handwriting.
'Mrs. Quila'
As she turned around she smiled and addressed the class.
"Hello everyone, my name's Mrs.Quila and I'll be your teacher for when you join next year. Now as an ice-breaking exercise I'd like each of you to stand up, say your name and what your ability is, okay?"
In reply, everyone nodded and sat up straight in their chairs before Mrs. Quila pointed at a redhead and told her to start, "My name is Scarlet Jaeger and my ability is Rank S+ [Elemental Channeling]."
Next up was the boy who kept glaring at Damien. He was tall, second only to Damien in the class, with golden blond hair and emerald green eyes. He was quite a handsome kid but his scowl really took away from it.
"My name's Troy Davin and my ability is Rank S+ [Electricity Manipulation]."
After him, it was the twins and he found out their last name was Asler and the quiet one, ironically, had the power of Rank S+ [Sound Manipulation] while Helen had Rank S+ [Umbrakinetic Constructs] which contrasted weirdly with her bright personality.
Finally, however, it was Damien's turn.
"Hello my name is Damien Nether and my ability is Rank S+ [Physical Augmentation and Concentration]." Damien's voice was calm and steady as he told his future classmates his power but he was unsettled to see their looks of surprise at his ability.
"What?" he looked over at the teacher who had a smirk on her face. Mrs. Quila heard his question and thought she at least owed him an answer.
"The fact you have a Warrior-Type Ability in S+ Rank is incredibly shocking to them. Most abilities at or above A-Rank are Mage-Type abilities and they--" She motioned to the other children before continuing "--probably expected you to have a Mage-Type Ability like them."
Realization hit Damien but he couldn't help but question it in his head why he'd never seen anything on the internet about Warrior-Types being capped off at A-Rank. But nonetheless, he shrugged his shoulder and leaned back in his chair, waiting for Michael to say his part.
The pale boy seemed incredibly nervous but eventually got out what he wanted to say.
"H-h-hello my name is Michael Vladimir and my ability is S+ Ranked [Cryokinesis]."
As soon as he was finished speaking Mrs. Quila brought everyone's attention to her.
"Okay kids, now that we all know each other let's go to the training grounds so I can see what you can do with your Abilities!"
And thus, the infamous Class 1 was born, as other people called it 'The Classroom Full of Monsters'.
