《Teaching Heroes of Might and Magic》Prologue: Be careful what you say in the presence of Gods

At the age of 23, on March 23, in the Year 2023, I stood in all of my glory, I stared towards the distant sun as it slowly disappeared from my view.
The setting sun, cast a glorious light upon all as it descended.
A beautiful, mesmerising sight.
I sighed as I enjoyed the sight, but it also depressed me.
I mean, my life wasn't bad at all. I did not suffer growing up, I'm not a person who despises life. I wasn't shunned and I don't spend all my time inside my room, alone and aggressive.
I lived life, I enjoyed it.
But I was depressed because, I was average, and that was all. I didn't strive for anything, I didn't push myself to become great.
I was content... I guess that was a nice way of putting it.
I wasn't special.
That is what bothered me.
I mean, I know, I know, billions have it far worse than me, and I should be grateful to have decent parents, a decent circle of friends and many other things.
But I just didn't.
I'm selfish I guess.
But I passed my time with books, games, movies, TV shows, all of that stuff.
I'd go out with friends, family.
But I'm empty inside.
Maybe it's because I had my life so easy at the start, now that I am capable of taking care of myself, I feel unhappy.
I wanted a challenge, but I was too lazy to seek one out.
So I ended up coming here, late at night, to watch the sunset.
Truly a frivolous life style.
Is this what is meant when they say that money will not give you happiness.
But it is still better to cry in my own house rather than outside.
I'd sigh once more and then turn around, only to stop.
In front of me was a man.
Well, more like a barbarian.
He was tall, at least over 2 metres, with tan skin, beautiful, flowing red hair. He had deep crimson eyes, and a perfect body, like that of an god.
He had this wild aura surrounding him, like the world was his to do with as he wished.
But how come I didn't hear him pop up behind me.
How could this 'beast' be silent?
He was looking at the sunset before turning his head towards me, his eyes landing on me and sizing me up.
Zev: I smiled at him politely as I spoke “Can I help you, sir?” I asked him, which caused the large man to chuckle.
Zoras: After his short bout of chuckling stopped, he'd look me over and mumble to himself “184 centimetres, long hair, a soft, gentle look and aura” as the words left his mouth, I started to become scared.

His voice was gruff and deep, but also somewhat uplifting and soothing. It was quite weird.
That aside, why was this large man, looking over me like he found himself a prize, was I going to get kidnapped?
Was I his type? Was he going to kidnap me and have his way with me.
Oh god, I was shaking as these thoughts went through my head.
Of course I'd encounter a crazy person.
Zoras: He was smirking and nodding to himself in a happy manner. He then stopped and pointed his finger at himself “My name is Zoras, I am known as the Primal God” he declared loudly, to which I thought so what?.
Zoras: I looked at him and gestured with my hands so? To which he smiled “I know you find this life unsatisfying, I know you are bored, that you wish for oh so much more” and then he slammed his hand into his chest “I can grant that for you, I can let you feel life, grant you the opportunity to leave your name in history!” he yelled.
Zev: I smiled at the thought and then nodded while chuckling “That is nice and all” I said towards him “But, why would I be chosen, I am as average as it gets” I thought I'd talk with this crazy homeless man, it's not like I had anything important to do today.
Zoras: He paused for a moment and then simply said “You fit the criteria I have chosen” to which he gestured at me “Not too fat, skinny or fit” as he said this I wasn't sure whether he was complimenting or insulting me “Not too tall, nor too short” once again I was unsure of his point but I let him continue “You have the aura and look I require, which is that of being gentle and soft” With that he paused and considered and then nodded “Plus, I like the style of your hair”.
Zev: I tilted my head in confusion, what did any of this have to do with being chosen by a god but I decided to entertain the notion “So, because of my genetics, my personal style and how I lived my life, that is enough to be chosen by a god?” I asked him to which nodded “And why do you, a god, require such conditions” I asked him back.
Zoras: Without skipping a beat he said “Because it is a requirement for what I plan” to which I laughed.
Zev: “A requirement you say?” to which he nodded “Well, then mighty god” I told him sarcastically “I'm sure there are hundreds, thousands, if not millions of people that are similar to me, so why me?”.

Zoras: Pausing for a moment he then looked around and said “This was the first place I came to” as he said this I sighed and face palmed, internally of course.
Zev: “You might want to look around, I'm sure some people are even more 'average' then I am and would fit much better” and with that I attempted to walk past him.
Zoras: Blocking me from leaving he pointed his finger at me and yelled “I have chosen you, to become my champion in my home world!” he stated proudly as if it was the greatest honour in the world.
Zev: I looked up at him and smiled “The names Zev, oh great Zoras” I said sarcastically “I thank you for the honor of bestowing this humble me with such a great opportunity” and with that I walked pass him and towards my car.
I smirked as I left, at best, I actually become a gods champion and become something akin to a main character, at worst I have an interesting day thanks to him.
Zoras: From behind me I heard Zoras talk “So, you accept?” he asked all happily.
Zev: Laughing I turned around “Yeah, sure, I accept” and with that I turned back around, but all I saw was greenery all around me.
Large trees, shrubbery and all sorts of other greenery surrounded me.
I stopped in shock and then rubbed my eyes, before turning around to stare at every direction.
I looked at Zoras after several dozen seconds of shock.
Zev: I looked at him in a different light “Are you serious?” I asked him inquisitively as my brain still tried to process the shock.
Zoras: Laughing heartily he nodded to me “Welcome to my world of 'Sovereign'” he said in a possessive manner while gesturing to everything around me.
I forced the saliva gathering in my mouth back down my throat and immediately went through several dozen thought processes.
Zev: “You are god” I asked him to which he nodded “This world is called 'Sovereign' and is different from 'Earth'?” I asked him to which he once again nodded “I am your champion?” he nodded once again in reply to my question.
I then paused, stood still for a while, as I digested the information.
Zoras looked amused with my reaction.
Zev: “So I'm a main character now” I murmured to myself happily, that meant I would face life changing events, earth shattering battles, incredible love affairs. As I began to become overjoyed, Zoras laughed and then shattered my joy.
Zoras: Shaking his head “You are not the main character, you are main characters pillar of support” he laughed out loud.
I was stumped. 'Pillar of Support'? What did he mean?
Like the wise old man, or the Family member?
Seeing my confusion Zoras laughed even harder.
Zoras: “You did not come to my world to become the main character, you don't have that potential, you are, in this world” he shook his hand as if saying 'so-so' “so-so” he grinned saying my thoughts out loud.
I fell to my knees and looked down in shock.
Oh dear lord.
I had been conned.
This son of bitch.
Looking at my angry expression he simply smiled as he waited for me to calm down.
So I made him wait.
I swore at him for hours in my mind.
For days.
Weeks, Months.
For Years.
But no, in reality, I made him wait around 15 minutes before I lifted my head up and glared at him.
Zev: “What are you so happy about” I spat out the words “You enjoy conning mortals!?” I yelled in grief “What type of shitty situation is this?” I then paused and thought 'Didn't he say, he only met me because I was at the place he first visited, so how did he know about main characters?'.
Looking up at him I angrily began to speak.
Zev: “How do you know about Main Characters, didn't you say you met me because I was where you first came?” at my words he merely chuckled.
Zoras: “I never finished my sentence” he said coyly “That was the first place I came to, with someone fitting my criteria” he laughed smugly “Also, you can no longer go back home, I am the strongest god on this planet, and none of the other gods are even near my level, so you are stuck here, to finish my quest” he said ecstatically.
Zev: I took in his words and then I sighed sadly. This must be what they meant when they told us as children 'Don't take Candy from a Stranger'. Looking up at him, I sighed in acceptance “So what now, what do you want me to do in this world of yours” I asked him.
Zoras: “To become 'The Greatest Mentor'” he said with a look of ecstasy in his eyes.

Queer Tales From A Street Nominally Associated With Your Reality
The street is not from your world, and yet it's attached, clinging like a shadowy limpet to the edge of your London, your city skyline stabbing into it from above. Or well that's what we tell ourselves, no one who lives here really knows. We are after all just regular folk displaced from our original realities. Just a bunch of folks with queer tales from a street nominally associated with your reality. What to expect: - A series of interlinked short stories gradually unpacking the lives, complications and mysteries associated with those who live in the street - A weird pseudo-British setting where physics works inconsistently, and houses move position regularly - Stories filled with LGBTQ+ characters, and in particular ones on the trans/nonbinary spectrum - Potentially iffy grammar, I'm new to publishing my work online, so whilst I am checking things before posting it’s a near certainty that some things will slip through - A schedule of one chapter every two weeks.
