《Blood and Honor》Chapter 34- The Tale of Dumathoin

Jacob looked at the entrance, after fighting the Champion he wasn't going to take anything for granted about this place. Thelgrum still stood ready encase the cave vomited anything else but with the dead of the Strider, it appeared done with any other defenders. "Can you scout ahead or do you need more time to regain control?" Jacob asked Chalxae.
The Vampire-Drow glanced at Jacob before moving ahead, she would be key to figuring out of the Spider Goddess had left anymore surprises for uninvited guests or not. A few minutes later Chalxae reappeared, "No more traps, the outer chamber leads to a tunnel that slops down into another chamber. The chamber is clear of traps, but something has been placed on the table inside. I am not sure what you should do... I will remain out here." with that Chalxae strode away. Being in a confined space while hungry and surrounded by people you could feed upon was not a good combination for a new Vampire.
Jacob considered Chalxae words then signaled Thelgrum that he was going in and that he was to watch over the hungry Rogue while he led his smaller group inside. After a few moments Jacob, Shigna, and Snaggletooth entered the room Chalxae had talked about. Upon the table lay a Dwarf...If they could grow to 7 feet tall. Hovering over him was a crystal. "Whatever you do, DO NOT hit it with your sword." Shigna said.
Jacob just glared at the Kobold while Snaggletooth laughed. "Are you going to tell me that every single time we see Artifacts from now on?" Jacob asked the usually quiet Kobold.
Shigna smiled before responding "We all agreed at least one of us will, every time we see one. We just never expected it to happen so soon." Which caused the Orc to laugh again. Jacob just sighed and strode forward while he studied the crystal which brought up a prompt.
Alert...
Would you like to take control of....Crystal of Endless Sleep? YES/NO
Would you like to deactivate the Crystal of Endless Sleep? YES/NO
Know this, once deactivated the Crystal of Endless Sleep cannot be activated again for...1 Months Time...Do you wish to proceed?? YES/NO
With that the crystal stopped glowing and casting light on the oversized dwarf and darted straight toward Jacob and disappeared within his Inventory. Nice little trinket he could use encase he ever had to imprison anyone. The Artifact had glowed with a gold outline which meant it was a God level artifact and would affect anyone, but it also just revealed a huge weakness. Unless someone was actively defending it, anyone could come along and claim ownership of it.
After a few moments suddenly bolted upright and took up a defensive stance as he was suddenly covered in armor with a shield and sword. "Where is that traitorous bitch Lolth?" he hissed. Jacob smiled as he gazed at the being in front of him. It was amusing to see a god could get off the wrong side of the bed as well. It just wasn't a mortal thing.
"None of us here are Drow or sworn to her in any way. So why don't we start with something simple like your name and how you got here? Then we can decide if we will be enemies or not." Jacob told the godling while his two companions slowly backed away. Jacob just made sure his hand gripped the hilt of Moonlight. The being in front of him might be a god here, but with Moonlights Ethereal ability the god was not immortal.

The Dwarf snarled before responding "That is the problem with you Vampires, always arrogant. Even in the face of annihilation you would not bend knee.... I always did respect that a bit." Jacob just smirked while he considered his options. Fighting this being would do neither of them any good. Jacob needed as many friends and allies he could get, even gods if he could.
"I am not arrogant sir, I am the one who woke you from the endless sleep. None of your brethren found you and based on this place and how your warden spoke, you have been here for a very long time. Perhaps you would consider that before acting like an arrogant god who had no friends or family come to find him." Jacob stated to the godling.
At first Jacob was sure the godling would attack with the way he stared at him, but slowly the god nodded before he placed his sword within his sheath. "You are ballsy young one, I will give you that. You are also right, none of my kin or friends came for me. From what I can sense it has been over 2000 years since I was placed here. One of the last things I remember was attending a meeting of the Council of Light and Dark to discuss the finale steps of the War. We had agreed to a peace treaty with your people. We would leave them alone if they would forever remain within their original borders. The majority of the Pantheons agreed to this, but some wanted to put...a more brutal punishment on the Vampire people. I had formed a cabal with a few others from both sides to make sure that would not happen. Both sides had lost too much, and we had exacted payment from your people for what they had done. Anything more would have been brutal and wrong. Then Lolth requested a meeting, she stated that she wished to join the cabal. We did not trust her, but we could not afford to alienate such a powerful being. That is the last thing I remember before waking here, it will take time to repair my memories. From what I can see, my family went ahead with the brutal plan and cursed the Vampire race. I am sorry but I cannot remove it, but I can provide a small boon for you and yours. A blessing upon your home. Perhaps some armor and a weapon for the unusual Paladin as well." Dumathoin stated while nodding toward Thelgrum.
The Dwarf stared almost in awe at the godling but gained control of himself. He had sworn himself to Jacobs cause which might include battling the gods at some point in the future. That did not mean all the gods would be their enemies though. "I would appreciate any armor or weapon from you Lord Dumathoin." Jacob at first stared at the Dwarf, who quickly looked away in shame. It was up to Jacob if the Dwarf would recieve anything. Jacob was both the leader of the War Party and of the House, and he just silently reminded the Dwarf of that truth.
"The better question Dumathoin is, are you an enemy or not. The Gods never looked out for the Vampire people. Even before they conquered that whole Arakon continent, when they were constantly attacked from all sides they asked for help and no gods listened. So we fought back, we conquered and killed and finally threw our enemies into the ocean. The Vampires never bent knee because we had to fight and claw for everything we ever attained while you and your kin watched over all the other mortal races. None of your kind looked out for mine. Now that you yourself have been betrayed and imprisoned for 2000 years are you willing to listen to our plight. Tell me Lord Dumathoin, if your kin showed up right now and decided to finish what they had started, would you take up arms and fight by us or would you stand aside and let us die?" Jacob asked while he slowly walked closer to the godling.

Dumathoin looked away in shame, what the young Vampire stated was true. The Gods had refused to listen to the prayers of the Vampires when they had needed help. They had refused to lift a finger when their neighbors had hunted and killed them. They had only decided to fight once the mortal races had been defeated and had sided with those that had wronged them. Could he side with them now against his own kin though..." I do not know if I will directly oppose them. I do know I will not oppose you and yours though. I will also council any who will listen to leave you and yours alone. You are right, the Gods ignored the plight of the Vampire nation in favor of the other Mortal people. It is too late to go back, but its not too late to make a new beginning. Perhaps my help will be the first step into this new future. I must find out what has transpired among the Pantheons while I was away. Please accept these gifts as they are intended. I will not tell anyone how I escaped or who assisted me. Good luck Vampire, if you wish to talk or need me. Pray and I will assist how I can." With a wave of his hand Dumathoin created a portal and walked away.
Dumathoin's Blessing: Doubles the production of all mines within the control of your lands, also increases rare minerals and jewels that will be found.
Deaths Door: A deadly blow will no longer kill you or yours, once every 24 hours you and your War Party will be protected from death.
Pantheon alert!!!!
All of those who pray to the gods must know that the god Dumathoin has returned to the Pantheon of the Light. Those who worship the Dark, beware for the Light has grown stronger today.

Pantheon of the Light
Hall of Moradin
Dumathoin strode with purpose and anger. If any other godling saw him they quickly ran away. He had come for justice and atonement, before he left this place he would have answers or true death. Two Paladins tried to stop him but Dumathoin waved his hand and cast them back to the Mortal Realm. As he strode toward the doors they easily opened for him. He was one of them even though he had been missing for 2000 years. Moradin was inside conversing with other family heads his back to the irate dwarf. Dumathoin had never raised his hand against his brother in the 1500 years they had walked together, they had argued, but they had never struck each other. After having slept for 2000 years and not one of his brethren finding him or even looking, Dumathoin now had a grudge that would not be settled with words, so he did whatever every smart Warrior would due when facing a stronger opponent with very little chance at victory, he sucker punched him. Dumathoin wore no armor and had no weapons, he intended to beat his brother and not kill him but blasting him with pure magic and casting the older Dwarf god through the wall and fallowing the falling dwarf and driving him face-first into the earth while hitting him the whole way did not make it appear that way. With a shout Moradin threw his smaller brother off him, Dumathoin quickly recovered and kicked his brother in the face. Blood and teeth flew as the older and more powerful god tried to gain his feet and the advantage but Dumathoin had rage to power him while Moradin was confused and on the defensive.
Dumathoin knew he had only moments before other of the Pantheon would interfear, so he continued to brutally beat him, breaking the bigger dwarfs jaw and ribs before finally throwing him against the keep braking its base and further injuring his older brother. "Hello Moradin, have you missed me brother? I am sorry I overslept for the Council meeting. Why didn't you wake me?"
Moradin had been gathering Ether to heal his body and within moments he was fully healed. He was angry, but he could do nothing, if he turned on his brother every Dwarf God and Goddess would turn on him and throw him down. The brother that had been missing for 2000 years had returned, and they would side with him, they had always held suspicions when the moderators of the War of Survival had all disappeared. All of them had been imprisoned in one place or another, if Moradin attacked him in the open like this it would confirm to the rest of the Godling he had turned on one of their own. So all he could do was play the innocent and hope no proof existed that he had turned on Dumathoin. If it did, he would beg for the others Dwarfs fate. Looking at Dumathoin face, Moradin knew he could neither say or do anything to convince him that he was innocent of his imprisonment. He had made a life long enemy with the other god.

The Oscillation (No Swearing)
It was an average day in Miami—then fractures in the sky appeared. A pulse from those cracks altered the population; some people's biology changed while others received magical and supernatural powers. After the chaos, the political drama ensued, followed by the discovery of portals that brought deadly creatures. They called this event "The Oscillation" and it changed Rachel's life forever. Note: I've received some feedback that people don't like the foul language. This also included my mother, she wanted me to make a cleaner version for her. So, I thought I might as well release it alongside the more explicit version. I went back and rewrote the parts that have profanity in them. ^_^7 Cover Commissioned From Likesac ^_^7
