The headless machine moves again as it stabs the ground with the chipped dagger as it resumes its previous on-going action, breaking the dagger in the process as it remains motionless like that for a few seconds.
The machine can not hear or see anything, its processing capability has been cut down by 40% of its original processing speed, it has also lost some crucial data that is much needed for its system optimization and future operations as well.
The machine's body is now relying on its secondary processing unit in an armored box in its chest, that processing unit was mainly used to control the machine's body while the main processing unit in the head manages and processes all the data that is not related to operating the machine's body. The one in the hull is also the black box which would be recovered by its maker if the machine is destroyed back in its world.
The machine runs through all the necessary data to save them in its cache before the machine starts moving again, the machine's hull has no optics nor audio sensor arrays to do the looking and hearing, so the machine has to rely on a different way to see the dark world around it once again to navigate around effectively.
The machine spends a few seconds drawing a 3D map of the chamber it is in currently according to the data in its data drives and pins down its last known location, for now, it will be the machine's only method to navigate around in the chamber.
The machine slowly turns around and tries walking back to the fabricator by using data from the speedometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer, the machine is lucky that these parts exist in both the machine's head and the body at the same time as a mean of redundancy.

The machine moves its hand around to find the fabricator, since there has some minor deviation in its calculation, the machine missed the fabricator by a few centimeters, but after a few minutes of blindly wandering around slowly, the machine finally located the fabricator, the machine will need it to solve its blindness problem.
The machine turns the fabricator on and quickly designs a transmitter and receiver, which is just a pair of antennas and some basic electrical components protected by a thin steel box, a crude radar, but still better than nothing.
The machine does the wiring and securing its new crude 'head' into place by itself after the thing is prepared and constructed. The machine spends a minute to create a suitable software for its new head before turning it on.
[/Converting_data]
The radar fires a burst of radio wave and lets it bounce around the chamber before recording the bounced wave and converting the raw data into an image of the chamber, the result was a bit terrible as the texture detail is extremely poor and the machine can't really tell which is what, and the refresh rate is one per two seconds, so the machine will have to avoid combat by any means necessary here.
The headless machine wonders what it is going to do now as it stands motionless and waits for the processing unit to deal with the data until it notices one special string of data.
Somehow, the decapitated head of the machine has not been destroyed completely yet, and it just transmitted its current last known location a few minutes ago, the signal is weak and distorted, but that mean the machine still has a chance to recover its original head and repair itself back to normal if it is lucky.
The machine wastes no time as it tries to cover the fabricator somehow before it leaves the chamber to find its head. But since the head is in an unexplored area, the machine has to be extra careful in that area as the crude radar is not up for detecting any kind of fast movement and the machine can't tell the difference between many objects around itself, the raw, unrefined data the machine is not good enough to make an accurate map for the basic internal sensory navigation system anyway.

Arc the Human's adventurer
"Don't let them regroup!. Keep them focused!"-Arc calls out his order clearly as the young hero pours magical power into his sword to enchant it before attacking an Evolved Hivewarrior while his companions dealing with a group of normal Hivewarrior, these lesser creatures has no strong tail nor the durable carapace of the Evolved Hivewarrior, but their ferocity is on par with their bigger brethren.
As Arc duels with the big and powerful bug and Thekeg keeping the Hivewarriors busy, the two archers supports them by shooting poisoned arrows and keeping Lilica and the Priestess safe, the elven mage is the only one keeping the area well lit at that moment by creating orbs of light around the area, the spell although does not cost much mana, it does need a lot of attention since she has to cast the same spell over and over again everytime the light orb expires.
The Priestess's only job is to make sure she keeps herself out of harm by staying close with the group and cast stamina recovery spells when needed. But since Arc and Thekeg are as resilient as some kind of tireless undead, the priestess has no chance to display her skill, so she just simply watches and observes the two fight as she takes note of their effectiveness in battle as individual and as a team in general. It would be a waste for these talented fighters to spend the rest of their life doing 'easy' freelancing work after all.
"Got one!"-The human female archer calls out her kill as one of the Hivewarrior gave in to the poisoned arrows, the archer does not move onto the next bug immediately yet as she looks around to check on everyone and her surrounding first, she noticed her elven archer friend is going to run out of arrow soon so she pulls out her small magic pouch to retrieve some ammo and poison potions for both of them.
"Rena"-Said the human archer as she taps the elven's archer shoulder before sliding arrows into her quiver.
"Thanks. Elly"-The elven archer replies as she continues supporting Arc and Thekeg with a nonstop barrage of arrows raining down on the Hivewarriors and Evolved Hivewarrior.
"These things are tough, who and what the hell brought them up here?"-Thekeg complaints with a stern, yet whiny and grumpy voice of an old warrior still in his prime during the fight, soon after he manages to beat down a hivewarrior senseless before finishing off the other arrow-filled bug next to him with his war hammer.
"It?"-Arc replies as he slices the Evolved Hivewarrior's pincer and deliver a fatal slash to the side of the bug, cutting both of its left legs and half of its internals before he finishes off the beaten bug on the ground
"Ey, that's mine"-The dwarven warrior shouts loudly after seeing his kill stolen by Arc as the hero smiles smuggishly
"You mean...Ours?"
"Urh...Fine...Ours."
The two glare at each other before looking around to check on the others, seeing that everyone is fine, Arc looks back down at the dead bug as he pokes its carcass with his sword
"So...What's a hive warrior?"-Arc asked as everyone in his party looks away slightly, seems like no one knows what it means.
"Uh...I guess we all in the blind?."
"Indeed"-Lilica nods slowly as she replies Arc before casting another orb of light for the party.
"Well...Should we continue and get down the bottom of this?"-The Priestess raises her hand up slightly as she steps in the conversation.
"Why of course, these things are tough, but not enough to scare us at all, isn't that right, old fighter?"-Arc replies with a shrug as he looks over to Thekeg
"Old?. Pfft, I'm still a stallion here, mate. No bug gonna push be down."-Thekeg replies as Arc shakes his head slowly while chuckling relaxingly before calling a short break before they continue, not knowing that a group of even more terrifying hungry bugs are waiting for them ahead, all readied to fight and consume the foreign beings in the cave that stand on their way.

Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. Just when the strangeness is making her consider turning around and going back home an empty train rolls into the station. For reasons unclear to this day she decides to get onboard. An unlikely, and quite impossible, train accident is about to hurtle her into a world she had always suspected existed. It was a dark and absurd place she had rejected and suppressed when she was young. Now she would need that dormant part of herself to survive. After a brief hospitalization she must choose between two continents and finds herself reluctantly boarding a plane to Oregon to be reunited with her shadows. She returns to the town she grew up in, which is where her father still lives and her childhood memories linger. By the end of the week the mysterious train accident turns out to be the least of her problems. Her life was never supposed to become this serious this fast. Through an improbable and unfortunate series of events she is soon introduced to a motley crew of characters that appear to be carrying the same struggles through life. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet. In order to have a chance at overcoming this force of nature she has to revisit the darkest and most desolate corners of her mind. ***** The total word count of the first 12 chapters amounts to about 85.000 words.
