《Pioneer 0: Rise of the machine in a world of sword and magic.》Chapter 21: Rise of the machine and start of a connection

"UNHAND ME YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN!"
The machine does not give any respond to the shouting as it continues holding onto the knight's arm tightly, the knight sometimes does try to draw its sword and kick its feet around to struggle its way out of the machine's grip. But the machine only needs to use its index finger to flick the arm off and knock the sword belt away with relative ease to completely disarm the knight and stop the thrashing moves altogether, or at least that is what the machine sees.
"My pride...CURSE YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN!"
The machine feels a lump of dirt and rocks falls onto its head after the knight shouted loudly again, the machine is completely incapable of understanding those words as all it can hear is gibberish as if it is an American listening to some random Chinese people saying nonsenses.
The knight now seemingly laughing at the machine as it quietly moves toward the fabricator to check it without saying a word, it does not even bother dusting itself as the machine keeps its all its focus into its usual works while holding the knight.
The vats are ready for deployment, but the fabricator will need 2 more days to finish the complex Atomic Furnace, and now with the new prisoner appeared out of nowhere, the machine will need to halt the production to build some cuffs and a prison room to hold the knight for now, the machine could also just throw the knight outside and return to its normal building and exploring life and let the knight do whatever it want, but after knowing that the knight has near perfect adaptive camouflage ability and also followed the machine all the way from the upper area to the colony chamber, it's likely that the knight will try sneaking in again and might tamper with the machine's constructions. Plus the machine will need to study the life forms in this world too, so holding the Knight here until it finds a peaceful way to deal with it is not a bad option at all, or so the machine thought.
"Release me already, you urchin!"
The machine quickly constructs a pair of steel handcuffs and uses them on the knight's arms to restrain it, then the machine makes a handful amount of metallic strut bars to try locking the knight's joints in place to limit its movement before putting it down on the far side of the room. Then the machine returns to the fabricator to do its work despite the knight's shouting.

"I MEAN RELEASE ME WITHOUT RESTRAIN!!"
"DON'T IGNORE ME YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN!!!!."
"I WILL BREAK THESE RESTRAIN IF YOU DARE IGNORE ME!"
"...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The machine looks at the knight shouting and rolling around on the floor in the dark as it connects itself into the colony's data nexus to prepare a prison room of some sort for the shouting knight, then it takes the prepared nanites from the fabricator and walks around the chamber to find a place to build the Bio-organic Material Processing Vats.
"WHY CAN'T I BREAK THESE RESTRAIN?!!"
"CURSE YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN!"
Another lump of dirt falls onto the machine's head as it quietly picks a nice spot somewhat near the RTG plant and starts constructing the first vat. At this moment the knight's shouting and struggling suddenly stops as well, the machine notices the knight is quietly looking at what the machine is doing with the nanite constructor, from the knight's point of view it almost like the machine is 'summoning' an object or something, the knight is quite shocked by the look of it.
"...RELEASE ME!. I WANT TO SEE IT CLOSE!"
"RELEASE ME NOW! NOW YOU URCHIN!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
The knight begins shouting again as the machine stops putting its attention toward the corner where the knight is rolling around on the ground and continues its action in the most casual way it could, the machine is quite good at ignoring things when it wants to.
"YOU REINCARNATOR ARE SO IGNORANT!. CURSE YOU!!. CURSE YOU!!!"
The machine feels a few more lump of dirt dropping onto its head as the machine looks up slightly to see why the ceiling is acting strange today, the machine thinks that there have some big things moving around on the other side of the ceiling as it quietly stares at the ceiling for a moment before resumes the construction work.
[/Construction_completed: Bio-organic Material Processing Vat]
The machine looks at the vat as it configures it for a few seconds before turning it on, litting part of the chamber up with the vat's internal solar lamps as the knight becomes more active and thrashes around more.
"I WANT TO SEE IT!, UNCHAIN ME YOU URCHIN!"
The machine continues ignoring the knight as it builds the second vat, then it suddenly turns around as it hears something odd, the knight's sword is flying toward it as the knight raised its hand up to try catching the thing.

[/Warning_shot]
The sword is deflected by a big metal slug popped out of nowhere as the knight jumps a bit from the sudden event.
"...CURSE YOU!. THAT'S MY FATHER SWORD!"
Another lump of dirt falls onto the machine's head as it quietly lowers the air rifle and finishes the vat before it slowly approaches the knight while staring at the knight quietly.
"YEAH COME HERE!. COME ON AT ME YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN!"
The machine quietly lowers its hand to take the sword and the metal slug on the ground first before it turns to the knight to remove the helmet and do a quick scan.
What the machine finds is a human female in teenage looking age, or at least the machine thinks the knight is a teenage girl based on the data it got from the visual scanning process. A blond haired, blue eyed girl who bear some facial traits of Germanic people, the machine can't say the same for her armor and clothing as it has no data on that.
"WHAT?. NEVER SEE A PROUD FEMALE PALADIN?! YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN?"
The machine tilts its head slightly as it lowers its body until its hip touches the ground, then the machine resets its head orientation to normal position before it speaks using its backup Google text-to-speech based voice system.
"Silent."
"..."
"Understand?"
"Are you mocking me with that voice?"
"Confirmation?"
"CURSE YOU YOU 4 LEGGED URCHIN!. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO MOCK ME?!!!"
The machine raises its hand up to block the falling lump of dirt quickly before it continues trying to communicate with the female knight again, this time it draws pictures and symbols on the ground.
"What now..."
The machine writes its designated name, Pioneer, on the ground and an arrow pointing toward the machine itself, then it draws another arrow pointing toward the knight and a question mark, hoping that it would be enough for the knight to understand.
"...Ah...Name?."
The knight mumbles quietly as she looks at the things the machine just drew while calming herself down, then she watches it unlocking the handcuff and some of the metal bars on the knight's right arm before the machine takes a few steps back and nods its head slightly.
The girl is a bit confused and reluctant to how should she react to the machine's actions, and after a moment of thinking she decides to take the chance and try writing her name down on the ground, her words do resemble Latin characters by just a little bit, but as it is completely unknown to the machine, it can only memorize the words before it points at its name on the ground and pronounces it using the text to speech system.
"Pioneer"
"...Erika..."
After two traded their first words, the machine tries repeating the knight's name as the knight nods quickly, the two has successfully communicated for the first time.
"Pie on nier...Isn't it?...Can you release me now?"
The machine can only understand the first word, but after seeing the girl's pointing at the remaining restraining bars, the machine assumes she is asking the machine to take them off as it looks around for a moment before it draws a line between the girl and the machine, then it draws two arrows, one pointing toward the girl and one toward the machine.
Erika guesses the machine does not want the girl to walk around freely if she wish to remove the restraints, and she knows that the machine is not only an easy target to deal with even with her magic, but it is also the one holding many interesting memories, objects and powers that she does not have. The girl will have to do what it want for now to gain a bit of its trust as she tries to think of a way to say yes.
The knight decides to reach down her greaves and pull out a hidden dagger from it before placing it on her side of the line while looking at the machine, as she slowly withdraws her hand the machine also places down her sword on its side of the line and gently pushes it toward the girl with another nod, Erika guesses the nod means some kind of encouragement and agreement as she mimics the same gesture.
[Pioneer 0 received new title: The Diplomat]
The machine quickly raises its body as it turns around and returns to its algae cultivating works, and it needs to get them ready fast to provide the knight something to eat and drink if the knight wish to continue staying here with the machine.

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
