《Rebirth in a corrupt world》A2 - Chapter 18 - Chaos within part 2

Author: Thank you guys for reading my story up to this point.
I’m proud of myself for managing to write this while also being absorbed in fallout 4 and work.
---------------------------------------
Even if I said I figured out how to make things like an Alchemist, everyone was still a bit skeptical. Which was reasonable since it is a lost art and all, so how would I figure it out on my own. Though, when I used the skill to make some metal I felt drained in seconds. The result was only a little spec of iron too small to do anything with, much to my embarrassment as everyone joked about how little it was. I’ll have to mess around with the skill to get a better feel for how the skill works.
Since I can’t make things yet, I decided to improve what I already have after I recovered. So I grabbed one of my [Mana Grenades] and analyzed it.
Mana GrenadeThrown WeaponUnique RankDescription:This weapon was crafted by an innovative (and somewhat crazy) crafter. Due to it being one of the first of it’s class and make, this weapon cannot be ranked normally.Effects:Causes a 2 meter blast radius of unstable mana.
Different types of mana create different residual effects.
It took quite a bit of time to figure out that the effects of different mana was its residual effect on the area of explosion, rather than during the explosion. I can only guess that it’s due to the different size and concentration, but nothing concrete. However the table updated itself with that information when I came to the conclusion of it affecting the surroundings.
After breaking the grenade down to it’s individual components I tried probing it with my skill. I have done this often even before getting the skill, but now everythings looks far more clear, though still quite a bit fuzzy. After analyzing every bit of each part for the better part of an hour, I got a notification.
Current materials fully analyzed to the most of this skills current level.
Interesting. This skill works in conjunction with my notifications. I even felt any further probing was unnecessary right now. It may be something subconsciously felt, but my notifications just further imply what I feel. Well seeing as probing won't do anything further till I improve my skill level, let's start improving the current quality.
…
I feel so tired right now, but I made some good progress. My skill didn’t level up or anything, but my grenade shows how much this skill will improve my crafts in the future.
Mana GrenadeThrown WeaponUnique RankDescription:This weapon was crafted by an innovative (and somewhat crazy) crafter. Due to it being one of the first of it’s class and make, this weapon cannot be ranked normally.Effects:Causes a 2.05 meter blast radius of unstable mana.
Different types of mana create different residual effects.
Even if the gain is small, just this shows how much potential this skill has. I shudder at what it will do at higher levels.
However, right now I can’t waste time. So using the remaining materials that I have laying around in a corner. I made another grenade while improving each individual components during the process using my new skill the best I can. However…
Mana GrenadeThrown WeaponUnique RankDescription:This weapon was crafted by an innovative (and somewhat crazy) crafter. Due to it being one of the first of it’s class and make, this weapon cannot be ranked normally.Effects:Causes a 2.2 meter blast radius of unstable mana.
Different types of mana create different residual effects.

I feel a bit cheated...what was I doing during the last couple of hours. Does making it from scratch have some sort of effect I don't know about, or does improving something already pre-made have some restrictions. I think I’ll go crazy trying to figure out how this works right now. Let's just make some equipment, and improve on some things I wish to leave for the sects. My new skill should improve them greatly. Though I may need to remake some of the parts apparently for the best effect possible.
…
It’s been five hours since I went back to trying to make spandex for new clothing. After the first two hours, I finally had the results I wanted. The next three was spent shaping it into what I wanted. However, it’s proving to be resistant. Given enough time and effort though, I can finally succeed.
But first I need to take a break. Constant use of these skill give me a headache, and I need some food. Hmm, The girls seem to just be either playing some board games or exercising by themselves. Illis is sleeping on top of the huge stuffed bear I made for her on a whim. We won't be able to take that with us, so she has been spending as much time with it as possible.
After chatting for a bit, and punishing Beth for pantsing Belle in front of me, I went back to work. It may take a few days for my preparations to finish. The three people chosen by those sub-gods are also waiting some distance away from the city as well.
…
After a week of constant effort, I finally finished the last of my work. The storage of food we have would also only last about two more days. The results of my project, speaks for itself.
Hybridized ClothCloth pieceUniqueDescription:This piece of fabric was specially made from the ingenuity of a prodigious crafter. The methods used may never be able to be replicated. Components mix a soft cloth fabric with an unknown material creating a superior variation.Stats:Superior grade cloth material:
Textile Strength up (Upper Medium)
Softness up (Upper Medium)
Retractive attribute
Abrasion resistant (Lower Medium)
Deterioration resistant (Lower Medium)
Temperature resistant (Lower Medium)
The quality of the cloth was as amazing as I thought it would be, And can be improved when I enhance my abilities in the future. My other invention is a surprise for the sects, and something I don't plan on making again for the sake of not causing mass destruction and mayhem wherever I go when I’m supposed to help the world.
Everyone was extremely impressed after feeling the results, their eyes already signaling their intent for various things for me to make them. Since I can create materials, given time I can make as much as we need.
Even the fairy was felt clapping her hands within my pocket, the little thing is just too shy around others in my opinion. Though I wonder if she can see everything in there, is it comfortable? She never left my pocket once this entire time after all. I had to feed her little bits of food away from everyone as a result. Though I still don’t know if she needs to eat, I should have asked Amy. The recovery of her wings were delayed a bit but should be done in over a week.
...
As we were discussing a few things to pass the time. The noise of constant battle died down in the area, though we all know not to leave yet. A few stragglers who tried however, let out remorseful screams signally the current standoff between the sects. Everyone was left in another somber mood.
With great effort we managed to message the Thieves guild. Their organization...is finished. Only people from the orphanage and some high standing members like Roone, that creepy girl, and about 6 others remain. The ones who caused this mess are not among them. With some minor discussion, we all agreed to flee together when I set off my surprise to those sects.
We intend to head to the city controlled by my father, Birgen, his rule over it seems more superficial to me and the reports from before. Labrindel is too risky with people possibly recognizing me as the one who took down those nobles. The one controlled by the other power in the area is too much of an unknown. Those chosen gathering in that corrupt city with the coliseum can wait, I have no time for them.
From what I could see and understand about this places current conditions. All amounts to Tarthus being a lost cause because of these stupid sects. How many people died because of them. Well, this whole place will no longer be a problem tomorrow.
The remaining citizens have also been informed to prepare to flee using what's left of the Thieves guild’s information network. Rather than hearing it by mouth, it’s more of a carrier pigeon type of network, except it’s using enslaved rat’s. Never would have thought it possible until I saw it.
--------------------------------
It’s now time to end this farce, the sects have gone too far with their actions. Everyone has finished whatever preparations they could and are ready to run for the hills. In the end I managed to make only one surprise. Although the description left me both a bit worried about the results, and sure it will cause mass mayhem.
Unknown ObjectUnknown ClassificationRank: NoneDescription:A variant of a [Frenzied Mana Bomb]. Though, due to its alterations, can no longer be considered a simple variation.Effects:Unknown blast radius.
Destructive force up (Superior)
Environmental effects unknown
Charge Time 3-6 hrs
*Further analysis impossible*
A normal mana bomb would charge at a maximum of 15 hrs. The unstable properties of this, thing, make it impossible to increase it further. The whole time I was making it made me nervous beyond belief. I also made sure to keep the girls in a separate room for safety, if it was even possible.
It initially didn’t have this description. After using transmutation, however, made the whole thing far more destructive and barely stable until filled with enough mana. I will never make this thing again.
…
After checking our things, we traverse down the emergency tunnel to the outskirts of the city meeting up with Hank, Lock, Rust, Tony, Tilly, Roone, that girl following him, and a bunch of orphans. The other member’s of the guild were hunted down a few hours prior as they were defending as many of the kids as possible.
Sects disciples were walking along the borders ready to attack anything in sight. While random people took up positions to flee using the eventual distraction.
I feel extremely nervous for some reason, and it’s all because of that damn bomb. This feels so unlike me, and gives the impression that when we start running, we just shouldn’t look back and just keep moving no matter what. Everyone else also noticed my unease. I just said it was excitement, though they weren’t convinced. *Sigh* I really will, never make this thing again.
…
Estimated one minute till detonation. Point of origin, my restaurant. Why? Because it’s near the center of town, and I didn’t want to risk the thing exploding on transport.
Sweat has built up on everyone, myself included. Some of those bastards in the sects started fighting again. Even with everything coming to an end in a moment, I feel nervous.
10 seconds left, and I already see people trying to run. Magic and projectiles hindering their progress and causing various injuries from those who are hit, most died on impact. Yet their cries of anguish...was all drowned out in moments.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!* *Massive Rumbling*
Nothing could have prepared us for the explosion that was created. The resulting shock-wave knocked everyone off their feet and to the ground. Debris already raining down everywhere like a storm. Dust rising and filling the air in an endless shroud. No sounds of death or tear filled cries were heard in the surroundings. Only an annoying ring in our ears.
With great effort I pulled my shaking body off the ground, gathering everyone able to their feet. Illis and Abra’s son passed out however, along with many kids.
With determination everyone ran with shaken steps while carrying the knocked out children. Only the worry of rocks falling on our heads and fear of the resulting devastation filled us. None looked back, as everyone was too afraid to see what was behind us.
I myself feared the results of what I made. Everything I made so far felt mild in comparison to what I felt.
A mere glimpse left me speechless. Electrical storms filled the air around the blast as buildings crumbled to dust upon contact as it slowly grew. Seeing this made my steps quicken not wanting to get a close-up, many who saw my face followed my pace.
A notification floated in front of me moments later as we all fled as best we could.
The city of Tarthus has been destroyed!
It’s three fighting powers within have been annihilated at it’s roots. Any remaining members now have no backing. Countless who didn't adhere to the warning or couldn't escape in time to leave have perished as well. (Since they were warned punishment has been barely avoided, though your standing has fallen further among the god's except for Amare and Val. If that was even possible.)
The resulting destruction of this location will bring fear to those who see it.
Residual effects of the ‘mana induced explosion’ will also remain on the surrounding terrain for many years to come. Its effects are currently unknown, further study needed.
Due to the resulting destruction of the area. No CP awarded for defeating the sects. Plus 1 level increase.
Warning: Repeating this action will result in severe punishment.
I-Will-Never-Make-That-Thing-Again
I don’t even care about not getting any CP, I barely get any of it anymore anyways, or the level increase. That warning was also unnecessary since I felt the same way. Right now though, I need to worry about getting everyone to a safe location.
…
No one stopped running after we collected our hidden stash for a long time no matter how tired they were. Seeing how fast Rust was moving also left a few shocked faces. Thankfully we also saw no monsters as we ran. The eyes everyone looked at me in were a bit annoying for me. It was the expected shock, fear, and awe though, none were even able to speak their thoughts. A bunch of the kids also woke up, Illis included, to the relief of the people carrying them.
Whatever happened to those sects...no one really cared. What mattered right now, was getting to Birgen safely. After a head count, we all numbered 23 people in total. The other's fled in unknown directions. Regardless I have 22 people to try and keep safe. Let's see how my new abilities will fair in Birgen.
----------------------
A/N: Well...quite the surprise for those sects. My apologies for not having the MC storm the place magic blazing, but without combat arts...yea that would be stupid for now.
Plus, now there is no city to be taken by one of the two remaining powers in the area. At the cost of many lives though.
After I write up the epilogue, I’ll spend a bit of time editing what I wrote up so far before continuing on to Arc 3. Some things will be addressed there.
hope you enjoyed Arc 2 so far.

The Limits of Limitless
Author's Note: So, new author here, nice to meet you from this lovely one sided conversation lol. I was so tired of waiting for the perfect story for me so I decided to write a few of my own. These are basically just to make me happy, but if you enjoy them too that would make me happy as well lol. ______________________________________________________________________________________ So once upon a time, there was a convienent, and slightly cliche, plot device used by a somewhat lazy author.... Which in turn, created an easily made story of how a lucky high schooler posing as a hardcore gamer dies only to resurrect in a fantasy reality, meeting beautiful women, powerful dragons and ancient beings, an assortment of insanely escentric fellows, and a certain over powered ring. Journey with them as they explore the wilderness of twisted imagination. Or for you old timey folk who like their synopsis a bit tame, here you go: Jason, a senor in highschool, is slowly failing school due to not giving a fuck. Like many people now in the year 3056, he is obsessed with the wonderful invention most lovingly called, 'True Virtual Realities'. now by using his obsession with his favorite Virtual Reality game called 'Reality Controlled', which is the first and so called best Virtual Reality ever made. it was basically the all around escape humanity wished for, and he with heaven defying luck came across one of the three cheat items the game developers left for themselves: The Limitless Ring. The ring was a support type item and had the ability to grant wishes, store worlds, clone items, grant skills and easily learn abilities. But those are just a few of the things it could do. Using the ring he successfully became the "best player" and had a herd of fans following him everywhere. It was a dream come true. Until, he was killed from a power surge that fried his brain which was hooked up to the Nerve Capsule, an unsafe prototype of the Dive gear that he bought do to low funds. The end. Or so you would think.... ______________________________________________________________________________________ Author's Note: I was, to be honest, wanting to do a collab, because to me it is sooooooo incredibly boring to write by yourself since you always know what happens next, however no one enjoys a bit of friendly cooperation *sigh* so I'm forced to journey these roads alone.... 'Tis but a sad fate tha' 'is here young'un has t' bear. The cover isn't mine, all rights and stuff goes to its artist and such.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
