《Rebirth in a corrupt world》A3 - Chapter 10 - When Crimson Blood Flows

Author: Apparently, people want death and carnage to come first. So who am I to deny them (need to move along anyways). Also a plot point will appear soon. One was actually hidden in the last chapter but it was pretty hard to see since you had to read between the lines, and will also make sense soon too. Sorry if you felt the story stagnate, but it was necessary, not everything can be rushed in this arc in particular.

“Entrance requires a fee of 10 coppers.” (Guard)
I pass the guard his money and enter the city, the greedy glint in his eyes didn’t surprise me. Linex has currently gone ahead to prepare for my entrance to the family's estate, wouldn’t want to be held up after all. For the most part my odd connection to my sister told me that she is mostly ok, but some matters need to be addressed formerly to my father. He spent a lot of quality time giving lessons to my sibling *twitch* and I believe a review is in order. I would have simply charged in a long time ago, but my sister seemingly signaled me to be patient.
For whatever reason, she didn’t want me to charge in yet. My patience however grows thin.
Each step I take is without hesitation as the various methods of retribution for this disgusting family race across my mind. The information Linex so graciously provided amounted to me needing to kill 4 people without exception. My father, uncle, grandfather, and second brother need to go. The rest are either the personal guard, or family members who aren't in higher positions.
Shiro and Puerial already know not to interfere with my personal fights and are to deal with the guards and small fries.
As I reviewed the information, I noticed an odd amount of tension floating around as I walked the streets. For whatever reason, this place seemed a lot less...active. Merchants weren’t even actively trying to sell their items in the trade quarter. I didn’t really care for the people here, especially when I recall when I was but an infant.
Even so I grew fed up with the atmosphere and ‘asked’ a passerby what the situation was.
Turns out, the guest that supposedly left my family's estate a while back returned with blatant threats. Something about not following through with a promise and ignoring traditions. Didn’t Linex say something about having a fiance...I didn’t really care since it felt more like the usual begging for me.
I’ll have to inquire about this later if I feel like it.
…
My walk came to a close as a large gate with various designs and such appeared along my path, whatever it was meant to make people feel was lost on me. It just seemed like a stupidly large door.
The guards who were meant to impede all who pass without either being a resident or have an invitation were frozen in place as their eyes became bloodshot from being unable to blink. I would have rewarded them for their dedication if they weren’t so lenient with their duty as I passed by.

As I stepped into the estate I felt elated for some reason. Whatever this feeling was didn’t seem to do anything other than give a subtle feeling of excitement.
I gazed around as I see various guards walking around mechanically as the residents kept trying to get their attention. They seemed to be quite angry as they kept yelling such colorful words to the hard working guards. Since I’m a nice person, I incapacitated the trouble makers so the guards can continue their business.
As my group traversed the estate, we encountered various individuals who always seemed to begin the conversation with some demands. The hubris in their eyes always mysteriously disappeared when they found themselves on the ground with various lacerations across their body.
After a short while Linex soon finally appeared, saying that he used all of the needles on all of the designated people. I congratulated his efforts as his head descended toward the floor with a smile attached.
“What the hell is going on!” (Loud guy)
Hmm, did one of the heads finally realize the situation. Took them long enough, I was worried it would end without any resistance.
Shiro and Puerial took this loud guys appearance as a signal to separate and either kill or subdue anyone they encounter. If they meet anyone too strong, they are to head to the main plaza after sending a signal. I would also be able to detect any sudden distress from them, so I wasn’t worried.
So this left me alone in front of the loud and really old man, as my brothers body grew cold on the floor. I was hoping for my father to appear, but this guy needs to die all the same as he is the former head of the family, seeing as an insignia is securely placed on his chest, reading the words 'old one' in the center, unlike the others. Time wasn’t kind to this guy though, I think he has crows feet on top of his crows feet.
“Brat explain wha-” (Loud old man)
It seems he finally notices Linex. I didn’t know pupils can really shrink so much.
“You...you did this, didn’t you!” (Loud old man)
“I think you're getting too old if it takes you this long to realize the situation.” (Kuro)
I think my comment struck a nerve. His white wrinkled face became a deep red as he began charging at me.
I stopped his approaching fist with my own that has been clad in flames. This causes his shriveled face to darken as he retreats a few steps. Within moments he disappeared as I focus on his approaching killing intent.
Ducking to the side, I counter his attack with an enhanced version of [Wind Cutter]. unfortunately, the old fart dodges with panic in his eyes. I was hoping he would just die since that spell is hard to detect. It seems some things hasn’t faded away in his old age.
Having gotten serious due to the exchange begins to circulate mana around him. He charges at me again with movements far more defined than before as he targets my neck with a blade he pulled out of his sleeves. To counter his increased speed, I clad myself in wind mana. Our exchange didn’t last long as the old man slowly began losing his breath.

I’m not one to let opportunities go. I already analyzed some of his habits. He favors his left leg most likely due to an injury in the past, healing magic can only do so much on it’s own after all.
I used [Bloodwake Step] and appear at his side. His ability to react is dulled since this side carries his bad leg. In one quick motion his right arm was separated from his shoulder. His screams filled the surroundings as he tried to retaliate. The attempt he made to kill me fell short as he didn’t realize his remaining arm was bound by water.
The shock on his face only grew as he was bound to the ground with earth magic. I didn’t want him to break free and run, so I proceeded to pierce his limbs to the floor using the weapons the guards carried. The screams he made as he demanded the guards to assist him should draw in more people to either kill or enslave.
I waited by the corpse looking old man as the people who came to investigate tried to flee. A few didn’t get far though, as the remaining needles I had left pierced each of them. Those were going to be the lucky ones, or not based on ones perspective of the situation.
I heard a lot of screams in the distance where Shiro and Puerial went. Shiro and Puerial most likely ran out of needles as well and have begun killing whoever was left. It was agreed that those not under control will die. The only exception would be if they were extremely young, enough so that they weren’t influenced too much by their upbringing.
...
I grew tired of waiting around as the growing pile of bodies no longer appealed to me and ended the old man. With light steps I headed toward the grandest building I could make out. The odds that the main members were residing there were high, if it wasn’t already obvious. Disappointing how they didn’t show up to investigate the situation.
I kicked the door down as I observed my surroundings. Some idiots were screaming as they shielded some girl in a standard formation along with some scholarly looking fellow to the side. The expression on the girls face seemed to think nothing of me as she flicked her wrist in my direction. The guy to the side showed a smug grin as the others began chanting a ridiculously long spell.
A strong surge of mana quickly approached me. It was obviously from the girl and I was impressed that she didn’t chant anything to cast whatever spell it is. With some proper analysis, the group seemed to be the guests I heard about. This conclusion came from the matching blue robes they all wore. Red was the constant color I saw on most of the people here. These guys are really simple.
I used my movement skill to move around the blast radius as I ignored the girls shocked expression. As the men were unable to finish their chants as they were blown away with a strengthened [Mana Wave]
“I’ll deal with you're family later.” (Kuro)
I didn’t really care for conversation as I kicked her away. Her guards also realized they needed to flee rather than fight. This should strike some fear in them for the time I come to visit. I wonder what they will do to stop me, how exciting.
My gaze switched to the smug scholarly fellow, scratch that, I looked toward a failure of a man. The guy started soiling himself as he began fleeing with his movement skill. Is my family really so weak. Why the hell did I wait so long to lay siege to this place.
Wasn’t this place supposed to be some dangerous area far beyond me!
In my frustration, I moved in front of the disgusting trash that started begging for mercy. This guy was too panicked to properly use the movement technique properly. This technique is truly wasted on him. He seems the type to step on whoever he likes while groveling to those above him as well. Such a revolting person.
I no remorse as my blade pierced his heart.
The girl and her guards are still immobilized with fear on the ground. Such...weak willed people are causing such mayhem...to the surroundings? This must be some kind of joke.
“Why the hell is trash like you calling the shots!” (Kuro)
In my anger a launched multiple earth spikes into the chests of each of the girls guards. The girl who seemed so indifferent before was looking at me in fear. The smell of excrement slowly filled the air as I grew close.
“Had an accident? Not very lady like you know. You best head home, or something worse might happen.” (Kuro)
“...” (Girl)
“Now!” (Kuro)
...Finally, I thought she would never leave. Any longer and I would have just killed her. Hopefully I will feel a bit better when I visit her estate after her family gets the message. Well, that's if she reaches her home that is. I think I heard reports of increased {Gork} activity in the area. So if she fails to get home, to bad for her.
“What the hell! Brian!”
Oh, he looks like my father...but not quite close enough. Must be my uncle. I believe Linex said something about greetings when we first met.
“Yo uncle, come and pay your respects to your nephew. If you're sincere enough, I'll spare you a bit of torture. I can't guarantee the safety of your member though.” (Kuro)
Oh, his blood vessels are bulging from his head. He should watch his blood pressure.
“You...This is the end brat...I will ensure you suffer gre-” (Uncle)
“Enough with the cliche lines and come at me.” (Kuro)
“You little...DIE!” (Uncle)
Let’s see if this guy won't disappoint me.

A/N: Next chapter will be the end of this bit. Though I will say now that things won't turn out like you guys assume, so wait for it.

The Yes-Mage
Plenty of people have stopped and asked what it'd be like to simply have everything, and Sylvain Henry Camille Johansson was no different. He was a man who had a lot of things going on, with a name that'd make a supervillain blush and a family who'd make even the useless of their rank into someone important. It was a shame, then, that he was slapped with a dreadfully unfortunate condition that kept him from living up to any of those already low expectations. Stuck living a life where magic is everywhere while he's left working with nothing more than a moderate intellect, a little bit of whatever influence he could get from his family, and a lifetime's practice at making himself the ideal subordinate for his bosses' boss, Vane was still beating the odds and slowly working his way up in the world. When the cunning yes-man finally got a chance to really make a name for himself, he leapt at the offer, taking his first real step onto a road he knew he was always meant to walk. His goal? Nothing less than finding out why he and too many other unfortunate souls are barred from the wonderful world of the higher energies, and with any luck, fixing it. Of course, life has a knack for interfering in even the humblest of plans, and Vane's lofty ideals were anything but humble; he was practically a walking bullseye for disaster. The funny thing about catastrophe, though, is that nobody can ever say what form it's going to take. That’s why, when it all went wrong for Vane, he'd gotten everything he'd ever wanted foisted onto him, and Everything else, too. Watch as a man so used to saying 'yes' to everyone above him finds himself stuck with the power to make reality itself say it back.

Will Jon and his young cousins follow in the dark footsteps of their family or will they set out on their own path? Author's Notes: My work is often graphic and mature in nature. I only recommend it for the fans who are not faint of heart. This work will contain swears, violence and occasional sexual dialogue. With that fair warning done, I plan to constantly edit previous chapters as I go back to them, so they are all subject to change over time. Most of the events will remain the same but as I get more time to write I'd like to add details that I couldn't add while constrained for time. Thank you for taking the time to check out Monolith! Really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy it and look forward to the upcoming events!
