I just picked up the toddler and handed her back to them as she started crying saying something about a flower. Her meaning was very obvious to me, and her parents didn’t help when they suddenly started sniffing me. Though me just walking away seemed to surprise the onlookers, I just ignored the event as it wasn’t the first time. Since then their guard around me wasn’t so severe and over time ended up how it is now.

Amare’s dwelling Kuro's POV for now

Right now, I can't help feel nervous under Amare’s scolding gaze. My fight with that man in Concord turned out to leave my body with a few nasty surprises that I hadn’t initially noticed. If It weren’t for the fact that I often check my physical condition it may have been a nasty situation to deal with later.

To use the surrounding mana to invade my body to the extent I hadn’t noticed. He no doubt planned to trigger a lethal effect to cripple me during the fight. If I hadn’t played against his emotions, I no doubt would have died. This information has left me in a really somber mood.

“So, how is your body's condition? Will it take long to recover?” (Amare)

“A day at most if I continuously heal myself as I remove the foreign mana. To think I was so negligent to underestimate his control over the surrounding mana. If I hadn't taken advantage of his emotions, I can't say the outcome would have been like it was.” (Kuro)

“Take this as a lesson then. If not for your healing abilities, it wouldn’t be surprising if your body became crippled within a week.” (Amare)

“Yea, I’ll be more careful.” (Kuro)

I couldn’t help honestly nod at Amare’s words. It goes without saying that I really had underestimated my opponent. A mistake that would have had severe repercussions. Just because my opponent wasn’t used to his growth in strength didn’t mean he didn’t have a few tricks. This is a lesson I will properly reflect on as I have indeed become overconfident of my strength in this area.

Closing the screen she wasted no time to depart from her home to the governance room in the assembly hall where the Gods meet. As her entrance to the building wasn't to meet with the others she was currently the only one present as she made her way into a room resembling a war room filled with all sorts of tomes and scrolls of Tenebris’ history and a map of the entire continent in the center of the room. Only to silently wait in one of the seats placed near a desk with all sorts of ancient documents that have been perfectly preserved with godly magic.

In a few moment a low rumble was felt as the space in front of her rippled and slowly revealed the figure of a middled aged man of a strong and firm physic which brimmed with vigor while his eyes contained an ancient light that couldn’t be masked.

He turned to Amare as he gave a light smile and greeted her as he took a seat with a slightly confused expression.

“Amare, it's been too long. I was expecting to see Cosmian before heading over to see you, it seems things haven’t been simple here I take it. How have you fared with this assignment thus far?” (Ancient High-God)

“Truthfully Ordom, it hasn’t been easy over here. However, after a few events took place and a bit of luck, we managed to turn things around and are heading in the right direct. Here is the report to bring you up to speed.” (Amare)

Seeing Amare truly startled Ordom as he recalled the higher ups placing Cosmian in charge of Tenebris after demoting the previous group for their failure. After taking the thick document from Amare, he wasted no time and thoroughly absorb the information within with but a thought.

Moments after he finished reflecting upon the information his eyes couldn’t hide the worry they held as he sighed gently.

“It seems they are here too.” (Ordom)

“I’m sorry?” (Amare)

“*Sigh* This organization, what do you know of it?” (Ordom)

“Where do I start? They are extremely secretive, to the point that there are no records of them even here. What's more surprising though is that they obviously discovered our connection with Gulan (Pervert) but still used him in order to try and kill the other chosen as if us being involved meant nothing to them.” (Amare)

“Say no more. Amare, this group, they are most likely not only a group of mind mages and are much more diverse and powerful in actuality. It was discovered from various reports that this group is based in not just this world, but many others. In truth, many of us came to discover recently that a few worlds have been deemed unsaveable because of them when reviewing past records.

The only reason we know this much is due to the collective information that was gathered from various other worlds bearing too many similarities in activities. When everything was gathered together, it became obvious that this group is being backed by someone. Only, the one in this world seems to be more of a scouting party as their activities always start with infiltration via mind magic to insight disorder.” (Ordom)

“Wait! How has such a group gone unnoticed for so long, especially if they caused worlds to become unsaveable. You know how much such a thing affects us.” (Amare)

Amare couldn’t help shouting in shock when she heard this information. What type of joke is it for an organization of mortals to span worlds solely to cause them to fall into ruin. Not to mention for it to go unnoticed till this point.

“Unfortunately, the chaos we were undergoing in the past plus this new system diverted too much of our attention. Our enemies took advantage of our weakness at the time to remain unchecked. By the time we regained our footing, they removed almost all traces of their presence. Plus, a few of us became aware of them having spies littered everywhere. Now no one aware of the situation knows who to trust anymore except for an exempt few who were proven innocent. I wouldn’t even be telling you this if it wasn’t for the fact I know you aren’t a traitor as well based on our history. The fact is, we don't even know who our enemies are. We can’t fight what we can't see, and they know it. We only came this far by secretly gathering the information ourselves and not via the normal channels.” (Ordom)

Ordom had an extremely tired and bitter face as he tried to explain the current circumstance they are facing. It was as if he grew visibly older just thinking about it.

“This...wait, then the one I encountered…” (Amare)

“What was that? Who did you encounter?” (Ordom)

Amare’s comment caused a startled expression to appear in Ordom’s expression. Any information at this point would greatly help him and the others and he couldn’t help becoming restless.

“First I should explain a few things. As you know from the report. My chosen, Kuro, is a black listed soul.”

“Yes, I was curious about that. We don't normally enlist help from souls that fall under that list since they usually have various problems that make it difficult to deal with them, though there are exceptions. Regardless blacklist souls have a horrible reputation.” (Ordom)

“Indeed that is so, and as you have read, the others only agreed to allow him to enter Tenebris after their chosen had more time to spend getting stronger as they didn’t want them to be endangered by mine, should he have malicious intentions. His rapid progress also caused them to actively try to hinder him as well. Though I won't go further into that matter.

The main issue is when his soul was held in the void space to wait out the time for his entrance after he was introduced to his mission. He’s not aware of it, but someone deliberately tried to destroy his soul when he was there. I detected an invading force inside the void space as I had personally placed a seal on his soul to help time for him pass more quickly. It signaled me of the danger. When I went to intervened the individual already left as he couldn’t break the seal before my arrival.” (Amare)

“What? Why would someone try to destroy his soul?” (Ordom)

“I wondered that as well, so I did some further investigation on him. As you know, many ancient souls were wiped from existence in the past. But it appeared that he avoided that fate as I discovered that he is indeed an ancient soul. As souls pass through an automatic inspection when placed into the void space our enemies discovered it before I did.” (Amare)

“Wait! I thought none of the ancient souls survived the purge by that bastard Devordo and his followers with that accursed weapon. We were forced to enlighten so many young souls because of it to compensate our losses. *Ugh* Using such immature souls to birth the next generation of godlings was something none of us wished to do. The potential they have alone is far too feeble compared to our forefathers. Not to mention the losses we ourselves have to endure due to the destruction of the Heavenly Well.” (Ordom)

Hearing about an ancient soul still existing after knowing they were all supposedly wiped out in the past seriously alarmed Ordom. The possibility of others still remaining also flitted across his mind. As ancient souls take a staggeringly long time to form, even gods can't help lament how long it takes even with their long lived existence.

“Our losses aside, let’s remain focused.” (Amare)

Ordom noticed the sadness filling Amares gaze as he became apologetic at his tactlessness.

“Ah, my apologies. I lost myself a bit and forgot this isn’t a subject you like to discuss. Please continue.” (Ordom)

“*Sigh* I don’t know how he avoided being destroyed nor remain undetected all this time. Him being blacklisted merely helped me discover something horrible that made me ashamed as I hadn’t initially noticed it. There are various ways to fall into the blacklist and the one that landed him in was a rather dreadful curse that I have already removed. Unfortunately, in order to do so, I had to endanger him to another curse that he has to deal with now as curses aren't my forte and I was cautious of the people around me.” (Amare)

“Curse? What type of curse did he have?” (Ordom)

“{The Curse of Tragic End}.” (Amare)

Hearing that particular phrase left a blank expression on Ordoms face before it manifested into one of pure fury as he broke the chair he sat on before aggressively pulling another one over.

“That curse was banned long ago! Wait...this only means…” (Ordom)

“Yes, we failed to discover him and allowed it torment him through the countless incarnations he has lived through until now.” (Amare)

{The Curse of Tragic End} a forbidden curse Dark Gods used to fervently use before it was inevitably wiped away through a lot of effort and is no longer possible to be practiced. It was discovered to have drastic effects on the balance of worlds as it instigated Karma to negatively affect the victim and shift worlds into a more evil state to cause various tragedies.

As many Gods work to keep worlds balanced, it was something that couldn’t be tolerated. Many gods of kind dispositions also abhorred the curse as well due to it’s nature to inflict suffering upon the victim before leading to their death, Ordom was one such god.

Taken many deep breaths to settle himself, Ordom finally managed to calm down.

“His last life…” (Ordom)

As if just a whisper, Ordom spoke barely capable of asking a question he didn’t necessarily want the answer to. As one who enjoys seeing people prosper and grow the thought of what Kuro endured left him considerably saddened.

“Even if his life saved a lot of people in the end, it wasn’t a good one. I was only able to do so much with my limited ability to intervene, especially since I didn't know of the curse. Though, at least one person he cared about survived, even if he knew her only briefly.” (Amare)

“...What happened to us, to allow so many things to go wrong. How much does he know?” (Ordom)

“He knows nothing of the curse as the one I had to stick him with thrives off of negative emotion. It’s drains away at his feelings making him less than human bit by bit. The main reason why I push him to interact with people and build relationships is to counter it. Before entering Tenebris, he was a rather emotional fellow. Now...unless he gets stronger, the curse will devour him.

The troublesome part is his races awakening temporarily allows the curse to become many folds stronger. I can't fathom how it came to exist in a mortal world. Though if our enemies have their hands all over the place I can't say they hadn’t had a hand in it. If anything I will have to investigate his race even further, though the records in this place aren’t reliable so I can’t guarantee I’ll find anything. Kuro on the other hand may find answers on his end.” (Amare)

“Amare, do whatever it takes to keep him alive. If he dies, our enemies will have a shot at killing him permanently. They can’t act as openly as they used too, but we can’t risk it. I will head back to the others and tell them what I’ve discovered. Be careful.” (Ordom)

Ordom didn’t dally further as he couldn’t bare to sit idle with this news, as an existing ancient soul was very important information not to mention the possibility of actual contact with the enemy. He immediately left to inform his allies.

Seeing him leave Amare gave a long sigh before departing to her dwelling. She couldn’t help reminisce about how simple her life used to be and the things she will have to inform Val of as she is the only other person she can truly trust in this place.
