《Ula (read description.)》Chapter 15 - The ancient room
Advertisement
Deeper and deeper into the mountain I walked, this passage seemed to span for eternity, It also seemed to slope downwards.
Finally, from walking for god knows how long in this dark, cramped passage I came to a room where the passage led into, the room was full of strange markings, pictograms and ancient writing lined the walls, ceiling and the floor, it was like walking into a piece of art, you could tell it was ancient but it was in pristine condition, it looked untouched and extremely ancient.
“Woah” I muttered unconsciously, It was breathtaking, I’d never seen anything so beautiful, it was like I walked into something so ancient it was inconceivable to my young mind.
On one of the pictograms was two hand prints imbedded into the stone, they were pure amber and encrusted with some kind of beautiful gem, curiously I placed my hands onto the handprints, it was a perfect fit.
As I admired the fit of my hands into the handprints a strange noise echoed throughout the room.
“Zmmmmmmmmm”
It was like a humming, the humming was felt in the depths of my soul, I could hear it, feel it.
As the humming stopped, the ancient writing above the handprints glowed in an ominous amber colour, this started a chain reaction, the ancient writing and pictograms lit up one by one in order, across the walls, floor and ceiling.
As the last part lit up the whole room now looked like it was on fire, everything glowed an amber colour which was the result in a blinding light.
Shocked and startled I tried to run out of the room as fast as I could, I definitely wasn’t sticking around!
I reached the passage and tried to run out of the room, but I couldn’t!
Something stopped my path, an invisible barrier or something, It flinged me across the room and I tried to exit again and again but the barrier wouldn’t budge at all.
Scared and confused I stood as close to the barrier as I could, trying to escape from the glowing, I watched as the pictograms, writing and ancient markings stopped glowing, this left the room eerily quiet and I still couldn’t leave, the barrier continued to block my path.
Out of nowhere a quiet thumping noise vibrated through the room.
“Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp.. Thmp..
Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp..
Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp... Thmp... Thmp.. Thmp...”
It grew louder and louder, the pulsing was like a heart beating, it shook the whole room.
The louder the sound grew the more It could be felt in the depths of my core, it seemed to penetrate my very soul.
The sound was powerful and ancient, I lay on the floor clutching my head, waiting for it to stop, it didn’t stop, it went on and on, louder and louder…

As it went on the noise felt like it was beating directly into my brain, the beating seemed to sync with my own heartbeat and they thumped together, THUMP...! THUMP…!
After what felt like an eternity the sound grew quieter until it couldn’t be heard anymore, I knew the sound had gone but I felt like I could still hear it in my head, like a small heartbeat pulsing constantly inside my head.
Suddenly the room went pitch black, Void of any light whatsoever, even with eyes trained to see in the darkness I couldn’t see my own hand in front of me, It was like I was locked in the void of night itself.
The room was dark for a couple minutes until the walls, ceiling and floor started to glow again, it glowed a ominous black and yellow this time, but the strange thing was that the markings, writing and pictograms flew out of where they were and condensed into one mass ball of black matter which glowed yellow, the glowing black ball floated in the middle of the room and glowed a brighter yellow as time went on.
The black matter seemed to squirm and twist as the yellow glow condensed itself inside the black matter, it was squirming into different shapes and spinning in every direction, by watching I forgot about the potential danger I was faced with, I was mesmerised, the matter continued to squirm and then it came to a halt.
It floated ominously in the middle of the room, the glowing now gone it looked like dark matter condensed into one lump, the matter was darker than the void of night, darker than the deepest of voids and darker than space itself, it was forebodingly dark!
The room was now bare of any writing, markings and pictograms, this ball seemed to suck everything into it.
Then the ball squirmed and twisted again, after squirming and twisting for a while it formed into something, the room once again grew incredibly dark and then it stopped, the black ball of matter was gone but in it’s place, on the floor was a little figure, I walked up to the little figure and scooped it up into my hands, looking at it closer it was a small wolf pup, the wolf’s coat was the same black as the ball of matter, why had it turned into this?
The little pup was unconscious in my arms, it was incredibly beautiful, it was pure black and void of any imperfections.
All of a sudden I was startled out of my stupor, the room shook violently, bits of rock crumbled down the sides of the walls, it was collapsing!
With the pup wrapped up in my top I ran for the exit to escape, luckily the barrier had gone, I ran as fast as I could down the passages and eventually I reached the end, the illusion wall was still there but this time I knew what it was so I ran straight through it and out of the small rift in the mountain, looking back at the small rift, I was surprised because the exit I had just come from was no longer there, it was just the mountain, it had no entrances at all, the mountain was perfectly whole and the rift that I had entered through didn’t exist anymore!

With no time to think I ran through the forest and all the way back to the cave I had named home in this Milan wilderness, what surprised me was that no magical beast attacked us on our way there.
“Exo, you there?” I said outloud, Exo hadn’t spoke since we entered the rift in the mountain.
[I am now Master, when you entered through that rift I was blocked off from you, I couldn’t see or hear anything, it was like you were unreachable!]
The rift blocked me off from Exo? What the hell was that place!
“Heres what happened…” I explained the situation to Exo and he was stumped too, he told me he could feel nothing from that little wolf pup and to be careful of it, it was incredibly suspicious.
“I will, don’t worry, It’s still unconscious at the moment anyway, lets get back to the cave first.”
<><><><><><><><><>
We arrived at the cave where all my loot was and the place i’d been living in the Milan Wilderness, it was a well camouflaged cave so we didn’t have to worry about any magical beasts coming in.
I laid the wolf puppy on a round rock which I had carved into a table and went to rest, everything that had happened took a toll on my mind, I seemed to be unlucky with things so far, I always ended up in the worst of situations.
To rest I took to meditating, it gave more results than sleeping or napping.
I meditated for an hour or so and felt refreshed, I stood up and went to check on the unconscious wolf pup, as the table came into sight I could see that the pup wasn’t where it was supposed to be, shit, I should've kept an eye on it!
I started to panic and got frantic due to the disappearance of the wolf pup, it was still a mystery why the mountain housed something like that.
As I grew more and more annoyed at myself for not being more aware I heard something entering the cave, this put me on edge, I hid behind a rock and waited for the intruder to come further in so I could ambush them.
A big shadow appeared on the wall and from around the corner it appeared, a massive monster was coming in!
I readied myself for a fight to the death when the figure came around the corner.. it turned out to be a small pure black wolf pup with glowing golden yellow eyes, it was wagging it’s tail whilst it dragged in the carcass of a massive magical beast at least a couple hundred times the size of it, the little pup actually went out to hunt! the magical beast it killed was a giant fire bear, they were magical beasts of the A rank!
Stunned and almost falling over from sheer shock I came out from behind the rock, seeing me the pup shaked it’s tail even more and dragged the dead giant fire bear towards me, when the wolf got to my feet it looked up at me and sat down, still wagging it’s tail, it started making whining noises…. was it asking for praise…?
I bent down and stroked the majestic pup with my hand, it started licking my hand and nuzzled it’s head against me like a cat would, maybe it thought of me as it’s Master?
I continued to stroke the pup and it playfully rolled around,
“wooof woooof!” it cried happily and then it looked over and at the carcass and then back at me and whimpered slightly, it must of been asking if it could feast, I nodded and instantly the wolf bit into the carcass of the dead giant fire bear, it’s teeth sunk into the bear like it was eating melted butter!
The surprising thing was, was that this bear was an A rank magical beast! I probably couldn’t even kill one of these and the skin of the giant fire bear was three times harder than steel, it had incredible defence and yet this little wolf pup barely up to the height of my shins killed it and was eating this beast like it didn’t have any defence at all!
It didn’t take even a couple minutes before the little pup had devoured every single bit of this magical beast, even the bones! it’s appetite was astounding, this magical beast could of lasted me at least a month for food yet it was devoured by a tiny pup!
As it finished it’s meal it stretched and came back over to where I was standing, it looked up at me with it’s majestic, divine eyes and jumped into my arms, I caught it and then it curled up in my arms and fell asleep straight away.
I went to sit down on a rock so the wolf pup could sleep on my lap and I stroked it whilst it slept, it obviously thought of me as it’s family or it’s master, ah! It needs a name…
“I’ll name you Fen, okay?” I said to the sleeping pup, as in reply to my question it whimpered slightly in it’s sleep, it must like the name!

The Reborn Runesmith
We have all read stories about the reincarnated or portaled earthling going to the fantasy world and gaining a cheat and super abilities. This isn't one of those. The hero or villian here is just a smart guy who only gets to choose a few things like what he is and then given the ability to have mana. He doesn't even get to choose what kind of mana he gets it could be fire, water, air, etc. This world is different than ours. Gunpowder, medicines, and other things will probably not work or be availible. Who is to say that the beings of this new world will even have the same internal anatomy. These are all things our MC will have to discover. Just like our world you can be born with great genetics but if you are a lazy and undriven person nothing will come of it. This is my first attempt to write. There WILL be mistakes. I am a mathmatician not an english major so be prepared for questionable grammer and spellings. One of these days if I enjoy doing this I will get me an editor who did english instead of math and science.
