Book 2 C 12 Scouting

After our embarrassing breakfast was done, Julie retreated to the Council Room to work on the new schedule. With all the new Super Soldier and Elites it had to be revamped and with the new people she needs to find out who has and what profession they had or who did not have one. She would be busy for the next few days.

Cindy went to train her Fire magic and had 11 apprentices to work with so she decided to head out and train with them.

I decided I need to train my sword, so I ask, ”Ki'Diera would you teach me the sword?”

She looks surprised at me “My Warrior it would be my greatest pleasure to work with you” she says, pride swelling in her. This was my way of making things up to her for leaving her behind so many times now.

We head to the Ny'Har'en camp and a small training ground had already been made and some were sparring already. She walks to a rack of wooden swords, grabs two and throw one to me.

I catch it nimbly and swing it a couple of time.”Not bad your grip is right and the swing looks good, lets see where you are, defend yourself!” she cries and jumps at me.

I move to block her swing only to see it was a feint and in two moves my sword goes flying into the air while hers is at my neck. “Well I guess we will start at the beginning then” she says with a smile. She then shows me proper stances and moves of the sword, very basic stuff. Things I had been shown before but forgot. I was more than rusty, everything I had learned of the sword was lost in my deepest memories, but as we went along I was remembering them and picking up her instructions fast.

We sparred again after an hour and this time it took her four moves to disarm me. “You are improving” she says smiling.

We spend another hour training before calling it quit, and begin tomorrow again, her mood is happy at this. I also gained two skill ups in the sword.

I head for the showers and wash up as does she. It is getting close to 11:30 when I see Montgomery. Ki'Diera and I approach him as he is talking to a few of the Supers.

“Ahh Chief, we were about to head out on a scouting mission to the edge of the 5 km zone and see if anything new is out there.” He says to me.

“Then I and Ki'Diera shall join you.” I say to him.

We will be back soon, Ki'Diera and I are going scouting with the Supers

Montgomery, Stinson, Foster James and Raymond all get in the Hum-Vee, Ki'Diera and I jump in the back. They offered me front seat, but I declined. Stinson takes Gunner spot, James drives. We head to the south side to see if any new spawns were in the area where the farm were. Stinson was looking abut but spotted nothing, he had his auto targeting active.

As we hit the 5 Km boundary, we spotted two large looking scorpion types. At least 10 meter long and 3 meters high on their legs. The tail curved onto it's back typical of a scorpion with a viscous looking stinger. It had two mean looking pincers that could probably cut a man in half. They were about 200 m away. They were dark red in color.

“Alright lets focus fire the left one then the other.” Says Montgomery

All take aim at the left one, I use my mana blaster. “Fire!” says Montgomery after we are all ready. I told him I was just tag along to observe.

5 Beams reach out and my mana blaster joins in, as we hit the Scorpion dead center of it's torso. The Torso begins to glow slightly due to the heat. Then it charges at us. The other Scorpion, after a hesitation sees what is going on and charges as well. They are fast, covering the ground quickly. It seems we did little to no damage to it, but simply pissed it off.

I quickly pull out Big Daddy and begin charging up, once ready for a single shot, I fire. I hit but the shot is deflected off of it's armor, it simply bounces off. At 100 m I switch to cold and fire , no effect, the ice gathers all around it, but it seems immune to cold. At 70 meters I switch to corrosive and fire.

It screams in agony. And a hole opens up on it's armor as the corrosive begins to eat into it. “Acid!!” I yell, the first is now 50 m away while the other is 75 m away. I fire another corrosive at it and it scream again in agony the others switch to corrosive as well and begin to dissect the first creature. Legs begin to fall off and it falls to it's side.

The other passes the first creature and is now at 30 m and we all focus fire on it. “LEGS!” Montgomery yells. And we concentrate on it's legs. At 10 m it too falls to the ground, both are still alive and moving.

At this time, I hear a loud noise and look slightly to my right and see them. “GET IN THE HUM-VEE NOW!” I yell at everyone and they see it too. At least 30 of the Scorpions are now flocking towards us.

They are just at 200 meters out and closing fast. We all hop into the Hum-Vee' and Private James takes the wheel and drives us out of there at a break neck speed. “Do not go directly to the Keep, lets see how far they follow, head for the burn zone, head North by North East, skirt the zone!” I yell. The burn zone is where the Dragon laid waste to everything, nothing was left standing, not even concrete or steel, all was ash there. The land was barren. It was also outside of the 5 km zone to the North.

James drove all along the outer 5 Km zone and I looked to see if any other creatures would be attracted, the scorpions suddenly broke off their pursuit and stopped, then turned back as one. And I see why, as a large Stone looking creature 10 m tall, is standing in our path. James turns the wheel to avoid it and does so, but now the creature is moving to follow, several more seem to appear out of the ground around it.

They look like several boulders just thrown together and move slowly. “STOP.” I call out when we hit about 250 meters from them, as they keep coming, lumbering, it had two arms and two legs, but all made of rocks or boulders.

They are six of them now coming at us, but are very slow. I take Big Daddy and set it to explosive and fire. The shot is true and fire engulfs the creature blocking it from sight temporarily. Then it emerges from the fire it's chest has a scorch mark on it, and a few chunks seem to be missing. “Go go go!” I yell.

Two different creatures so far, and both strong as hell. “Foster mark the map as we go, put down each creature type we see on it.” I yell.

We continue driving and spot yet another creature. It is dog like, except for the horns.and most definitely pack oriented. They see us and 11 of them come running at as howling and growling. Saliva dripping from their huge fangs. Dobermans on steroids I think as they stand one and half meter tall.

I see they are gaining on us as we drive and switch to cold, and fire, they slow down quite a bit, even as slow as half movement. “They can track us we need to deal with them” I yell and we stop the vehicle.

I fire another shot of cold at them slowing them down further. They are at a walk now but still coming.

Montgomery and the rest fire their Mana Enhanced Rifles, using corrosive still, but it has no effect, sliding off their fur dripping to the ground corroding the ground. Montgomery switches back to Heat and it also has no effect while Stinson switches to electrical. The dog struck begins to twitch and falls to the ground.

“Electrical!” Stinson yells and the other 4 switch. I keep firing cold at them to keep them slowed. One by one the Dogs fall twitching to the ground as electric sparks fly from them into the air. The first one begins to recover getting back to it's feet, it looks pissed. Barring it fangs and then charges again.

It is at 40 m when Ki'Diera rushes at it, her sword and dagger are drawn. She runs head on at the beast, "Ki'Diera no!” I yell, but they meet in the middle and with a quick move the Dogs head goes flying into the air. She then proceeds onto the rest, who are still twitching and kills them as well in quick succession.

Cleaning her sword on one of the dogs she then walks back to us with a smile on her face, gleam of battle is in her eyes.” that is how you deal with an unruly beast” she says.

We then get the notice 11 times

hmm that was with 7 people in the party too. But Ki'Diera what the hell princess?That was reckless.

Not really, you had them moving so slow there were easy targets.

But still

You must trust me more Scott! We are life partners, I will be by your side always and one day you will need me, and I will be there, understand?

Yes princess.......sigh you are right, you are more skilled at the sword than I can ever hope to be, I need to re-adjust my thinking, I am sorry.

“um no”, I say, then look and see 1st kill award package.

tho you can attempt to tame higher level creatures at higher risk.

Know that the chance of failure is high.

Once established a telepathic bond of understanding is formed.

Only one attempt can be made per 24 hours on the same creature.

25% chance to tame creature, +1% per level higher than creature.

Each level below creature level -5% chance.

Once tamed, the creature acts as the owners pet and body guard.

It will listen to all commands, except suicide.

Any command that is deemed suicidal has a 50% chance to break the bond.

The creature will gain levels with their owner.

Up to level 100 1 creature can be tamed

level 101 – 150 two creatures can be tamed

every 50 levels after another creature can be tamed.
