As I got back into my gear, I took a moment to check the forums, it seems most people were around level 6 after the first night, however there was one post that was blowing up, made by some guy calling DaProfessor, what a lame name, is this guy 10 years old.

Basic combat information:

This is a compilation of what many have observed over the course of the night playing, we still don’t understand what role exactly stats have, but it may be due to the novice class, but at the very least we seem to have some idea of what stats do, damage seems to be as it says on your skill list but how armour and combat interferes with it has been noticed, so far in attempts to duel it seems that if your attack is equal or less than your opponent’s defence you will deal half damage, this also stacks with the combat effects of parrying and blocking, if you dodge obviously you will take no damage, but we can talk about this later.

If you perfectly parry or block an attack you will block all the damage, as long as the damage of the attack doesn’t exceed the attack of your weapon when parrying or the defence of your shield when blocking, if it does then you will still take 50% of the damage dealt, if the parry or block isn’t perfect you will take 50% of the damage, these effects can happen together so that you take 75% damage even if you parry or block, but then still the bonus damage from counterattacks seems to apply, no one has been able to get a fixed number for this yet.

With dodging it seem to take what we have begun to call an action per round, if we say every 10 seconds or so is a round, only so many actions can be taken, for the benefit of the example let’s say 10 actions per round, so if you attack and dodge 5 times each that’s a round, it seems that having more dexterity improves your actions per round relative to your opponent, so if an enemy has 20 Dex while you only have 10, you might only get 5 actions per round while they will still get the full 10, though this is a gross simplification, in 10 second you could make over 100 actions, but it seems to be tied to Dex value from what we can see, we don’t know how this works for mages, but we’re going to be advocating having an even build until more about stats is known.

I logged back in, behind me the doorway to Ellie’s tower was blocked by a floating vertical magic circle of sorts, I poked it to see if anything would happen but it just felt like an invisible wall, so I started walking towards the south when a voice called me out.

“Sir Ezekiel!”

Turning around it seems I had wondered into the marketplace and there was Sid no longer peddling goods, he had his sly smile on...

“Since our last encounter I realized I have a magic tool you might want, it’s a condiment dispenser, it’s limitless, they turn up often enough so they’re not massively valuable, but they are somewhat rare, the shaker you turn the base the seasoning comes out, salt, pepper etc. with the bottle you turn the base and different cooking sauces come out wine, vinegar, soy etc. you can make all sorts of dishes, in total there are over 100 sauces and spices it’s a somewhat rare thing and , the price of it is around 150 gold, so with your discount I’ll make it 105 gold, I’ll let you have it on loan, the interest is charged weekly and will compound at the end of the year, I’m sure after a year of eating plain monster meat you might reconsider not purchasing this fine piece.”

Damn he got me, goblin meat is nice, but eating it plain for a year…

“How long are weeks and years?”

“A year is 336 days, a week is 12 days.”

So that means a year in game is 3 months in real life, more or less what I expected.

“Alright it’s a deal.”

“One other thing, after a year if the loan isn’t paid, you won’t receive your discount until the loan is paid, your ring will turn green, contract magic, oh and I’m also throwing in this other magic cooking tool, it’s a flame that can be lit anywhere for cooking if you supply mana, this one is maybe 10g, I’ll throw it in for free as this is the last day I’m here, let it be a gift for our meeting.”

Shaking hands with him and bidding him goodbye, I got a blue screen about the loan, it could be paid at any merchant’s guild affiliate.

Thus I walked out to the field and whistled for Maximus.

On arrival, my riding skill had maxed out for the minute, the dizziness that was there the last few rides wasn’t even apparent, I think I saw some of the scenery this time, but Maximus was really too fast, on my way towards the castle in the center I decided to take it slow and level steal by attempting it on every goblin in my path.

Eventually I ran into something different, for the first time so far I believe I found another player, she was wearing thong sandals, the bottom seemed to be wood and the heel was a couple of inches, the top was a white cloth that exposed her toes, nails a golden colour, and the back heel, the skirt was also white, it was one of those double slit maxi skirts, mmm both of her legs could be seen clearly as she moved about and they were lovely and shapely, her skin was fair and bright I could say it almost glowed but just to level of naturally good skin, her top was a bit weird, it was a tabard of sorts but the sides were open, baring skin and the piece got smaller as it went closer to the her knees, sadly I could see either a tube top or a cloth bra but her breasts were a good size and perky, her shoulders and a bit of back could be seen, her hair ran halfway down her back, blonde, it was very voluminous and slightly wavy, the clothing was that typical man’s fantasy not practical type, if I had to guess clothing had an extra option for women’s styling and this girl ticked all the boxes, well she was ticking all my boxes, her fingernails were also gold and she was holding a mace in her hands, it was a good deal lighter than the steel and iron I had seen first so I’ll assume it’s silver, oh and this whole time while I have been admiring and critiquing her figure in stealth she had been fighting a goblin.

It was actually a pretty even match which was good considering she was likely still a novice and it was level 20, both kept on missing and dodging with the occasional hit by the goblin and the even rarer hit by her, she clearly wasn’t a melee fighter but her reflexes were good enough to keep up with the goblins, while they were trash they were pretty fast, still at this rate eventually she would lose, but somehow she managed to get a good knock on the goblin’s noggin, managing to get a bit of distance she started casting something and a golden light surrounded her body, most of the wounds on her started disappearing, a healer.

While I could watch her all day for sure, it was time to make my move.

Leaving stealth and stepping out from behind a tree, so to not surprise her, I walked up to the fight from the side.

“Hey, you look like you could use some help.”

She glanced in my direction, still 90% invested in the fight, it was intense, for her at least.

“I would love some help,” She said a little out of breath

“But these goblins are level 20, so I don’t think…”

In one swift move I unsheathed my sword, sliced at the goblins neck cutting its head off, then sheathed my sword back at my right hip, it did a lot more damage than it should have without backstab, it seems sword drawing does extra damage, it’s a shame I’ve been running around with my sword in my hand so far, oh well it’s good to have learnt something, no use putting it back in the sheathe all the time while fighting though, since if in a second I could draw, attack and sheathe, I could instead just do 3 strikes, and I won’t be able to take my stances, but for the first hit of the fight it’s definitely worth doing almost all the time.

“Thanks, I’m very not good at fighting.”

She turned to face me, damn those puppies were dynamite, double Ds perhaps, a snow white baby bird, still covered in it's blood quills with blue eyes was perched on her shoulder, brushing the hair out of her eyes, she gave me a beaming smile that could stun the average man, her eyes were a pure orange-gold colour and her lips were the same gold as her nails, definitely another unique player race like myself and a healer, the perfect complement to a myself, I definitely have to have her.

“So I guess you’ve already managed to get your class right, a hunter?”
