《Beast God》Chapter 3

Ben and Duke circled the house looking for anymore goblins or other monsters. When they found none, they went further away from the house and near the trees surrounding his house.
Ben lived on an acreage in Saskatchewan, Canada. His closet neighbor was over 4kms away while the closet town was 25kms. Ben loved the space and peace he had without anybody bothering him. His father worked on the oil patch while his mother at the bank. His younger brother, Grayson, was 17 years old while Bennett was 18. They were close and did most things with each other.
Ben looked towards the trees and felt a little fear. He knew they were going to meet something in there. Something dangerous. Steeling his nerves, he pushed forward into the thick of trees.
What met him was silence. An eerie silence that gave him goose bumps.
*Grrrrrrrr*
Duke's growl broke the silence and Ben quickly drew his sword. Eye's darting around, Ben tried to find whatever it was that was there.
"Where is it Duke?" whispered Ben.
Duke let out a loud bark before darting farther in the trees.
"Duke!" yelled Ben before chasing after him. Duke's agility was higher than Ben's so he was unable to catch him.
*Mooooooo!*
A loud moo was heard followed by Duke's bark.
A cow? We were scared by a damn cow?
Shaking his head Ben followed the sound and soon found Duke and the cow.
Except calling it a cow was wildly inaccurate.
This 'cow' was over 3 meters tall and 7 meters long. It's fur was a dull yellow with a pair of sharp horns on it's head. What shocked Ben the most, besides the size, was the fact that flames were coming out from it's mouth!
What the hell is this! A freaking dragon cow!?

Duke jumped out of the way of the flames, leaving a scorch mark on the grass. Ben quickly ran towards the fire breathing cow and slashed down on the cows side. The attack worked leaving deep cut along the cows ribs.
Ben smiled, looks like this wont be to har-
*Booom*
Smacking his head to Ben's chest, he flew back 2 meters before landing on his back. With the breath knocked out of him, Ben curled like a shrimp. His chest was burning, he was sure something was broken. His vision flickered, about to pass out.
No! I'm not dying!
Slowly getting to his knees, Ben saw his chest was covered in blood,
Yep, something is definitely broken.
Looking at he damn cow he saw that Duke had a hold of it's throat, the cow was trying desperately to shake the wolf off. Slamming Duke into the ground, letting out a yelp, he finally released the cows throat. Blood dripping from it's throat, the cow let out a loud bellow before shooting flames at Duke.
Duke tried to jump out of the way but was unable to avoid it all. The back half of Duke's body was missing it's fur and the skin was burnt and starting to blister.
Seeing this infuriated Ben, ignoring the pain and grabbing his sword and charged the cow.
"Fuck you!!!" screamed Ben.
The cow was startled by the scream and turned towards him, exposing the wound on it's throat left by Duke. Stabbing the sword with all his strength into the cows throat.
*Splurt*
Fresh blood washed over his hands and arms, Ben continued pushing the sword into its throat while looking into the cows eyes. Letting out a gurgled cry the cow slumped down to the ground before the light finally left it's eyes.

Ben pulled out the sword before collapsing next to the cow, passing out.
Waking up from being unconscious, the first thing Ben felt was pain. Excruciating pain throughout his entire body. Opening his eyes, Ben saw that the sun was almost set and night was approaching fast. He needed to get home, home was safe. Outside? Not so much.
Letting out a painful grunt as he sat up, propping himself against the corpse of the cow. Duke walked up to him gently nudging his good hand. The burns Duke acquired looked better than before. There was still no fur but less blisters and patches of new pink skin could be seen.
Petting Duke's head, Ben softly said, "We need to get back to the house, I don't want to be out here when it gets dark."
Duke seemed to understand as he prodded Ben with his head to get up. Standing up, Ben sharply inhaled, he had some ribs defiantly broke and moving at all was extremely painful. Clenching his jaw Ben started walking home, using Duke as a crutch the entire way.
Finally making it back to the house, Ben locked all the doors before collapsing on the couch. Laying there he decided to check his stats before sleeping.

He gained 5 levels? That cow was strong, fire breathing is cheating.
"Add 2 points to vitality and give strength, agility and dexterity each one point." that familiar warm feeling came over his body as his exhaustion slightly faded. Ben closed the panel and fell asleep.

In 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest is a giant narwhal. The US government assembles an expedition to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist (and narrator within the story) receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition. As the expedition travels south around Cape Horn into the Pacific Ocean, the crew finds the monster after a long search and then attack it, but the ship is damaged with the three main protagonists thrown into the water. They are quickly captured and then meet the enigmatic Captain Nemo. ~ Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne and was originally published in 1870.
