This is my first FF and English was not my native language. So please bear with me and enjoy the story.

Prologue

"Lieutenant, what is the status of this year's fresh recruits?" asked an old bald guy wearing a military uniform.

"We have interesting recruits for this year Colonel Asano. Take for example this kid, 15 year old Rizzo, Exceptional Abilities in Computer programming, networks and communications, average physical abilities and average instantaneous reflex, I think he'll fit well in Battle Planning division or Intelligence division." said lieutenant Kino.

"hmmm okay, next" Colonel Asano said.

"15 year old, Jazmae. Top of her class in their province. Ranked second in the recruitment exam, Multiple knowledge in martial arts, above average physical abilities and above average instantaneous reflex. Perfect candidate for leadership position. She's exceptional." remarked by lt. Kino.

"Yeah, groom her for leadership position" demanded Col. Asano.

"15 year old, Ari..."

"is he the one garnered the highest score in the recruitment exam? " asked Col. Asano

"No, Colonel. I'll get to that later."

"Ok, Proceed."

"Ari, Exceptional Battle Sense, Exceptional Physical Abilities, Exceptional instantaneous Reflex and Genius Martial artist, this boy is the perfect soldier, Col."

"Hmmm, promising kid. he'll do well in Battle Division"

"Yeah, next is the one who had gotten the perfect score in the recruitment exam, the best score ever recorded in the history of this Academy. 14 year old, Kira."

"Are you sure he didn't cheat?"

"Oh no, Col, that's impossible, this kid is legit, but...."

"But? Continue what you’re saying Lt."

"He is a cripple. He cannot walk and can only move his arms and head, aside from that every part of his body is useless."

"What!? Who allowed him to take the exam in the first place? If he is that smart he should have applied for a government position where he can use his intelligence to help our country.”

"I was hoping to put him in the Strategic Planning Division, Col."

"I too believe he would be very valuable in the academy, if only he could at least walk. Though you may argue that he doesn't need the faculty of his legs to be useful in virtual reality, but still I want my cadets to be on perfect shape not only in the mind but also in the body. And besides who would take care of him inside the Academy? He will be a burden to his fellow cadets. If he is that smart the government and the University will gladly accept him."

"Yes, Colonel, I understand."

At the age of 15 every individual in United Asian Nation were mandated to participate in virtual reality world called "Lost Earth". Virtual Reality had been part of the lives of every people in the New Earth. One cannot buy goods and stuff, cannot go to school and cannot buy a house without virtual currency. Barter trading is strictly prohibited by the government to ensure that every citizen will participate in the virtual reality, if one wants to survive.

20 years ago, the greed and lust for violence of mankind leads in too many wars resulting in the partial destruction of the world. The remaining factions realized their foolishness and stupidity and created the Council of Elders with a sole purpose of protecting and preserving the new Earth. Peace treaty had been signed by the different factions and vowed to never enter into another war.

The council of elders knew that this treaty will not last and knew that mankind potential for violence is inherent in their very nature. Tasked by protecting and preserving the new earth the elders sought for a way to prevent another war. They had reached a conclusion that war is inevitable and that to prevent another devastating war they will need another war.

Virtual reality had been popularized in the last two decades. Everyone knew the epic fantasy VRMMORPG "Royal Road" created by Unicorn Corporation. The remaining members of the Unicorn Corporation were also members of the Council of Elders and proposed the viability of Royal Road as a means to end future wars.

The Council of Elders all agreed that this was a good idea and for it to work successfully, they needed the remaining factions to participate. They bankrupted banks, crashed the stock market and renounced the real monetary systems of the new earth for the purpose of reducing the value of paper money to zero. Thus, the new world were forced to convert their paper money to virtual currency (i.e. copper, silver, gold). They had restarted the program Royal Road and changed the name to "Lost Earth" to remind everybody what they had lost.

Lost Earth:Derohne City - Located north of UAN territory

Outside the city walls, A Russian army of fifty thousand strong was conducting a relentless assault into the city, flaming flying rocks from catapults, arrows and long range spells were constantly dwindling the City's defense while being defended by twenty thousand users and NPC's.

Derohne City, being close to the border between the Russian territory and UAN was redesigned as a fort and a garrison. It has higher and thicker walls compared to any other city and has a strategic importance to UAN . 500 users could easily defend the city against ten thousands. Though, for some reason, the soldiers of UAN was having a hard time of repelling them back.

"HQ, This is Col. Roldan A. Santino, Derohne City is under attack. We require immediate assistance, over." Col. Roldan A. Santino whispered to one of the personnel in UAN HQ.

"We copy you, sir. We have dispatched the 31st and 32nd Battalion to your position. ETA 12 Hrs."

"I would have to hold that long then"

"Yes, sorry about that, Colonel. They were the ones closest to your position. Also Colonel, orders from the top. You must not lose the city, defend it all costs."

"I understand, over and out."
