As soon as Grandad and Tsuru left the room became silent. As the man I had to speak up first she looked very nervous and I was as well.
Me: I’m sorry my Grandad got you caught up in this. I won’t have you tie your life to mine without anyone ever asking you.
Julia: Jax, ever since I was young I knew that one day we’d be married. If you were to ask me back then I would agree but over the years your Grandfather would tell my Grandmother about you and she would tell me at first I was too young to understand but as I grew up I realised how incredible you are. As a child you were incredibly intelligent, you were raised by your mother for the first four years. After that you had to leave her but you still smiled not to worry her. Your Grandfather tried to give you light training but you exceeded all expectations growing at a demonic rate. You then lived with three brothers one of whom died. At that time I was told you were the one who was strongest the others tried to put on brave faces but you were the one who dragged them from sadness. As each left for their journey you remained, and this brings us to this meeting. You are always strong for those around you. The burden of being strong is a heavy one, to be married to someone like you would be a dream. I hope to share some of your burden and possibly you can share some of mine.
At this I was rather dumbfounded. She was so kind and caring, I couldn’t help wanting to protect her. After that we talked, she told me that she was raised by her Grandmother as her parents died, she would be looked after by marines and sometimes accompany her grandmother. I was surprised to find she had even eaten a devil fruit, at the time she ate it by accident as a snack. She said it tasted horrific but the devil fruit turned out to be the mythical zoan frost tiger. I was surprised when she told me it was a tiger then showed her my abilities. She seemed to think it was a zoan fruit that allowed me to manipulate the elements related to the tiger. I smiled at this and told her I never ate a devil fruit although it may be a good theory. She told me how her Grandmother trained her and she even received instruction from other marines with zoan fruits. She mainly used a hand-to-hand type of combat as her strength was impressive. If we were to fight I’d need to bring out all my tricks to keep up. When dinner approached I made a plethora of dishes some of which from my past life so she had never seen them. We ate dinner while talking of simple things. I would tell her stories I could remember from my past life and she would listen attentively. Every time she laughed the room felt filled with joy, she was surprised at my appetite and giggled as I walked off to find more despite the almost inhuman amount.

We sat on the couch late into the night talking. When we went to bed I gave her the bed and prepared to sleep on a futon in the small sofa room.
Later that night I hear a rustling next to me and felt warm hands on my back. I turned to be greeted by a blushing Julia naked. She bared her body before me and her hands went to my cheeks.
me: Jules we don’t need to rush, this isn’t something that has to happen now.
I felt a hot breath in my ear as she replied
Julia: But I want it to happen.
In my past life I remembered the amount of opportunities such as this that came up in novels that the protagonist would pass up. I was not like them, I flipped myself on top of her pressing down on her body. My hand in the small of her back as I crashed my lips upon hers. Things moved pretty quickly from there and soon the deed was done. I lay back with an arm behind my head as the other caressed her back as she slept on my chest. I couldn’t smile to myself as my mind kept replaying the event over in my mind. I didn’t know how long it lasted but I could tell that it was at least a few hours. I slowly dozed off but it felt like it had only been an hour at most before the sun started pouring through the window into my eyes. I went to check the time and realised we had to wake up. I started making pancakes in the kitchen for breakfast. I’d always loved pancakes they tasted divine. As I was cooking one in the pan I felt arms wrap around my waist and two mounds press against my back. We both looked rather unkempt, I gave her a big smile as I saw her wearing my t-shirt.

Me: morning, I making pancakes. Can you get the plates down.
she gave me a quick peck on the cheek before busying herself with getting the table ready.
After breakfast we took a shower where we had another battle before coming out. Checking the time I couldn’t help cursing.
me: shit we’re gonna be late we need to hurry.
She changed into her marine uniform and I wore my grey shorts and navy shirt. We rushed out of the room after packing what Grandad told me to bring which was just my knives. We then rushed off to the camp I was excited to see what was in store for us.

Letters from Shanti Ashram, India
I lived in India from 1984-2005, and wrote to my parents regularly about my adventures in Indian ashrams. From 1984-1993 and again 2001-2005, I was living in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, and I am adding all of those my "Letters from India" book, which will mainly be of interest to those familiar with Prasanthi Nilayam, the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. However, from 1994-2001 I was staying at a wonderfully spiritual, quiet retreat called Shanti Ashram, and I am putting the letters I wrote to my parents while staying there, on this book. The ashram was a dream come true for sadhana. The people are welcoming, it is usually never crowded, and they offer separate cottages to aspirants. The rates are donation basis only.
