《Path of Damnation》Chapter 32: Humanity

Day 32
I finally reached it.
The Capital of these 'humans'.
They were the ones my god wanted me to talk to and turn towards our cause.
Make them serve him so that he could sacrifice the humans.
Make them kill each other and come in the end and conquer them all.
My god is truly an incredible being.
To think so far without letting anyone know.
Of course my god would be so mighty.
I trembled in delight as I remembered his promise.
Bring these Yulian humans under his command and he would find me an Elf to serve me.
My own elf!
I was ecstatic when he had told me.
I still despise that disgusting champion, abusing his relationship with my god to have me punished.
But jokes on him, instead of being punished, my god blesses me with the appearance of one of his greater forms and then gives me a mission, in which should I complete it successfully, gives me my own elf.
Take that Champion, he didn't punish me at all.
I hugged myself in my happiness at the thought of getting my elf, but I forcefully calmed myself down.
I had a mission to do and I could not threaten its completion with my fantasies.
All I had to do was bring the humans under my gods commands and all would be fine.
An easy task.
I saw the gate of the human capital which stood mightily.
It made me smile as it was contradictory to their current situation as a second class civilisation.
Pathetic, but I must keep these thoughts of mine locked away.
I had to go and meet the human king.
Under normal circumstances, entering the royal palace of the any Human kingdom, would be an arduous task, but my beloved god has granted me power to allow me to fulfil his demands.
At any random moment, I may be blessed with a sudden increase in power, even if I was hundreds of kilometres away from my god.
Smiling to myself in joy, I quickly became one with the shadows and began to make my ways through the capital.

Silently and slowly.
I was in no rush to get there quickly.
The more secretive I was the more it would work in my favour later on.
And like that I quietly crept through the darkness within the capital making my towards the palace that stood in its centre.

[Same Place, Different Person]
I sat on my throne and before me he appeared.
A black fog suddenly descended upon the throne room and out of it he slowly walked out and stood before me.
The High Priest of Damnation.
Ghum'bil was his name.
He introduced himself as he came out of the fog.
His black was cowl covering the top half of his face and his body showed only the grey skin of hands and lower face, his tusks which looked powerful were only overshadowed by his eyes which appeared demonic. Those dark red eyes which looked they saw right through me.
An existence which along with his master, the Dark God and its champion, were feared by all.
They suddenly appeared one day.
Out of nowhere and they were powerful. Very powerful.
And now they had come to negotiate with us.
We, the Yulians would serve the Dark God and abandon the goddess of light who we served in image alone.
The bitch had abandoned us and let the Kalmirans and Lithiums do whatever they wished with us.
We who had once been equal were now a lesser class.
It was humiliating whenever I thought about it.
But maybe this was our chance to break our shackles.
Just maybe it was.
But nonetheless I have much to discuss with the High Priest.
He slowly moved closer to my throne as if my guards were things that couldn't even hurt him.
This unnerved everyone in the throne room.
We all knew he would be coming and had been preparing for it.
But he completely went through all of my security as if it was nothing and nonchalantly appeared with my throne room.

He slowly walked up to me and stood barely a metre away from me.
The grin on his face was chilling as I felt my body shiver under his eyes.
Ghum'bil: “Your highness” he cooed in his voice “I have come on the behest of my god” when he said those words everything went deathly silent “to give you his friendship” and with that he extended a hand towards me “Will you accept the friendship of my god through me?” he asked inquisitively.
I tensed up as I stared at the High Priest, I knew he was planning something but I could not tell what it was.
I silently nodded and extended my hand towards his and shook it.
Surprisingly his hand was soft and spacious, and he didn't exert any strength onto my hand.
I stared at him as I attempted to contemplate what he was trying to say to me.
But he didn't give me enough time to contemplate as he immediately began talking.
Ghum'bil: “You see your highness, my master and I know very well how the Kalmiran and Lithium people treat your own, how you are viewed as second class, a sub species” and with that he struck home. It was no secret that we were treated terribly but to hear an orc say it, it stung my pride badly “But my master cares little for human politics and vendettas for his true goal is the goddess, the one who abandoned your people” as he said that I felt a wave of fear and joy spread through the room.
The thought of two gods clashing made peoples imaginations run wild as they attempted to contemplate what such a battle would be like.
But to broadly declare in public that you aimed for a goddess was not something many people had the gall to do.
Ghum'bil: “My master sees your people as the key that will allow Kalmira and Lithium to fall swiftly and all he needs is for you to join him and flock under his banner and he can guarantee you that within this year, Yulia will be the apex of humanity” and with that he turned towards me and smiled once again “I can promise you that your people will never face oppression again should you serve under my master” and with that he stopped and stared at me for a few moments.
Most likely attempting to see how I reacted to all he had just stated but I kept an passive look as if his speech hadn't affected me in the least.
I was king after all, I couldn't allow negotiations to go one way.
King Jerech Yulia: “Your confidence amazes me High Priest” I stated as I stared at him as my emotions were spiralling out of control “But how can you be so sure of such a thing” I asked “How can you be so sure your master will win against the goddess” I questioned inquisitively and depending on his answer I would reply with mine.
The High Priest simply chuckled in his deep voice as he stared deeply into my eyes with his own.
Ghum'bil: “I can give you no proof of his power for there is no need, but” he paused “You can choose whether you will march your forces into my master to face him in all of his glory with the shackles of the goddess guiding you to your death or you can break the shackles which your goddess has slapped onto you and join under my master to see her die” and with that grinned “So what do you choose 'Your Highness'” he asked me.
I stared deeply into his dark red eyes and simply sighed.
King Jerech Yulia: “You already now my answer” I told him to which he laughed silently.
He walked near me and put my hands within his and simply stated his opinion as if it was fact itself.
Ghum'bil: “Together we shall watch the shackles holding Yulia down break” and with that he laughed out loudly.

To live is to Dream (LitRPG; First Draft)
A new Power has come into the World and seeks to change it. Being on the last dregs of sanity and full of alcohol Daniel West receives an opportunity to seek revenge. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To live is to Dream is the second book of the Just a Dream series. You do not have to read the first to enjoy the second, but there will be recurring characters along the line. The first book features Mir, a man that dislikes how his current world appears and hence wants to change it. The second book will feature other people and how the changes implemented by Mir affect their lives. For those interested in my first book, it's easy to find it. Just beware that with the first book, it was my first time writing and there are a lot of grammar errors despite lots of editing, at least at the beginning of the book. The cover was done by Lmarief. I had requested something bizarre and she delivered. I have even used it as part of the story since her interpretation of my imagination was a bit different. Still, I loved it. As a thank you gift, I posted a link to her profile here for others who want a unique cover. https://www.royalroad.com/profile/220043
