《The Laziest Strength Build》Chapter 2

Game starting.
Oh, here it comes! I'm ready!
A bright light comes to the dark void I've been sitting around in. It expands, it takes me in...
I come to in the grass. Standing, sure, but in the grass. I look around me, a few other people are there, players as well judging by their looks. We're all standing there, in these plains. I was under the impression there was a classic beginner city, but no, nothing like that. There isn't a trace of civilization around.
"Okay. I guess I'll go this way then."
I picked a random direction and took a whole two steps before a fellow muscleman steps in front of me. Above his head, the name Chad. Huh.
"Where's your weapon bro?"
Oh God, he might actually be a Chad. That fucking voice...
"I don't need weapons. I hardly even need clothes, but decency feels good."
"...Yeah. I get that. Fair enough, bro. I didn't know you could choose nothing, though. I'm familiar with baseball so I chose a club, but..."
"Yeah, that looks nothing like a bat."
The club looked like a cartoonish parody of itself. A tiny stick with a fat head.
"That sucks, dude. I'm headed that way, see if I can find people. You can come if you want."
"Oh, no thanks bro. Cool of you though. Hey, did you bring any friends with you?"
"No, I don't have many friends. My job makes me hate people."
"Well, just in case you didn't know, there's a friend menu. Just press 'Add Friend' and type in their in-game name, you coulda started together if you wanted."
Then Chad turned and went over to three people, they looked like they were waiting on him. What a nice lad.

So, having nothing better to do, I decided to venture off into the wide-open plains. This place looks gorgeous, but I need to find something.
After a few minutes of walking, the grass goes from a foot high to I-can-see-my-feet high. I can see a tree in the distance, at least I think it's a tree. I'll head on over, see if anything happens.
On my way there, I hear rustling that isn't from me. I stop. To my left is a weird little black critter, looks like a ball of fur with legs and a huge mouth.
"Oh, hello. What are you?"
I crouch down to look at it. It grins at me, a nearly toothless smile, with only a few molars. Herbivorous. "Pai! Pai!" it says. No clue what that means. I'll humor it.
"Pai? Okay, why not."
It bounced around on its two fuzzy little feet.
Standing up, I decided to keep heading for the tree. It would most likely follow me. Oh well.
Glancing around and behind me every now and then, I saw the black fluff get bored of me very quickly and scamper off. Guess it wasn't meant to be.
"I really should have read up on the game. I've got no idea what I'm doing. I mean, there's an interface, an inventory and all this fancy stuff... but like, what do I do? Where do I go?"
I finally reached the tree. It looked like birch painted brown, and the leaves were rounded. It seemed to fit very well here, though. I haven't seen a single harmful thing in this game yet.
Something fell off the tree. Some sort of bird, though it seemed just fine. Maybe it stopped really fast instead of crashing? It was just hopping around. The grass was a lot sparser around the tree, so I could see it very well. It was a yellow and blue combination, with what seemed like green shades in some places.

"Oh, wow. Is everything cute here?"
A chirp and a tilted head were the only answers I got.
"Yeah, I expected that."
I sat there, my eyes on the bird. It looked back. Seemed like it had no concept of predation, because it hopped right into my hand. Either that or it knew I wouldn't hurt it. I have to actively remind myself that this is a game. This thing has HP, no doubt.
It was soft, though. Cute little thing. I stood and put it on my head to see if it would stay there. Little cheeky thing made itself comfortable.
"Okay then, you asked for it. Let's go on an adventure!" I said, striking a pose.

A Demon's Tail
He was born in a dark place, in a world where souls were traded like coins and a person's life wouldn't amount to much. A world where a single misspoken promise could rip you to shreds. On top of everything, his only soul was acting up and mocking him! It couldn't get much worse in his opinion... ——————————————————————————————— Reading Order of the Multiverse-Books ——————————————————————————————— Author's Comment: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently, I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. (http://armaell-library.net/author/andur)

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
