《Afterlife - Next World's Auction House》Thick skin! Thick skin!

Currently she didn't have the 'hidden' skills (I called them that because you only get them after the attributes reach 100 points), but there were four of them which could unlock something, as soon as some bonus points would be added to them.
"Decarbia, add 10 of the free points in Intelligence, Wisdom and Agility each and another 20 in Magic. Tell me if anything happens."
[By your will!](Decarbia)
Seeing her bow so polite gave me the shivers... I really dislike that exaggerated level of respect, since I am nobody that great, especially since I am just an avatar at the moment. In addition, quite weak when compared with pretty much anyone else on Midgard.
"I need to educate this demonic lass a bit later, regarding common sense..."
[Ooooh! This is impressive...](Decarbia)
"It seems like you managed to receive some skills right?"
[Just one, however its description is amazing. Here master, take a look!](Decarbia)
Arcane Sage(passive) LvL 1
Your mana manipulation reached the pinacle and can only be increased quality wise from this point onward.
Effects: +50% increase in mana pool; +50% damage of all spells used; +50% decrease in mana cost of all spells used; +50% decrease in cast time of any spells; instant cast for any spells that take less than 5 seconds to cast.
"Damn! D can you cast the same fireball from earlier?"
[D?](Decarbia)
"Well fuck... I have done the same thing I did with Eternity back then. Thick skin, thick skin!"
"Does it bother you?"
[Not really. I quite like it!](Decarbia)
Well what do you know? It seems like this beautiful girl has a similarly beautiful smile if she uses it. I doubt that you can fake that, so I’ll assume she truly doesn't mind.
"Hehe! With her joining, I can already see three girls added in my future harem. After all, is there a need for me not to be shameless?"
"Oh wow... it said that there was only a 50% increase in damage? Why does it feel at least 3 times hotter, while its size also increased at least twice?"
[Amazing! Is master well versed in elemental magic as well? You guessed it correctly!](D)
"Really? It was just a feeling actually. I am a newbie when it comes to magic in reality. Hmm... are you confident in fighting some monsters? How's your MP status?"
[63% of its full capacity right now. How many monsters are there?](D)
"Well, do you see the cave entrance over there?"
[Yes. Hmm? There's fluctuations of magic coming for it, but I can't see passed the entrance even if I use magic essence, or rather mana, to enhance my sight. Why is that master?](D)
"You can think of the dungeons being pocket dimensions similar to your skill. In each one of these dungeons there are multiple rooms called floors. Each floor has a specific monster type assigned to it and only after the entire room is wiped clean or if you kill the Boos, can move to the next floor."
[‘Boss’?](D)
"You can think of it as the chief of the monsters present on that floor. It is also at least 3 levels stronger than other monsters."
[I see...](D)
It was quite cute how well behaved this girl was and how much attention she was paying to my every word. Plus that her red pupils were very enticing, glowing quietly in the darkness of the night.
"Ahem! Regarding the numbers, there should be a bit over 100 on the first floor and this dungeon has only one floor. Also, one of my friends already cleared it on her own today."
[What!? Sh...She managed to kill over 100 monsters on her own?](D)
"You don't need to be surprised. You are actually stronger than her in both levels and magic. Keep in mind that most monsters are level 1 and 2, quite weaker than even myself. Only the boss is stronger."
[Your friend can use magic? What kind?](D)
Uwaaaaaah! Her eyes are sparkling...
"Wind and water. But she only learned how to use them yesterday..."
[I look forward to meeting such a peerless genius! I have so much to learn from her!](D)
"No, no, no! I'd rather count on you teaching her stuff since in her case, she got that strong only after receiving a divine blessing from a God, therefore forcibly increasing the Tier of her soul."
[Blessing of a God?](D)
"Yes... Midgard's only God is called... ahem... Michael Corbett the God of Chaos."
[Eeeeeeeeeeeeh!? Master, you are a God!? No wonder there was a sense of divinity from you!](D)
Oh shit! I forgot that I showed her my status previously… And just look at her face! If she would have a tail, it would wave 100%...
"Is just a coincidence..."
[Don't worry master! If you want to keep it hidden, I won't tell a soul about it. However, I can see it clearly when I imbue my eyesight with mana, that unlike the air, plants or even the small animals on the ground which are made out of mana, master's body is constructed from a different type of energy. It is much purer and much stronger as well.](D)
"Eh!? There is such a thing?"
[Indeed.](D) - she nodded
"Haaah! Alright, you are right indeed and I am expecting you to keep it a secret. So far, there are only two people who know about this and you are one of them. After I created this world I was forced to take this shape and help my people evolve their civilization in time."
[That sounds amazing master! How many humans are currently in the civilization?](D)
"Zero."
[Eh?](D)
"On this world the inhabitants are called elves. They are a race that is more loved by the nature and much smarter than humans. Not only that but they also hold immense potential. However, there are currently only 200 of them and my helper Mia."

[I never expected when master contracted me to come to this world, that it would be this interesting. I want to take a look at the monsters you talked about previously then. If what master said was correct, then I should be able to easily clean the first 'floor' as well.](D)
Laughing at the strangely hyped demoness, we walked towards the entry and touched the film covering the entrance.
Alert!
Impossible to enter the dungeon for the next 14 hours due to the clearance of the entire dungeon.
During the following 14 hours the dungeon will regenerate the monsters as well as the rewards, as well as create the second floor!
"Second floor!? And there's a cool-down once the entire dungeon is cleared?"
Decarbia was looking strangely at my pale countenance and mutterings, however I couldn't afford to pay attention to my image. If after clearing the dungeon the core wasn't destroyed, did it create another floor? As a method of strengthening itself and protect it’s heart?
Wouldn't that mean that that the monsters will also be stronger once the new level appears?
"I truly didn't expect this... It appears that we might require to make a trip to the next dungeon available. D, are you up for some scouting?"
[Yes!](D)
"Hahaha! It's good to be excited, but we don't know what type of monsters will be there, or their levels. Also, if I remember it correctly the dungeon in the South should have a total of 11 floors already, therefore I only want to take a look at what type of monsters we will have to deal with."
[Yes! Let's go!](D)
Remembering once more how she easily killed someone earlier, I wondered if this girl wants to let loose and vent some frustrations. Based on what the Moronic One - Izual said, Decarbia was chased in the demon world at the request of someone else, probably someone with a high status. Not only that, but the girl herself said that she didn't hold a proper conversation with someone else in a while and her family is no longer...
"One can only imagine the kind of shit-storm she went through. It would be good for her mental health (and my general one) if she can blow off some steam."
In the absence of an illumination source, D used her fire magic to light up the path, as we walked towards the southern part side of the camp. It surprised me to see how curious she was looking at everything on our way there.
"Is there that much of a difference between Midgard and the demon world?"
[Yes... due to continuous fights for power between different factions, the magic concentration in the air spiraled out of control and affected the plant and animal life. As result, you can only find patches of green, plants or trees, only on the estates of the nobles. As for animals go... they were mostly affected and due to the corruption of mana in the air, they meat became hard and unsavory. We demons don't require physical nutriments to sustain life, however food was one of the few things we could indulge in... right now though, few might still remember the taste of proper food...](D)
"I see. In that case, you will be happy to live in our camp. Andrea, our head chef, is an excellent cook! I'm sure you will fall in love with her dishes."
[I truly look forward to it!](D)
Seeing her expectant look made me want to through a feast next morning. After all, this poor girl hasn't had a proper meal with a good taste in a while most likely.
Arriving at the dungeon entrance, the same type of film separated the two different realms, preventing us from seeing anything.
"Well then... shall we?"
[I will take the lead then!](D)
"Nope! I will act as a tanker since surprisingly my HP is higher than yours, while you will attack using spells from behind. Can you sense the presence of the living beings around you using mana?"
[Yes!](D)
"Excellent! Let us take a look then, shall we? Follow me, but wait at least three seconds after I enter. That way I will be able to draw away any monster nearby if there are any."
After passing through the film, a slightly more illuminated room appeared, hinting of signs of moonlight. There wasn't a moon in the ceiling of the dungeon floor, however there were mana crystals which were slightly glowing...
"Right! I almost forgot..."
Two in a row: Continously placing first will always have its perks.
Reward: provides the planet with a natural satelite.
I know right!? Such an useless reward... But, while it's not that impressive, it still helps big time. I would've loved some Soul Points to buy more elves or even Achievement Points instead, given the auction Reaper mentioned. I felt like tears were gathering in the corner of my eyes for some reason...
[Master... are those...?](D)

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
