After being pulled into the hole i kept my eyes closed, but when i heard giggling i opened them. I found myself in an endless space, in front of me stood a beautiful girl, though she looked weird because she had strange ears and claws and a lizard like tail, all of these gave off the image of a dragon girl you see in manga and anime

???: Greetings i am Angela, i am a priestess that worships the Dragon God Kaiser.

Marco: um hi I’m Marco could you tell me where i am.

Angela: you’re in a temple, which is used to house souls like your that are traveling into a new world I’m here to help you choose a new race that you will live as in my world.

As she explained Marco sat down letting it all in

Angela: we should keep you waiting here let’s get to it then, let’s see you came from Gaia ok, first i should say that this world doesn’t have a single god ruling it, it is a planet 20 thousand times larger than Gaia.

Marco: um first who is Gaia and second please skip the history lesson and show me the races

Angela: Gaia is the name of your planet, it houses your god, the planet is a physical body of the god, he has a spiritual body which is more human, ok then here are all one thousand species of creatures you can live as.

Suddenly the place was filled with thousands of people, the closest on were vary human like but with a few things different, as i looked, i saw many were like game races, elves, orcs, beast men, semi-human (semi is human with animal ears and tail, beast are humanoid animals), as i went further from the humans became monsters, first were goblins, gnomes and other small creatures,

then came hobgoblin, ogre, drakes, lizard men, and last came legendary creature like dragons.

Marco: hey Angela are they dragons as well.

Angela: ancient dragons to be more precise, they are the highest form any dragon can achieve short of becoming a god.

Marco: so i can become a dragon as well.

Angela: yes but um follow me.

She walked back to the center and stopped in front of a tiny lizard.

Angela: this is a lizardling, it’s the base form for every lizard and dragon kin creatures, for you to become a dragon you need luck and skill it’s a difficult path.

Marco: i don’t mind, I'd like to start as this but could you make it aquamarine like this place, it’s the color i noticed before coming here so i want to remember it.

She gave me a worried smile.

Marco: don’t worry i can take care of myself.

Angela: if you say so.

After that she nodded, suddenly all the creatures vanished leaving only me, her and the tiny aquamarine lizard.

Angela: good luck, god Kaiser will visit you after some time, you became his hero in this world so he is always watching, also I’m sending you to the academy of dragon rider's in the kingdom of Halen, there is no safer place for you to grow and learn.

After that everything became dark.

After i woke up again i found myself curled up in a very cramped place.

Marco: since I’m a lizard this is an egg, better get out quick don't, want to suffocate.

At that thought i began clawing at the shell as best i could with my limited space. After a few hits i was able to make as small hold which filled me with relief as i was already breathing heavily. After a few more hits i made a large enough hole that i could rest and regain a bit more energy before continuing.

After some minutes i was finally free it was then that i saw it, surrounding me were a few hundred eggs which had small lizards like me crawling out. As i looked up i noticed something else surrounding us, all around humans, elves and semi-humans were around us watching us as we desperately fight to escape the shells.

???: hey check that one out, I’ve never seen a one that color before, Mrs. Mores can i have that one

Mrs. Mores: you kids know very well that is them that makes the link so only one lucky one will get it

Suddenly a girl ran over, she was blonde had very long hair in long curls which gave her a feel of someone from a nobles family

???: no one has more right to get this unique one then me

Before the teacher could do anything she approached me, when she got a few feet away i began to feel faint from the smell coming from her, it was so bad i had to cover my nose because it hurt. Suddenly the whole class laughed

???: guess this is the only thing you can’t choose Alice

???: hey maybe we actually have a chance if it isn’t attracted by the smell of money

Alice: stop laughing' she yelled almost on the verge of tears.

I felt a little sorry for her but not much from the way others were talking she was some brat.

Suddenly the lizard next to me approached her and rubbed its head on her leg. Suddenly a glowing circle appeared over its head and over Alice’s hand, then it vanished. Everyone was quiet and for some reason the smell vanished so i could get up.

Mrs. Mores: congratulations will be your partner now Alice

Alice: ok at least i could get a partner.

She picked up the little lizard then walked back to the crowd

Mr. Mores: ok kids spread out once they realize what to do, they will search for their partners.

After she gave the order the group that was around her circled the nest, there were hundreds of students, much more than the amount of eggs here.

As i looked from one to the next, the scent coming from each was the same as the girl from before until i stopped at a very small plane girl she was near the back crouching on the floor holding her legs while looking over here.

The smell from her vary sweet, it was alluring almost hypnotic, i stumbled a bit until i figured out how to walk then walked closer, the people in front of her got excited thinking it was them but as i passed below them they turned around disappointed.

She didn’t even notice me, her eyes looked empty as if something took her soul away and left an empty husk.

???: your joking is going for Melody, i wonder if it’s ok.

Mr. Mores: no i think its fine, the lizards follow a special scent that comes from there partner, like you saw with Alice, the smell it gets from anyone else almost hurts them.

When i finally got next to her she still didn’t notice, i thought a bit on what to do so i just pushed her on the leg but nothing, then i climbed her leg to be in her face but it felt like she was staring right through me which pissed me off, jumping back down i moved close to her leg then simply bit her leg which did the trick.

Melody: what, what is this why did it bite.

Mrs. Mores: it probably wanted attention I think it wants to be your partner.

Melody: um is it alright for me to be it, isn’t this the unique one everyone was just talking about.

Mrs. Mores: yes it is, and we don’t choose they choose us so you don’t have much of a choice in the matter.

As the teacher said that I started rubbing my head on her hand suddenly a surge of power came from both our bodies, I looked up and saw a circle like the one before over my head and on the hand I touched, I kept getting brighter so I closed my eyes as it was blinding.

After the light died down, I felt myself being picked up then when I opened my eyes I saw that Melody had picked me up.

Melody: thank you for choosing me I wonder what I should call you how’s about Kira

I tilt my head thinking a bit then nod, which makes her smile.

Melody: so Mrs. Mores what do I do now that I am his partner

Mrs. Mores: well for now head over and get something for him to eat he just hatched so he must be starving

At her words my stomach growled, Melody and Mrs. Mores look at me then at each other before laughing

Mr. Mores: go on you know what he wants so get it for him.

At that Melody starts running and leaves the room before we leave I look back and see half a dozen lights shining from the crowd must have been the others, soon after we left half a dozen kids were right behind us.

About 5 minutes after we left the nursery we were in a large cafeteria which had lots of food spread out. Inside I spotted the girl from before sitting in front of her partner as he filled himself.

Melody: hello Alice’ she said shyly, it was very cute though she would be much cuter if she fixed her hair a bit maybe a ponytail would help because she covers her face with her hair too much.

Alice: hello did you get a partn...

When she saw me, she froze up

Melody: yes this is Kira, he spotted me in the back of the nursery and partnered with me, I never thought I would get a partner.

Unexpectedly Alice showed a bright smile even her eyes were smiling

Alice: wow this guy really is unique, the quiet girl with the aquamarine lizard for some reason it fits well, maybe it’s because you’re calm the color suits you well.

‘Seems she doesn’t hold anything against me rejecting her, I think she might have thought I would’

After melody put me down I looked through the food in front of me then began eating some of the meat and some fruits that looked like apples and oranges.

Alice: so what kind of dragon are you going to try to train him to be?

Melody: I think a sea dragon that can survive well on land is good, but I wonder if that what he wants.

As they turned to look at me they saw as I jumped from one table to the other, even the Alice’s partner looked over.

Alice: I don’t think it’s going to work out that way, from the looks of it he would turn into a flying dragon or land runner.

I listen to them talk about me and what I would probably become but didn’t give them much though all I cared about at the moment was filling myself with the food.

Melody: wow he sure eats a lot I feel he already surpassed what your partner ate’ she said as she looked at the many empty plates on the table.

Alice: I think it’s just like this today; they just hatched so they need energy.

Melody: I guess you’re right, well I hope I don’t do anything bad while I train him.

Alice: to me, I think he will be teaching you more then you teaching him.

She said and they both laughed, as I turn around I jump onto Melody’s lap then climb up only her shoulder rapping myself around her neck and fall asleep quickly

Melody: w-w-what, I never heard about this, what I do

Alice: quiet he went to sleep I don’t think he will do this much since he will grow quickly like all these little guys, tomorrow let him play around its how they learn there abilities even little things can influence a lot, anyway I’m heading back to the dorms you should to also don’t forget about classes tomorrow it magic class and those who partnered up will have extra lessons on how to teach your partner control as well.

She quickly picks up the now sleeping lizard and walks out after waving good bye

Melody: guess I should go to’ she said and walked out as others entered.

When I woke up in the morning I was in a simple room, nothing to fancy, besides the fireplace everything looked simple. As I left the bed I felt cold air and looked towards the window and saw some snow there

‘What the, does she like the cold, why is it open when it’s still snowing,’ I though then look at the fireplace, the fire had died some time ago

‘Wonder if I can light that maybe there is something like magic or magic crystals I’ve seen in anime’ I look around the room but don’t find any.

Suddenly I heard a chime out of no were then a voice started speaking

???: hello Marco

Kira: whose there’ I say but only a hiss comes out

???: my name is Kaiser the Dragon God and your sponsor god in this world

Kira: sponsor what’s that supposed to mean.

Kaiser: think of it as a teacher, I will watch over you and teach you about this world a bit, oh and sorry I wasn’t there when you arrived I had something to take care of at the time

Kira: I don’t care for now just tell me how I can light a fire I’m freezing here.

Kaiser: oh sorry well have you looked around there are some fire crystals around there, let’s see I think it’s under the girls pillow, here’s a suggestion eat a few, they will hurt since fire comes out but it will help in the long run.

Kira: what, eat it, why.’ I asked but no reply.

‘Guess I’ll just follow his instructions for now’

As fast as I could I climbed back onto the bed and try as best to stealthily walk on the bed without waking Melody.

As I get to the pillow I stick my head in and find a small pouch and take it still careful not to make noise.

That’s when I heard the chimes again and a voice “you have acquired [stealth] trait”

I look around for the voice but find nothing ‘guess it’s just my imagination’

After I land on the floor I open the bag which holds a few marble sized balls all giving off heat. I pick up two and chow them suddenly my whole body heats up and when I open my mouth small burst of fire come out with lots of smoke, after the flames stop I stare angrily at the marbles when I hear the chime again, “you have acquired [fire resistance] trait, [fire breath]” I look around again but not finding anyone I start thinking

‘If I consider this like a game than those were skills I just got’

I look to the fire place and run to the pile of wood and start rolling and pushing them into place.

After a few minutes I was able to get a few in the fireplace.

Kira: ‘ok now how do I use it’ I though

???: need some help,’ a voice called

Kira: that you Kaiser, you’re a dragon right how do I shoot fire breath I got the skill

Kaiser: oh well for a lizard it’s more of a fire spit or fire ball I guess, if you need call out the name of the ability in your head should help since fire breath and spit is considered magic

I do as he tells me and think “Fire Breath” in my head then suddenly I feel my body get hot again then open my mouth and see a small fireball leave and hit the wood in the fire place setting them on fire.

Kira: I did it thank Kaiser

Melody: Kira what was that, did you just spit fire

I look back to see her staring

Kira: hiss (um I can explain)

She looked at him with sparkling eyes

Melody: how did you learn, what else do you have, oh man I should have listen to the teacher when she was explaining how to look at my own abilities I’m supposed to be able to do that to my partner as well.

‘What I can see my own stats, then I wonder if its voice activated like in VR games’

I stared blankly at the statues window in front of me,

‘Is this for real, I can check how strong I am like a game’

She picked me up and left the room cheerful and I climbed onto her shoulder, ‘I wonder what happen yesterday for her to be like, when I met her, this seems a bit forced’.

I put that out of my mind as we reached the cafeteria, as we enter the loud noise gets a bit quiet as some kids look our way before turning back.

‘What’s up with this girl, did she do something she seems outcast from everyone’

Suddenly something flew over me

???: hiss (hey weirdo get off her shoulder and walk like a man)

I look over and saw Alice and her lizard which now sported wings

Melody: wow Alice how did you get him to grow wings

Alice: it was nothing Relon liked to jump from high places a lot so I think he grew wings so he could glide, yours doesn’t look much different from yesterday.

Melody: well in term of looks that true but I saw Kira spit fire today, he must have discovered a way to learn it.

Alice’s face instantly dropped to a frown but quickly hid it.

Alice: wow that is amazing I guess

Melody: now I don’t need crystals to light stuff up now, speaking of that I couldn’t find any of my crystals today, I was going to light the fire to heat my room but that was when if found Kira shooting fire.

I saw that Alice must have put 2 and 2 together because she smiled.

I quickly jumped down and started jumping from place to place, with each jump I get further

Alice: what’s he doing?

Melody: I think he is jumping; maybe he wants wings like Relon does and is using a confirmed method.

I could see a frown on her face as she looked at me, ‘guess she still hates me for the rejection after all, I need to find more crystals if I eat more I think I might get stronger.

Melody: hey Kira stop playing around lets go eat

She quickly turned and walked away, I jumped after her quickly passing her with the always increasing jumping power in my legs and landed on a table right next to the line

Alice: what just happened’ she yelled running over with her lizard behind her

Melody: I don’t know, he just started to change out of no were

Alice: well that’s obvious he evolved but how, what did he learn to make that happen

Melody: I don’t know, I don’t remember how to check the abilities for my partner

Alice signed and covered her face then explained

Melody does that and it appears for me as well.

At her words Alice lost her temper and pulled out a few fire crystals then held it to her lizard

Alice: here eat it I think he did the same

At her order he picked up two and chowed and like me began to spit fire in pain, everyone watching looked in pity, after a bit he also began glowing and turning into a small dragon hatchling like me.

Alice: I knew it so eating crystals has a chance of giving them abilities, great info and I even got him to evolve, this is going great.

She then looked at me and not Melody.

Alice: I won’t loss especially to you after you rejected me as your owner

At this point I was already annoyed.

Kira: ‘Annoying’ was the word that left my mouth but it was enough to make everyone in the room go completely quiet

Alice: he talked, he spoke human language, that thing is an weird someone get the teachers we need to report this.

Suddenly she ran out but I just jump down and lay down on next to the chair Melody was going to sit in

Melody: since when can you speak?

Kira: Growl (I don’t know)

Melody: guess it was just something of the moment, you’re so smart I wonder if I can teach you properly how to speak it if so it would be amazing, I wonder if you can use magic as well.

After that we ate quickly, I wasn’t as hungry as yesterday so I ate much less, then we headed to Melody’s class.

Inside there were about a hundred seats in a fashion like a university classroom and the whole place it was full of humans, elves, semi-humans and a LOT of lizards running all around, and only about three that had wings and were gliding and landing. I joined then and started exercising my new muscles though I couldn’t stay in the air long, I would just run back to a higher area and jump off, after a while I got used to it and I got a message

“Trait [Gliding] has evolved into [Flying] Trait’

I smiled as flying got very easy after that and others could only watch as I was properly flying while others were stuck gliding. As the teacher entered the students called there partners. I was careful when landing on Melony’s desk so as not to damage anything.

Teacher: from the looks of it some of you have had some luck, three winged minor lizards and two dragon hatchlings quite an impressive number for one day, anyone I am the head dragon training and your teacher, I welcome all of you to the Dragon Guardians Academy let’s get along for the next few years.

Seeing his smile I felt a chill run down my spine, did that priestess really send me to a safe place.
