《Nomad Dungeon》Chapter 23 - The White Demon is out for Vengence
Advertisement
Before long after my Core was destroyed, A giant explosion resounded and the little mountain that was containing my Dungeon is completely destroyed.
Turning into nothing but rubble.
"Miss Alicia, was that the dungeon collapse?" ( Elina )
Its no wonder she is confused, it's most likely Mr.Paladin.
"Of course not, my Dungeon Collapse doesn't use explosions. Most likely whatever that C-rank did is the cause."
Elina looks worried, although I'm to blame for enraging that demon-like paladin.
I never thought he would go as far as to do that.
Ah, I shouldn't reveal too much of the information I hold since I'm not even sure if these artificial dungeon builders are capable of the same connection.
And that paladin might kill me on the spot if he knows and is still there.
I'll play dumb for now, so, please Pride, don't do anything nor reveal anything that might endanger me further.
"I need to head back and check on my friends, can you please come along?, don't worry I won't reveal anything about you." ( Elina )
She says so but why do I need to come as well?
I definitely don't want to see that paladin again.
"Is there a reason I'm needed where you're heading?" ( Alicia )
"Um..." ( Elina )
No reason, ALL THE BETTER!
"Since I want to tag along with you, I'm afraid you'll run off without me." ( Elina )
"As long as we continue our business, for your blood, I shall allow you to follow me in return. I shall wait for you." ( Alicia )
"Then, I will be back in an hour or so." ( Elina )
With that, she has taken off.
What should I do, I'm having serious thoughts of running off without her.

Well, knowing Pride, It would definitely wait.
Never breaking one's words, much.
Well then, I'll just wait here, and study those few moments I caught of the C-ranker.
The moments he unleashed all that power.
What I saw should be Aura right?
----
It looked dark and demonic, giving me a feeling like I was looking at an actual demon from the monsters catalog.
...
Even by studying it from every angle and at every instant, I couldn't understand anything about it.
I do know one thing though, the instant before he disappeared from my omniscience view, It looked like he transformed into something else.
I couldn't make it out because all that dark aura was in the way, obstructing my view.
If he turned into an actual demon then...that would make him out as some kind of Demon Paladin.
Oh, Elina's back.
"Why the long face? did you find some dead riff raffs displease you?" ( Alicia )
Please stop with the insensitive lines, please.
Well, she does look rather troubled currently.
"Thankfully all my friends are alive, but the problem is....." ( Elina )
???, whats with the silence, hey, please say it already.
"Speak, you are starting to test the limits of my patience." ( Alicia )
"...The White Demon is out for your head." ( Elina )
......
...what?
"Explain" ( Alicia )
Now Elina is unsure of what to say, but White Demon?, does she mean that Paladin.
Well, at first all I could see from him was a sort of white aura.
Just that it had to turn dark in the end.
"White Demon is renowned for his capabilities and his title comes from being a berserker, even among the C-ranks he is very powerful and is deadly when he enters his 'berserker state'. Whatever he experienced in the dungeon was enough to keep him in the berserker state for quite a while. Also, he cannot get his armor off nor pull his sword out of its sheath, and he has quite a bit of rubble stuck to him. We can only imagine what sort of horrors lay beyond the riddles." ( Elina )

"..." ( Alicia )
I have no words for this, rather I saw what happened and was responsible for applying that hyper glue to this sword.
So he was a berserker, it does explain that dark aura as some berserkers can be scarier than any demons.
Should I explain? no better to keep quiet.
"It's best if we keep your connection to that dungeon a secret, I don't know what sort of horrors you created to send that peace-loving berserker paladin onto a violent rampage. He also swore that he will find and brutally murder the creator of that artificial dungeon." ( Elina )
Great now I'm on the wanted list of a troublesome dude, Why can't you all just leave me alone? I built that dungeon to specifically to keep people away.
"Just to be clear, I didn't give away your identity to him. I don't like him very much, mainly because he is a womanizer and flirts while making advances to all woman that franking, it's a pain to deal with." ( Elina )
That's a relief.
As long as my identity is safe then I can just forget about this incident, yeah let's do so.
"If you're done then I shall start moving on." ( Alicia )
"Wait, its almost morning, Vampire's are susceptible to sunlight right?" ( Elina )
"You need not concern yourself with me as sunlight cannot affect me." ( Alicia )
Stop being surprised already, I have seen your face full of shock and disbelief more than enough times tonight.
I begin walking forward. I need to find a good place to create a new dungeon.
"Ah wait up" ( Elina )

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

The Human Traitor
Nearly two centuries ago, humanity committed a grievous taboo and liberated itself from the Worldrenders, a race of seemingly immortal creatures that dominates two of the three continents. The humans established the seven Foretoken families, swearing to never live in captivity again. In the present day, there is nothing but peace and poverty in Truweld. A poor young woman makes her money from raiding the Worldrenders' plantations. Meanwhile, a genius inventor, a man born from a Foretoken family, idles his days and his talent away. And from the northern mountains, the home of the Worldrenders, a boy with a troubled past marches to the land of the humans. He calls himself a Worldrender and wields their powers. His objective is simple: he will conquer the humans or exterminate them all. This is an epic fantasy story featuring three protagonists, a slew of high fantasy races, and several mysteries at its core. There is a minimum of one chapter (1000 words or more) each week. This story is also being posted on r/HFY.
