《Reincarnation》Prologue

Prologue.
The world I came from was known as Sericis. The world was divided into 6 main factions.
The humans, demibeast, elves, dwarf, fairies, mermaids/merman.
The world was divided into the territories of these 6 races .
I was from the human faction and was the strongest human and arguably the strongest person from all 6 factions at the time. I have managed to overcome all the challenges that happened in my life. Out of all the challenges I have faced in my life I was now faced with the hardest one of all which would cost me my life.
Standing in front of me was a dragon that was at least 500m tall and 1 kilometre long. Its body was covered in diamond like scales as it stared at me with its golden eyes. The dragon was known as the strongest dragon to have ever existed. It was a walking calamity whose only aim was the destruction of all living things in the world. In the past it took a dozen great heroes who had to sacrifice their life to merely seal the beast. Unfortunately the seal got weak as the years went by and now its free to once again pursue its goal. I was the only one capable of opposing the dragon in the human territory which was its first target. We were in a deadlock and several days has passed since our match begun. The dragon had already revealed its true form with its eyes now a bloody red and scales that retained its diamond like appearance but was now black instead of white. In its true form any element it controlled will somehow get mutated by its dark mana making it a 100 times more deadly.
The battle continued for days and by the climax I was fatally wounded. I knew that the end was near. I still had one last trump card a spell that is know only to me. The spell was extremely powerful but it will kill the user of the spell. I would lose my memory when I reincarnate and I wasn’t even sure when I would reincarnate. I can only hope my next life won’t abuse the dragon's power since my soul will merge with the dragons, its power will also becomes mine. The risk was immense but I had no other option and prolonging this fight would still lead to my death. The spell worked by allowing me to launch my soul out, entering the entity in which my soul hits, forcing its soul to merge with mine. My soul would no longer be considered just my soul since it would be both mine and the dragons, the dragons soul however would no longer have its personality if I succeed. The process is impossible to reverse. The risk doesn’t end there since its possible for it to fail but whether it fails or succeed I would die but my soul will be absorbed by the dragon if I fail. The spell takes up a titanic amount of mana to cast since in my soul form I would need that much mana to maintain conscious and to not get sent to the cycle of reincarnation as soon as I launch my soul out.

I had one chance and I intend to succeed. I casted a wide area spell turning the ground the dragon was stepping on with its front claws into mud.The dragon lost balance for a while, at that moment I launched my soul out and it hit the dragon who couldn’t regain balance in time. The mana I currently have in my soul was being consumed at a terrifying rate and it was also the only thing allowing me to maintain conscious. The dragon roared in pain as I started to forcibly merge our souls. Despite the fact it was nearly impossible to kill due to its scales it soul was a different story since it would be a battle of willpower. After a an intense struggle in his soul I managed to successfully merged both our souls together which in turn meant the dragon has died. I somehow manage to make it in time since I started to lose conscious and my soul now merged with the dragon soul moved on to the cycle of reincarnation. Leaving behind both the dragons corpse and my now dead body

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
