《Reincarnation》Chapter 23

-Ria POV-
The tournament registration wasn’t open until a week from now. Within the week I did simple quest to get enough coin to continue rolling on the soft comfy bed everyday. Simply put I didn’t accomplish anything as I started going out less and less. The week passed in a flash as I wasted all my time relaxing. Rolling around on a bed is addictive. So much softer than when I was a dragon and easier cause of my current shape.
After the week had passed I went to the adventurer guild to register myself for the tournament. The registration took a while due to the sheer number of adventurer who were registering for it. Since I was officially a copper rank adventurer now and also because I’m recognized in the guild as a legit adventurer not just a kid , my registration didn’t cause any problems to arise. With that I was officially part of the tournament.
The tournament itself was to be held at the colosseum structure within the city. It was also apparently the place used by the academy for certain exams. The tournament itself had 3 rounds. The very first was a battle royal to lessen the number of participants. The second round is one on one combat between several groups. The third round was a tournament style match with the participants with the most wins in the second round. There were no special section for certain ranks so its almost assured that the third round will only be filled with gold rank adventurers. The lower rank adventurers participated mainly for experience or for fun. I was participating for both the reasons.
With my registration officially completed I had free time for another two weeks before the tournament officially started. Registration ends three days before the actual tournament started. With that being said time to continue doing nothing for another two weeks. I could come up with an excuse like I didn’t want to get injured before a tournament but truthfully I was just feeling lazy. Ever since I left my cave I had no time to relax at all. Therefore I wanted to be lazy a little. My excitement of being surrounded by humans have died down by now so I could relax without my curiosity getting in the way.

So as my two weeks of laziness came and passed the tournament was about to start. Adventurers who registered were all rushing to the colosseum and people who weren’t part of it were rushing to spectate. I was taking my time walking to the area in which the tournament was to take place. I was now completely refreshed and ready to test my self invented techniques. In the two weeks I did try to think of new ways I could use it. I did invent a few new ones but none of them were tested in actual combat yet. Now is a good a time as any to test them out.
Arriving to the colosseum it seemed much bigger up close than it did from afar. The building was used for special events such as this so I never actually had a chance to visit it. The sheer size of the building was mind blowing. It was that big . I couldn’t put it into words but the best description I could think of was that it could easily accommodate at least several hundred thousands of people.
I stopped for a while to admire the sight of the building before I continued through the entrance for participants. The visitors or guest entrance I would assume leads them to the seats. The entrance I went through lead underground into a huge space. The size of the space could accommodate every single one of the participants. The tournament wasn’t set to start until about another 2 hours from now so I went to find a corner and sat down. I wore my cloak to hide my appearance as a precaution if mjolnir happen to be here. Well even if he recognized me he has no proof I stalked them. Its not as if the entire military wanted to arrest me it was probably only mjolnir.
Since I had free time I indulged in my usual habit of staring at the people within the room. Some were thin and tall, some big and there were plenty people of different shape and sizes. Despite that it appears I’m the only one who looks like a kid participating. Well it shouldn’t be a problem since my goal was to hide my appearance for the rest of tournament. With my hobby I was able to pass the time quickly until the tournament was about to begin.

“The first round of this tournament is a all out battle royal. We will sent everyone onto the stage at one go. The battle royal will stop when there are a 160 participants left. There are possibility of injuries. You aren’t allowed to kill. You are considered to have lost if you have fainted. The bracelet we handed to everyone of you will be used for us to detect whether you are still conscious so please have it on at all times. If you remove it you are considered out as well.”
As soon as the tournament official finished stating the rules and all the participants had put their bracelet on, the ground shook the ceiling above us slowly opened as the floor beneath our feet got lifted upwards. I assume it was done by earth magic since I could feel the mana under our feet. The bracelet I was wearing around my wrist suddenly started to glow. The floor eventually stopped as we reached onto the higher level. There were about a thousand people who were lifted up. The surroundings wasn’t anything special just a huge open space. There was a kind of barrier separating us from the audience sitting on a elevated area. A voice rang through the colosseum.
“Start.”
A number 1243 was displayed on the air as I realized that there were various other platforms which also rised up into the area. The entire place was filled to the brim participants. This initial round was meant to take out people who definitely stood no chance in the one on one round. With that in mind I decided the best course of action was to avoid standing out too much. If someone stood out some of the participants might team up against them since there was no rule stating it wasn’t allowed. Without hesitating I ran out of the crowd as people started mindlessly fighting against each other. It was pointless chaos which I assume was considered entertaining since there was countless cheers from the audiences.
The number slowly went down not at a constant rate, rather it went down randomly. I assume it was to measure the remaining number of contestants. Sometimes I get targeted as people charge towards me which I dodged easily. Compared to mjolnir their speed could be considered child play. I punched a few of the iron ranks who came after me , making them faint. The round wasn’t that hard as I just continued to nimbly dodge all the attacks aimed towards me. There weren’t that many aiming for me since I was obviously not seen as a threat.
After several hours of continuous dodging the match eventually ended when the number on display finally hit a 160. Bodies were littered around the floor as the audience cheers continued to get louder. Well this first round was pointless for me. I joined for the one versus one which was the next and third round. I didn’t feel like I achieved much just dodging around the area.
After the round ended we were allowed to exit the stage from the entrances at the side. What I assume to be medics started to flood out of the various doors to tend to the unconscious people. The hundred who made it past the first round including me were given new bracelets for the next round which was to be held the next day. We were instructed to rest as much as possible before tomorrow round before we were allowed to leave. I wasn’t sure what they were going to do but I already knew what I wanted to do, go back to the inn for a undeserved rest.
(Author Note) : Back to normal daily release double release is too tiring. The tournament i never completed in previous version is back XD. well last time it was a test....
