《Rain Revert》Chapter 32: [ A Gambler of Life ]

However, Zarda and the others didn’t know about this but Rain actually knows the real identity of his magic and it’s not just Lightning or Electricity –
It’s Molecular Manipulation!
Rain possesses the ability to generate and discharge electricity, however, this power is more than simple electric shocks, as he can alter matter on the quantum level.
According to Sylphy, he can manipulate and control molecules and atoms themselves.
However, it wasn’t as easy as to use it as one would think.
Molecule manipulation was extremely difficult to accomplish, still, Rain had managed to figure out some tricks after a very long time of practicing.
Aside from discharging electricity, Rain can use this magic to detect objects around him by detecting their movement and allowing him to see even objects that are invisible or obscured within 4 – 5 meters, as long as they are in motion.
This can be done because when using his power, he became sensitive to particles around him.
He also has the ability to restore physical structures to optimal condition.
He can repair and return any broken or damaged non-living object to its optimal state no matter how long it has been broken or how damaged it was or vice versa – Though when he did it, his consumption of mana was stupendously enormous - almost depleting his mana reserve from just a single short sword.
In addition, with his high school level knowledge in chemistry and physics, Rain managed to achieve the unbelievable feat of speeding up molecules to the extent that they either catch fire or melt or do it in reverse.
Reducing the kinetic energy of particles causing it cool down and freeze or best completely halt molecules to freeze objects.
Now, aside from electricity, of course, he is now able to generate Fire, Water, and Ice to basic levels.
This wasn’t known by Zarda and the others because Rain found difficulty in explaining how he had done it or what kind of magic he possesses. He has some realization of his power which was extremely unusual, or probably too omnipotent compared to Elemental and Irregular Elemental Magic.
As Rain was controlling the pale bluish colored electric sparks on his hands, Zarda’s hand started misbehaving. Her hand slid down Rain’s pants and went inside, grabbing his little brother.

“Chief?!” Rain exclaimed as he felt a warm feeling enveloping his member.
“Just ignore me and continue,” Zarda said with a gentle voice.
She glanced at Rain, her eyes filled with trust, confidence and also full of tenderness. Rain started to feel conflicted.
This kind of temptation was seriously unfair…
“We’re finally alone… don’t you think it would be a waste without doing anything?”
Rain stared at Zarda with a complicated expression and for some reason felt that her beautiful face looked as charming as ever. Any men can’t help but be tempted by this natural born seductress and he can already feel his reason snapping.
“Even if you say that,” Rain sighed.
“Lafetti will kill me if she knows about this… I don’t want to hurt her,” Rain held on in his remaining thread of reason and moral as he grabbed Zarda’s hand and pull it out from his pants.
He doesn’t want to hurt Lafetti and even if he admitted that he was attracted to Zarda, he wanted to avoid any kind of reason that might break him and Lafetti apart.
Zarda wasn’t angry nor did she give up.
She pulled her hand and embraced Rain instead, pulling him closer to her. “Rain,”
She called out. “What do you think of the Tribe…?”
“Hm?” Rain was startled. “The Tribe… was filled with many good people and I love it here. I even wonder sometimes, you are all so good to me, a human who had made many sins against you and your kind. I felt so ashamed. Besides, I just can’t think of a good reason as to why humans hate you… you are all good people…”
Zarda’s smile turned even more charming and her arms suddenly tightened. Zarda’s tail swayed, like a dog’s tail and even went to the point that it rose up and caressed Rain’s face with its tip. It looked like a playful snake as it went inside Rain’s mouth.
“Hey!” Rain was startled however, his arms were restricted by Zarda and no matter how strong he had become, it seems like Zarda’s strength was still heavens apart from him.
Zarda’s face was already beet red as she started to breathe heavily. She pulled her tail from Rain’s mouth and asked,

“Then, do you love the Tribe?”
Rain frowned but he still nodded his head. “Yeah, I love it.”
“How about the Lamians leaving here?”
Rain nodded again.
“Then that’s simple…” Zarda grins. “You don’t need to love Lafetti alone but also the others, including me…. isn’t it?”
But Rain shook his head. “No,”
He leaned his back making it rest on Zarda’s chest. “It’s not as simple you think, Chief…”
“… …”
“I don’t know why you’re saying this but, my love is only for Lafetti. My love for you and the others was completely different from what I had to Lafetti. I’m sorry,” Rain turns down with a helpless face.
Still, Zarda wasn’t fazed at all.
Mere words can never pacify her desire and dreams, for her and for her tribe, all of them can never be beaten by mere words alone.
“However, you are the tribe’s slave… Rain, did you forget that?” she said a hidden malicious gleam flashed across her beautiful ruby eyes.
The smile on her face right now was completely different from her usual.
Rain’s eyes widened in shock from Zarda’s obvious change.
“You, are our possession, Rain… our most important treasure…”
“Chief, I,” The turmoil in Rain’s head was almost bad enough to take an aspirin for.
“Time is unlimited,” Zarda ignored Rain and continued. Her hands started stripping his clothes off.
“The Tribe needed you, Rain, we needed you… and we will never relinquish our hope for you to share your love with us, too… not only to Lafetti but also to us.”
“… …”
“We can wait, even forever, for you to love us similar to how you love Lafetti…” A glimpse of sadness flashed in her eyes as she stared at Rain, longingly.
“I know, I’m asking too much, but the tribe will go crazy if we lost you – that’s how important you are, Rain, you’re our happiness in this desolate hell… if you abandon us, we won’t have any hope and happiness that would color our world anymore…”
This was actually neither a bluff nor an unfounded exaggeration.
To the Lamians living in seclusion in this Desolate world, Rain’s existence had lighted their fire to see the world beautifully which they had never seen nor felt before.
They can preserve their bloodline through kidnapping and rape men, however, the love, affection, acceptance, and acknowledgment that Rain showered to the Lamians was like opium, an addictive drug to them that they would never want to let go!
With Rain’s existence, the tribe had become colorful, living every day not only for survival but also for happiness.
In fact, Rain had somewhat noticed these things before.
He wasn’t an obsidian person nor a metal made man.
The way the other Lamias looked at him and how they behave in front of him, surely, in simple terms, Rain is starting to get a harem of Lamias without him wanting it.
And yeah, that idea got caught in the cobwebs of his mind. However, although it wasn’t bad but for a straight person like him, one man – one woman relationship was the best he could have.
He never thought about having a harem, after all, having one was extremely difficult to maintain, unlike those seen and portrayed in anime, manga or light novels. He can admire numerous women but love…?
That is asking too much for someone who had never even held a girl’s hand with intimate intentions, similar to that of lovers – in other words, his love life was extremely bleak before he was killed and transported into this world.
Men who were reading this story might curse me for not knowing how envious my situation was, Rain mused inwardly.
Still, having Lafetti in my life was already enough for me.
Rain was someone who knows how to be satisfied with what he has rather than those things that are still reaching for him. Being greedy only has two endings; Taking everything and become a winner in life… or destruction of everything you currently have.
Most cases, the former has 25% chances of succeeding and the latter of 75% chance of becoming true.
It’s like a gamble, win everything or lose everything…
And so, why would he still want to become a gambler?

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

God complex
A hero is summoned to another world, vanquishes evil, yadda yadda, saves the kingdom and lives happily ever after. There is no such hero in this story. Just a desperate youth with great ambition and very little to lose. A zero to hero style story set in a country clearly inspired by modern USA with just as many issues and the minority of mages often pulling strings from the shadows. I am also hoping the whole thing won't turn out edgy enough to cut me. I want to rely on actual good writing rather than cheap powertrip gimmicks. edit: Please don't mind Zetari's salty review. He is quite literally making up any use of the torture and human experimentation trope and says MC is blank after 4 chapters where he conveniently stops reading just at the start of his first character development. For extra entertainment, I will be uploading chapters two at a time and compose a relevant poem through the chapter names. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
