《Kinda Real Online》30. Realization

After stuffing ourselves, and actually feeling the uncomfortable feeling of being stuffed, we were brought to another room. It looked like a meeting room. There was a large table in the middle, a screen thing on one wall, and comfy looking chairs all around the table. We were told to wait there until the doctor came to get us. So we waited, and waited. We were all in a bit of a food coma, and no one really said anything.
Since this was my second time here, I was pretty sure that we were not in the game, or this was some special part of the game. Everything was too real. Eating, bleeding, even peeing. We didn't have the game system to take care of things. Normally you didn't feel stuffed. You could eat as much as you wanted, and never feel like you were going to expload because you ate too much. You never felt hungry, hot, cold, pain, or any of those natural real life things. Everything was numbed. Here I felt pain. I felt hunger. I felt stuffed. I could feel the texture of my tail, and that's when I realized, my tail could feel.
In the game, extra appendages would be almost completely numb. Though, most feeling was a bit numb anyway. Everything had the same texture. It might look different, but it all felt the same. It was almost like you just got some kind of indication that you touched something, without really feeling it. It was just a bit of pressure. The last time I had been here, everything was still a little numb, but there was still way more feeling to everything than in the game. This time, it felt as real as real life, and I could feel things with my tail. Like the chair I was sitting on, or the table, or my clothes. It was a wierd feeling. I could feel from a place that had never felt before, and before anyone says I forgot, I could also feel from my wings. It was the same with my wings as it was for my tail.

So as we sat there digesting, I was getting excited, and a bit scared. If this was real, so many possibilities were openned in front of us. Some good, some bad. Of course we still needed to figure it all out, before we could really do anything, but the possibility was still there.
"Lily, Marcus?" They looked at me with sleeply looks, "I was just wondering. Do you feel, different?"
"Different, how?" Lilly looked a little concerned.
"Like, everthing feels, real? Like it's not a game?"
"Just because the food was, good, doesn't mean that it can't be a game system. Just more realistic than normal. We all know that they have several different worlds that you could play on, and it might just be that this one is a realistic version." Marcus paused for a moment. "It does seem more realistic than I'd expect, but this is all within the realm of possibility. It's not that different. Even the pain you felt was probably just some kind of stimulation from the system."
"Marcus, shut up." Lily looked completely serious. "I am absolutely sure that this is not the game."
"What, how?"
She looked really uncomfortable. "I just know! This is very real."
Marcus and I looked at each other, and he kind of made the gesture that means 'you try'. I wasn't sure I actually wanted to try, Lily looked uncomfortable just thinking about whatever it was. So I figured I'd just offer my support without forcing it on her.
"Lily, if you ever want to talk, I'm a great listener. And I promise I won't tell Marcus."
"Hey, I want to know all her secrets."
She kind of smiled, "Thanks Bwyd. I'll definitely take you up on that later."

"I feel so left out. Why are you two the only ones who are sure this is real? That would be amazing. I've done plenty of reading... Lily, what happened to your supper embarrassment?"
Lily had an evil grin on her face, "I can prove that this is real."
"How?" Marcus seemed cautious.
"Well, you know that certain things are not allowed in the game, right?"
"There's a lot that isn't allowed. What, specifically, are you talking about?"
"X rated stuff."
Marcus' face immediately turned red. "I'm not interested in you that way."
Lily's bell laughter rang out, "Idiot, I don't want you to do it with us. Find a room and do it yourself. I know you've tried before."
His face became a bit more red, "We aren't supposed to leave this room."
"Your loss."
We all kind of sat there in silence, I was a bit shocked at Lily's complete change in atitude, though it did stop Marcus from asking questions. Before too much longer someone came in and told us the doctor wanted to see us in the augur machine room, so we followed him. On the way out, I heard Marcus whisper "You were right" to Lily, and Lily quietly giggled.
The doctor was waiting in the augur machine room, but he had a few crystal structures in there, that weren't there before. There were three around where we had appeared. They looked like six foot tall radio towers made out of crystal, and they had a thin glowing line connecting their tops. In the middle of them was a ball of light. The doctor was standing near them looking at his ball tablet.
"Good, you are here. I have managed to stabilize the residual energy that you three left behind, but I am unable to interact with it. It seems to reject any attempt I make to control or absorb it. Can any of you do anything with this?"
Marcus stepped closer, "From what I can tell, this appears to be some kind of magical energy, from the place we came from."
"If that's the case you should be able to do something with it. You should resonate. All we've been able to do is contain it here. There was more when we first discovered it, but it was dispersing. Just reach your hand in, let's see what happens."
Marcus reached his hand in, and was immediately thrown back about twenty feet. It looked like he was struck by lightning that came from the ball of light. A couple of the other people in the room rushed over to him, but he jumped up before they got to him.
"Eureka! I know what happened!"

Viceroy's Pride
This story could be about the Tellask Empire, ruler of a thousand suns and faced with imminent peril at the hands of the Orakh hordes. It could be about Paltai Amberell, the scion of a noble elven House, fallen upon hard times and seeking to find the key that will restore his family's name and save the Empire itself. It could be the story of his voidship, The Viceroy's Pride, powered by magic and crewed by a team of crack marines as they search for adventure and the solution to the Empire's myriad problems. Instead, this is the story of Daniel Thrush, human electrical engineer, befuddled researcher and survivor of the debacle that was first contact with a spacefaring civilization. Due to a combination of luck, magic, hard work, and more luck he is thrust into the center of events as Earth is shoved onto a much larger stage rife with semi-immortal elves and magical kingdoms that predate the Earthly invention of agriculture. Earth is outnumbered, and we have precisely one wizard. Dan. He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. ---------- Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit. A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose). I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself. His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27. If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn. This is NOT a harem novel. Nothing against them, just not what it is. --------- Updates Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Feel free to bother me on our discord- Discord!

Star Wars: Downfall
This is my take on what should've happened with Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker. The story is a technical rewrite of "Revenge of the Sith", but it features Ahsoka Tano. Also this IS Anisoka shipped. Please Enjoy :)
