《Kinda Real Online》51. Time Lapse Finale

One thing I have to say about Brogan's people is they were very well organized and adaptable. You'd think a bunch of refugees from a dying world would have trouble adapting to a video game world where all their needs were taken care of in different dimesional spaces. But they were not bothered at all. They all had jobs from their original world, and for the ones that didn't quite fit in to my world they found something similar.
They also came up with a plan for using the available space in an efficient way. They asked for my permission first, but all I had really cared about was my space for researching curses, and now that I was cured, I really didn't need that anymore. I kept it because, who knows what kind of curses I might need to take care of in the future, and if I had some kind of power over curses, I probably should learn morea about them. So, the rest of that space was available for them to do what they wanted. They did have me split it up a bit differently than I originally set it up. My food production facilities stayed the same, but they wanted more of a focus on production, than research, so I adjusted the focus to 10% research and 40% production. Once that was done they came up with a detailed plan on how to use the space in the best possible way. I didn't really get involved in that, but from what I understood they set up the research space for studing magic, and The Haka, and the production space was set up to produce the gadgets they were used to. They didn't make any MUDs because my system worked for that, but they made tools, vehicles, and weapons.

It took them a couple months to get everything running the way they wanted, and to set up a government that worked the way I wanted. Which wasn't actually that hard. I think their government was some kind of counsel led socialist thing, with a skill based caste system. Basically they had an aptitude test that determined what job you had to do in life, and they had a counsel with the top people from each job that made the rules. Some jobs did more counsel members than others, and somehow they had a rich section, but I wasn't too worried about what they had, so I didn't ask too many questions.
What we decided on for a government was a little bit like what they had, except I was above the counsel, and there were three people from each section. We also split it a little bit differently, and the counsel members were picked by voting, lottery, and senority. So basically the top person was on the counsel, then there was some random person, and a popular person. We also used a bit of a different system for dividing people. We had the science section, the food section, the defense section, the engineering section, the magic section, and the scouts. So there were eighteen people on the counsel, plus I got to put two people on the counsel to represent me. I obviously choose Marcus, but I also picked Brogan because he gave me a blanket and I felt bad about not knowing his name for so long.
Since I was above the counsel I was able to veto anything they decided, but for the most part I wasn't planning on getting too involved in politics. I just had one rule. Respect others. As long as the counsel could follow that rule I wouldn't bother them. Besides, I was just enjoying being a dragon. And exploring my dimension. There were creatures in the woods, and not just birds and deer and normal woodland creatures. There were drakes, and unicorns, and basilisks, and a hydra, and a bunch of other magical creatures. There weren't any intelligent ones, or very intelligent (unicorns were kind of smart), but they all seemed to understand that this was my world. I could watch the hydra defend it's home from drakes, but if I went to visit it was very submissive. I was pretty sure that I could have told it to do things and it would have had to obey me. I didn't really want to do that, well I might have gotten it to dance, but other than that, I let them do what they wanted. Except come too close to my fortress. I figured it would be good to keep them away, so that anyone who wanted to go on a nature walk could be safe. I did warn people that there were monsters in the woods, and that they wouldn't come too close, and that's why we got the scouts.

They started scouting out the monster nests, and exterminating the ones that got too strong. And yes, unicorns are scary when there is a herd of them. They look pretty, but they've got a real mean streak. Unless you happen to be a virgin, or me. They never attacked virgins, until the virgin attacked them. Even though they started destroying nests the number of nests never went down. Another one would just spawn a day or two after one was destroyed. Then it would get stronger until the scouts found it and decided it was time to get rid of it. They got contribution points for destroying nests, and they could even get some cool rewards, but I had barely any control over all that. I could basically tell the creatures what to do, and they would do it as long as I was there, but the rest of it was all automatic. Marcus thought it was because of how this was originally part of a game world, or at least supposed to be.
So over the course of a year, we got a lot of things done. Made a new government, created a social system, set up an adventuring association (the scouts), and learned how to be a dragon. I had promised Marcus that I wouldn't go to Earth without him, because he could actually make us invisble while I could only try to hide in shadows, so at the end of the year a group of us, me, Marcus, Brogan, and some scouts, left my dimension and entered Earth. The moment we did we got a notification.

And we were in a white room, just like when we talked to the administrator, except we could move and talk normally. There wasn't an administrator, but there was a timer that was counting down. It started at one minute, and while Marcus was babbling incoherently it reached 0, and we were standing in the redwood forest outside my dimension. There were still soldiers there, but they were all waking up. Like they went unconscious at the same time. And we had another notification.

Book 6: The Frenzied Tide Synopsis: A sword hangs above the Eastern Territories. The Human God, progenitor of all life, the direct cause of the beastfolk genocide, has made his will known to the rulers of the East — make peace with the God of Water, or be destroyed in three months. Gaius, who has left the battlefield to return home, is once again called to fight, to support a do-or-die offensive upon their foe's territory. But in the background, the threads of destiny are beginning to come together. Plots set in motion long ago are coming to fruition... Book 7: Limina of Ruin Synopsis: The chalice has broken. However, Gaius gazes not at the present, but at the future beyond. What does he see there? And what will he do? Book 13: Destiny Divergent Synopsis: Bells ring, and destiny veers. Mortal miracles, having pierced a divine destiny, now turn their light of annihilation upon the legendary land of dangers and dark myth. A single being who should have slept forever reawakens, carrying out a inherited duty to protect. Hidden differences erupt, comrades turn upon comrades, and the alliance begins to crumble. What should have been a happy ending begins to fall apart. Book 14: Abyss Ascendent Synopsis: As a future of never-ending conflict draws closer, Gaius stands at the centre of Orb, his will tempered and set. What the Wildlands has ceased to be, he will inherit. Divine Kingdoms and mortal nations clamour for peace to prepare for greater wars, but Gaius will no longer stand for that. For the sake of his dream, the Five Lands — and now, the Wildlands — must be unified against a common enemy. Gaius himself.
