Chapter 23 – Trap

By the time Ryo noticed, it was dark and they decided to just rent one of the room inside one of the inn. Still in his heart Ryo thought, the residents really was crazy while they were walking Ryo could even see some dead people lying on the ground probably got hit by the stones or magic that was drop by the enemy but the rest of the people didn’t care. He really hope he won’t be like these people, at the same time he was relieved seeing Reena frowning all the way, not sure whether she was unhappy not being able to be alone with him or unhappy about the death and destruction that is happening but was ignored.

“Ut…to… Sigh why am I doing this? …” (???)

At that point of time, Ryo felt heavy and caused him to wake up. Which made him speechless seeing someone was sitting on top of him. He kept rubbing his eyes as he doesn’t believe this kind of stuff could happen to him. A girl attacking him while he was sleeping.

“…W-wha…What are you doing? S-stop that you will make it worse if you keep rubbing it like that…. Wait that’s sounds wrong” (???)

‘That voice…. Reena?’ (Ryo)

It was still very early morning thus it was dark and Ryo eyes unfortunately couldn’t see the person properly.

“O-Of course it’s me…. Wait … you wanted Haibara to come didn’t you?” (Reena)

“Eh? No it didn’t came to me at all, I just wanted to ask what are you trying to do?” (Ryo)

“??? I want to wake you up but even after I called or shake you, you still didn’t woke up.” (Reena)

“…..And somehow or another this is the best way to wake me up?” (Ryo)

Ryo slowly move his eyesight away from Reena and towards his stomach, meanwhile Reena slowly realize what she had done. Her face became totally red and her hands were flailing around but she still didn’t get away thus Ryo thought she had finally become bold enough to be an adult.

“…….. Reena are you sure?” (Ryo)

“….Ergh huh? S-Sure about what?” (Reena)

“Doing it here?” (Ryo)

“??? D-Doing what?” (Reena)

Ryo thought Reena were just shy on saying it but looking at her a second time, he saw that Reena were too tensed up that she couldn’t move at all. He sighed to himself, of course, how could Reena have the courage to do this, should he just do it anyway? It seems like a long time before he decided that he should wait till he have his own house. Ryo slowly carried her up using his both of his hands, Reena were panicking while he was carrying her but she still couldn’t do anything about it. After yawning Ryo was about to go down to have quick shower if there’s one and start on his breakfast when his hand sleeve were tugged by Reena.

“?? W-Whats wrong? You changed your mind” (Ryo)

“??? I-I want to tell you something…” (Reena)

“Okay? Continue on” (Ryo)

“All of the people in the city is under some kind of spell… An illusion spell.” (Reena)

‘So that’s why she was frowning all these time?’ (Ryo)

Ryo flick his index finger on Reena forehead

“??? Ouch!” (Reena)

“Thanks for the heads-up but we shouldn’t do anything in this case… Right Haibara?” (Ryo)

“…………………Yes………………….” (Haibara)

“EEHH!?? Haibara was here!?” (Reena)

“Somehow or another …….. Anyway I want to get a bath or a shower if possible.” (Ryo)

All three of them split up while Reena were still thinking why they shouldn’t do anything…

‘B-But…….. Isn’t cruel… By the time they woke up, all of their love ones may or may not disappear without them knowing what had happen to them.’ (Reena)

After they were done with their own stuff and finally finish breakfast, the door of the inn were opened by Nanami. It seems there were someone following them all these time as she knew where they stayed at without difficulty. She relayed a message from the king stated that they will pull a group from the 3rd platoon and they will be helping them to solve the problem.

Being able to stop the war will reward each of them a promotion of rank and a huge amount of gold in addition to that Nanami also told them that she will be joining them in this mission. Nanami saw that Reena were still frowning as she were still thinking about the residents in the city that was spelled by an illusion but Ryo just told Nanami that Reena were angry at him. Nanami on the other hand just smile wryly at Ryo.

‘Nanami probably knew it first hand as Haibara already knew about it when we ask her’ (Ryo)

The next two days was Ryo having to walk around every corner of the city and if there’s free time he would use his map-out skill to check all of the places that he had been to, even Kitaro village that was currently having people fighting here and there as the food stock and supplies didn’t reach to their place thus the cost of the stuff is increasing as the time pass by.

“Come on Ryo why are you so stubborn in exploring this whole place, why can’t you just help these people out!?” (Reena)

“I’m helping them out by doing this….. ” (Ryo)

“Hoooh how?” (Reena)

“Well ….. Didn’t I told you about the skill I got, this is part of it.” (Ryo)

“R-Really!?” (Reena)

“Ergh… Yeah…” (Ryo)

‘It’s a relief that she is a simple minded person… ’ (Ryo)

Reena suddenly hug Ryo while saying ‘thanks’ as she didn’t think that Ryo would listen to her selfishness but the truth was Ryo just wanted to be able to see everything when he is using his skill, isn’t that the most convenient thing to do, while everyone were hiring people to keep a look out on the place, Ryo could just pretend to sleep while he move around. It is just like having to control a view called free camera in a game. Ryo could even zoom in and out and see all of the map that he unlock by just walking pass by the place. It is just like playing a game of RTS, [Real time strategy] Command & conquer or planetary annihilation or supreme commander well there’s many more but you can get it.

Of course the more he zoom out, all of the things he sees will just be icons that he slowly would need to learn what each icon stands for but for now he need to get all of the map information he needs thus he finally found a goal in this world. To unlock all of the contents in this world.

Firstly he thought he was a genius by buying most of the map in other human Kingdom in order to unlock the place unfortunately it didn’t work and it also gave him a lecture by Reena that was angry at him for wasting money as map isn’t exactly cheap in this world. It cost him about 40 gold altogether, he regretted not trying to just buy one first as he was so confident in his abilities that he bought everything in a bundle in order to lessen the cost. Well most of them were Reena and Nanami money anyway.

The days past till it was time to meet up with the commander of the Wujiria kingdom. There were 12 people altogether going through the secret passageway to go out. Apparently the war was still ongoing even though it didn’t even affect or damage the city at all. The first four people were Ryo, Reena, and Haibara and lastly was Nanami while the rest of them were soldiers from the Capital of Hiiro.

Ryo just realized that he could just destroyed the enemy supplies to force them to back away, if that’s the case the enemy still might threaten them. Who knows what the King of Wujiria would do.

‘Oh well, not exactly my problem what happen to the Kingdom anyway, though I do want go there someday in future so I would like to avoid creating a chaos when I go there. Wait! I got metamorphosis… What the hell am I doing…?’ (Ryo)

Seeing Ryo suddenly face-palmed himself, almost everyone gave him a weird look while Haibara and Reena just ignore it thus shows how it was a normal occurrence to them.

Arrived at the location made Ryo confused for a moment seeing how so many people died. Ryo looking around and finally saw Shichiro leaning on one of the tree and he was coughing badly. Blood came out from his mouth as he kept on coughing, Nanami quickly tried to heal him but unfortunately he was poisoned, normal antidote or even Nanami cure spell couldn’t make the poison go away.

“G-Get away from here!! It is a trap!!” (Shichiro)

“Sigh….. Why can’t we just end this thing quick? ….” (Ryo)

“Uhm… Ryo? Can you stop talking to yourself and help me carry him before more enemy comes?” (Nanami)

“Too late…” (Haibara)

Hearing the warning from Haibara, all twelve of them looked towards the horizon. The sound of people screaming was heard and they all saw and smell the smoke that could be seen from afar.

It was the Capital of Hiiro, it suddenly were bombarded by a huge amount of magic. The defensive magic that was applied weren’t strong enough to defend it thus 30 percent of it manage to bypass the magic and hit the Capital head on.

Back to their situation, they were slowly surrounded by five thousand troops after seeing their commander that was carried by Ryo were enrage, they didn’t even question Ryo’s party and just charge at them.

Three of the soldiers that was following them died without knowing what happen to them, it seems they were hit by an arrow that was conveniently sticking out of their forehead. The next consecutive arrow went straight towards Ryo and his party but he quickly manage to destroy it effortlessly as having high dexterity literally made him have a fast reflex reaction.

Ryo quickly told everyone to follow him while he made way, at the same time telling Nanami to create a barrier so that it will either deflect or block the magicians and arrow but seeing the arrow were able to pass through her barrier easily shocked Nanami.

Nanami became scared and tense.

“I-I can’t activate my magic….” (Nanami)

“W-What bullshit ………..are you saying!?” (Ryo)

While he was shouting to Nanami the arrows flew straight to Ryo but he just deflect the arrow with his sword. Meanwhile out of the eight soldiers that were following him, only one was left. Reena and Haibara were fighting and defending at the same time. Reena were showing an unbelievable face while Haibara were showing an amusing face as they look at Ryo and Nanami that was shouting at each other without caring what was happening around them.

“TCH!!” (???)

“Ohh the archer left… Finally! Alright guy and ladies! Change of plan!” (Ryo)

Ryo told everyone to grab him including the soldier that was showing a disgusted face, he was the only guy left in the group of soldiers. After everyone grab hold of Ryo, he quickly run and jump up high, high enough to see the Capital from far.

“ARGGHGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!” (???)

“Huh!?” (Ryo)

After landing to the ground Ryo finally realized that the only soldier was gone and Reena were showing a WTF face. Apparently Haibara didn’t want Nanami to hold onto Ryo and started kicking her but the soldier protected Nanami but he accidentally let go of his grip and well …………. To summarize, he died.

Nanami and Haibara continues to glare at each other. Ryo were confuse as isn’t both of them knew each other since young? Damn, Haibara has no mercy even if it’s her best friend when it comes to Ryo.

“We talk about this later, for now come on let’s go back to the castle walls.” (Ryo)

Ryo blame himself for checking his skill while flying, he was checking whether are they dropping at the safe place or not.
