Part 1
Shin couldn’t understand anything, but his bloodied, bruised and swelling face revealed a faint satisfied smile.
‘I did it (?)’ Thinking that much Shin closed his eyes and lost consciousness.
“You pathetic piece of shit.” The assassin weakly cried out as he pulled himself out of the wall.
“I’m going to kill you for this. This is all your fault, if it weren’t for those eyes…”
The assassin slowly made his way across the room.
There were several new cracks in the walls of the building and a huge hole for every window of the institution.
This wasn’t just the case with the orphanage but all the buildings in this poor neighbourhood. The houses and other buildings in the vicinity had been constructed from poor material.
The assassin didn’t understand what happened but from a single glance through where the window used to be he could tell that something like a ‘bomb’ had gone off. Given the devastation of the surrounding area and the emergency alarms ringing all over Tokyo it was likely something big happened.
Something of this scale meant that the country’s borders would be sealed. The assassin knew he had to make his escape now whilst everything was chaotic. The target had most likely escaped and the assassin blamed Shin for it, the helpless boy who lay on the floor.
Anger swelled in his heart, as the assassin recollected how foolish he had been to lower his defense. ‘This is all your fault…’ He muttered.
The assassin pulled out a small gun which was hidden away in his now-tattered skirt.
“Die…” He muttered as he pointed the gun at Shin.
“STOP!” Inoue’s sharp voice cut through the room.
The assassin stood frozen in his place, with the gun pointed at Shin. Inoue slowly crept out of the storeroom. She didn’t know what had happened but when she woke up she found several of the children were now awake – some of them were crying and some were frozen in shock. Her eyes quickly surveyed the room and found Akito stuck in the wall. However what shocked her the most was Shin’s condition – he was at the edge of life and death.

Inoue didn’t have much time to figure out what happened but it was clear that the boy was somehow involved in once again saving her life. A bitter taste swept Inoue’s mouth as she realized her weakness resulted in an innocent being involved in her affairs. If it wasn’t for Shin, Akito would have died to the poison by now and she would have been caught by the assassin…the debt of gratitude she owed to Shin was too large.
It was a complicated feeling Inoue had – he was the same age as her yet she who was acknowledged as the genius of her clan felt he was a much more superior existence?
“You…foolish…girl…” The assassin spoke with great difficulty as he slowly turned his head with great difficulty to face Inoue. “You…should…have…stayed….hidden…”
Although, it couldn’t been seen, the assassin right now was under incredible pressure as though a large boulder had been dropped on his tiny body. His body refused to listen to him. No it was responding to him however it was incredibly difficult for him to move it freely.
“DON’T MOVE!” Inoue cried out as beads of sweat formed on her forehead. She was using all of her will and power to restrain the assassin. Had she been in her prime condition this would not have been so difficult however saving Akito had depleted her of her strength and left her greatly exhausted. Furthermore, it seemed as though this assassin had some training in resisting her ‘control’.
The situation was quite grim of Inoue and the others. Many thoughts rushed through her mind however she knew if she showed a moment of weakness, the assassin would break free from her control and kill them all. What worried her the most was Shin’s condition – he needed to be rushed to the hospital immediately.

The assassin picked up on the cues – he noticed Inoue’s eyes were fixed on the little boy that lay in front of him. A devious plan quickly formed in his head. “He won’t make it…” The assassin spoke more freely than before, clearly her grip was weakening.
“I said don’t move!” Inoue screamed out as she used up all her strength to ‘control’ the assassin. Inoue was smart, she knew what the assassin wanted to do – break her mental attack by finding the small chink of weakness in her mental defences. However, she was not going to allow that to happen.
“Sado!” She called out.
A chubby boy who was sitting up on his bed dazed slowly moved when his name was called out. Sado recognized the voice – it was his new friend Inoue. However, although he heard Inoue’s voice he could not see her.
“Sado!” Inoue called out again with great urgency in voice.
Sado slowly turned to see the little girl standing next to the store room. She looked a lot like Inoue except she gave of a more dignified appearance. Another stark difference was that this girl’s hair was silver in color. “Inoue?” The little chubby boy slowly asked.
Inoue nodded her head.
“Inoue!” The boy quickly responded to her nod. This was indeed Inoue! As the boy came to his senses, he realized that there was someone else in the room as well…a man dressed in the caretaker’s clothes….and then there was Akito in the wall….and…why was the window completely destroyed….
“Sado!” Inoue cried out desperately as she noticed that Sado already appeared terrified and apprehensive. “Listen to me! You remember big sister’s teaching?”
Sado once again turned to face Inoue and then slowly nodded.
“There is a stranger in the institution and he hurt Akito and me…” Inoue didn’t have to say any more.
Sado immediately understood what had to be done. He promptly got of the bed and began guiding the other children out of the room. He was the eldest child in the institute and was well versed for situations such as these – after all they all received emergency training. He wanted to bring Inoue along with him but his instincts told him that Inoue was the reason why the stranger wasn’t hurting anyone and it was best not to disturb her.
After the room had been emptied, Sado came back to the room one last time and checked on Inoue. She was still facing the stranger and the stranger stood in the same position holding a gun…Sado frowned as he dashed towards the phone….he had to call the police!

Magikind
Disclaimer: This is a low-fantasy, soft-sci-fi genre. In fact, it's a variety of genres, so don't be too put off by the tags Through several centuries of selective breeding, these beings, known as mages, have become part of the very foundations of society. However, some humans refused to change or adapt along with them. They believed in purity and refused to interbreed with magikind. Known as the manush, they were a rarity among society. Now, in the fifth millennia, the manush are thought to be extinct. With magikind ruling the world, a three-way war grips society between Eurasia, Afro-Australian Alliance and The Americas. In these uncertain times, a manush called Gin enters the Eurasian army. From there, our journey unfolds. A story of how mankind could realistically evolve while still pushing boundaries. PS.
