《Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path》Chapter 59

Leon counted twenty big trolls around the crystal, and they really just looked like big trolls. They were four meters tall. Thus the proportion was bigger. However, everything else was pretty the same, but… they had no ice clubs.
“They don’t have because they don’t need it? Or is there any other reason?”
Leon looked around but didn’t find the reason; it looked like the guy who survived didn’t give all the information. Regardless, it was already too late to complain. Convenient enough, it looked like they didn’t notice the death of the minions, but soon would notice Leon’s presence if he kills a monster so close.
Leon retreaded a little and started to think about what he should do if he had such an attack; he would attack all of them at the same time since they were so close to each other. He could create a Fire Ball big enough to engulf all of them. As long as they don’t notice, Leon would have time not only to increase the size and the power. However, the dungeon wasn’t that big. The end of the dungeon was, but on other parts, only one of those trolls could pass at a time.
“I can kill them one by one in those small corridors, but if they all come at the same time… I eventually will run out of mana. Returning to the entrance of the dungeon to get mana potions is also a pain…”
In the end, that was Leon’s only option. He couldn’t risk damaging the crystal. Otherwise, his attack could summon even more bosses. At least it looked like the trolls couldn’t do the same to call more of their companions.
Regardless, Leon started to analyze the terrain in order to use it in his favor. As long as he uses earth to block and fly low, he was sure that he could move faster than the trolls. The problem was the fact that they were hiding something and that in his arsenal, only Magma Spear seemed capable of killing them. He had to destroy their hearts and head, so he would have to use two of those… he didn't have enough mana to kill them, not by a long shot.

“I guess I will make some traps to slow them down… After that, I should make a more powerful version of my steel spears.”
The first idea was to create hundreds of gigantic bear traps. Unless the trolls break the traps, they won’t be able to regenerate, and even if they do, they lose some seconds doing so, and Leon would have time to attack them. It took several hours, but Leon created them.
After the bear traps, Leon also made some holes under the bear traps and put metal spikes in them. Using Water Manipulation and control, he could easily do that, and since the ceiling of the cave wasn’t tall, the trolls wouldn’t be able to jump to avoid the traps. As if that wasn’t enough, Leon also made some fake-holes in the ceiling. There he put vast amounts of steel shurikens; the holes would break with the movement of their bodies, and then their heads would be cut little by little by those shurikens. It wouldn’t cause that damage, but it should keep them busy for a few more seconds.
“Traps below and traps upwards… I never knew I could be so nasty. Well, this is their punishment for making me lose so much time here.”
In the end, Leon spent thirty-six hours creating those traps, but he still had to prepare the grand finale, his new steel spears. He created four of them, and they looked a lot like the sahuagins’ tridents. They had three points because Leon would spin them like a sharp mixer; he made four of them and spent twelve hours because he wanted them as sharp as possible.
“Here goes nothing.”
Since it wasn’t hitting anything, when Leon made his spears spin, he didn’t hear anything either. Only the air pressure that was amazing since the spear was even heavier than the old ones. Those could be used as a silent weapon, and Leon used them like that, he made those hit two trolls by behind. Although the spears had to pierce their meat for a few seconds, it eventually destroyed their brains and hearts.

Leon didn’t have time to celebrate; he didn’t even felt like celebrating because his attack made blood rain over the end of the cave. The trolls finally noticed his presence and began to run toward him, but just like Leon had expected, they slowed them when they reached the corridor. Leon moved away with his earth platform and spears, and soon the first troll stepped on a trap and also fell on others, both legs got pierced by metal spikes, and Leon didn’t waste time. He killed it.
Two dumb trolls tried to jump over the hole, only to hit their heads on the ceiling and make several shurikens fell on them. The sharpness of those wasn’t something to laugh at, so it cut their skin like butter. It was probably due to the level of Leon Blacksmith's skills… Regardless, they soon fell on the floor and get impaled by metal spikes. Once again, Leon attacked their heart and heads while making blood rain over the area.
Things were going well, too well. Enranged, the monsters pointed their hands toward Leon, and he finally noticed why they didn’t have ice clubs; it was because they could create them whenever they wanted. Several magic projectiles made of ice flew toward Leon, but he reached the end of the corridor before he could be hit. But the walls that got hit by those projectiles trembled, and their attacks pierced very deeply…
“Regeneration and such high level of ranged attacks… so troublesome.”

But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source.
