I felt particularly inspired as it is my birthday this weekend so I wrote an extra chapter this week. Please read and review. Also follow and favorite if you like what you are reading. I'm also looking for an illustrator as I am thinking about publishing this after I write this original rough draft. I plan on posting over 75 chapters. Keep reading.
Chapter 9: Hiro and Foria vs. the orcs
Hiro and Foria were stalking the small hunting party of 5 orcs for about 45 minutes. Finally, they stopped. Foria climbed a nearby tree and made an owl hooting noise to let Hiro know she was ready. Hiro gave Foria the same signal and she began to open fire on the orcs. She rained down her arrows with her normal deadly pinpoint accuracy. Her first shot pierced straight through the back of the skull of the orc holding the bow. The arrows rained down sending the orcs into a state of confusion. Next, Hiro who was hiding behind a tree activated his dashing slash attack ability, with his blinding speed he was able to decapitate one of the orcs before they had a chance to react. Immediately after his attack he used his icy stare to confuse and create fear amongst the group. As they backed away from Hiro Foria took one of them out with a well placed arrow through the back of his neck. Now there were only 2 left.
They moved toward Hiro and tried to attack him from both sides. His predict ability allowed him to see through the simple attacks. He dodged one club and used his shield bash to counter the other. When his iron shield struck the club, it was reduced to splinters. After destroying the weapon, Hiro drove his sword into the chest of the orc through its leather armor. The orc fell dead in a pool of its own blood. As the other orc tried to move in from Hiro’s blindspot, he quickly turned to face the enemy. He parried the next attack with his blade and struck the orc with his shield bash attack causing a large gash in the orc’s temple. The orc fell back onto the ground dropping its weapon.
Shield mastery increased to level 4
Shield bash to level 3
As the orc who was bleeding profusely, it slowly crawled backwards, Hiro slowly walked up to end his life. The fear on the orc’s face was like a drug to Hiro. He relished the moment. As he moved closer his shadow covered the defenseless orc, he raised he sword and slashed across the orcs neck separating the orcs head from its body. Hiro turned around and noticed Foria taking the bow and quiver from the dead orc. The bow was of decent quality. It was much better than the poorly constructed one Hiro had made. “What kind of damage can she do with that?” Hiro thought to himself. Satisfied with their triumph Hiro and Foria rested for a few moments and went back towards the orc camp.
Once they arrived back at the orc camp. The observed the rest of the orcs that the remaining orcs were only equipped with weak weapons and leather armor much like the ones that they ambushed. The only one that concerned Hiro was the beastmaster. His armor was leather but he also had a metallic gauntlet on his arm and large two-handed sword that he carried attached to his back. Hiro decided that they would start the attack with Foria killing as many as she could from a perch in a tree so she could stay hidden. Hiro also thought he would need a diversion in order to get into the camp and begin the melee slaughter of the orcs. He felt like using his fireball ability would do the trick. He could use it to ignite some of their tents while they were inside. So with their plan set Foria climbed a tree that gave her a great view of the center of the camp but covered in this leaves and branches as not to reveal her location easily. Hiro activated his hide ability and began to move closer to the camp.

When Foria fired her first shot through the temple of one of the orcs, Hiro immediately cast his fireball spell burning one of the tents to ashes with 2 orcs inside. As Hiro moved towards the beastmaster, orcs began to close in on him form the sides running and screaming with their short swords and clubs flailing in the air. As they came from behind cover, Foria skillfully slayed them one by one until only Hiro and the beastmaster were left.
The beastmaster unleashed his wolf and it charged directly at Hiro. Hiro did not flinch, as he had fought several beasts he was fully confident in his ability to take down the wolf. As the wolf charged Foria shot several arrows all missed accept one which hit the wolf in his front leg. This shot caused the wolf to stumble and Hiro took advantage of the opportunity. As the wolf crashed down because of the arrow through its leg, He jumped up and came down with the full weight of his blade crashing through the torso of the wolf. Blood squirted out onto Hiro who removed his blade and moved onto the Beastmaster.
Hiro moved prematurely because the wolf was not yet dead and with its large paw it struck at Hiro. His prediction ability alerted him to the attack but he was unable to dodge it. He used is shield to try to block the attack. The paw slammed into Hiro’s shield throwing Hiro about 10 meters across the camp and into a tree. Hiro’s dropped over 100 points. This was a heavy blow. In addition Hiro’s left shoulder had been dislocated so he was now unable to wield his shield. Hiro let out scream of pain.
Your arm is injured. Your strength is reduced by 25%
Endurance increased to level 10.
"Just what I needed another status ailment!"
Foria jumped down from her tree perch and rushed towards Hiro to help knowing full well of the horrible situation that was unfolding.
The Beastmaster now removed the large blade from behind his back and began to move towards the injured Hiro. In order to try to defend himself, Hiro dropped the shield as his arm could no longer wield the heavy shield. As the Beastmaster began to run towards Hiro arrows began to fly. The beastmaster dodged them skillfully. He moved so fast that it seemed as though there clones of him. The beastmaster continued on his path toward Hiro. Hiro steadied himself as he knew this would be tough. He readied his sword and waited.
The Beastmaster’s attacks were on another level. The prediction lines came so quickly Hiro could hardly keep up. The length of the beastmaster’s blade kept Hiro at a distance where he could not counterattack. The beastmaster must have noticed that Hiro’s arm was damaged because he began striking him on his left side. Hiro’s dodging ability was helping him stay away from the fatal attacks of the blade but the beastmaster began to land some punches and kicks on Hiro when Hiro dodged the blade.
The beastmaster slashed his blade down vertically against Hiro. Hiro stopped the attack with his longsword but the beastmaster kicked him in the chest sending him flying back. Hiro rolled over and stuck his sword in the ground to try and stand up. “This guy is tough but I can die here. What can I do though? My body is racked with pain and I only have a third of my health remaining.”

Hiro could not land an effective attack and Foria’s attacks were useless against the skillful Beastmaster. “I’ve got to save him.” With her last arrow Foria decided to try a different approach. She shot the lock off of the cage that held her brother and the large stranger. The lock fell to the ground and she immediately used her small hunting knife that Hiro had given her to cut the ropes that bound her brother and the stranger.
“Korin, its me Foria! Wake up!” She slapped him in the face. He opened his eyes. “Get up we are in great danger. My friend is battling the beastmaster but he is hurt and I fear he may die.”
“Foria? Is it really you? They got you too?”
“No I did what you asked and got help. Now I need you to help my friend. Please brother he is dying.”
Her brother, Korin, immediately ran out to help. He cast a fireball spell that forced the beastmaster to back up. Next, Korin pointed his hand towards Hiro and began muttering some words. Hiro’s arm began to have a glowing aura around it. He could feel the bone inserting itself back into the joint. As the bone returned he was in agony and screamed out in pain,
“GRRAAHHHHH!” Once the bone return to the joint the pain he was feeling subsided and the glow vanished.
Your arm has recovered now your strength has returned to normal.
Hiro squeezed his hand together making a fist showing that had strength had returned. Next, he looked at the beastmaster as he picked up his shield and said, “This is it for you!” Hiro raised his sword and screamed out, “AHHHHHHHH!!!”
Hiro’s anger had exploded and released his ki which surrounded him in a reddish colored shrouded.”
New ability learned, Warrior's Battle Cry.
Skill Name:Skill Rank:Skill Level:Skill Experience:Warrior's Battle CryBeginner010%When this ability is used it gives the user an incredible boost in attack power. It also strikes fear in the heart of all enemies and draws their attention to him and his extremely threatening aura.
Hiro dashed toward the beastmaster. The beastmaster swung his sword to meet his charge but Hiro used his shield to deflect the attack. The beastmaster was off-balance after the deflection. Hiro took this opportunity to slash the beastmaster’s torso. His enemy darted backward but not without suffering some damage. It was bleeding from a small gash that opened in between its ribs. Hiro pursued his enemy unwilling to fight at a distance that put him at a disadvantage. He swung his sword while close to the beastmaster but it used its metal gauntlet to stop the blow. The gauntlet held firm. “How strong is he to stop my blade with one arm?” Hiro quickly headbutted the beastmaster causing blood to spill from its nose. Hiro smiled and the two separated and began their attacks again.
The two warriors sized each other up carefully analyzing their opponent. Hiro activated his dashing slash and exploded towards the beastmaster. He slashed at his enemy but the beastmaster was able to stop the attack by blocking with his sword. He then turned his blade sideways causing Hiro to break his stance then elbowed Hiro in the face. Blood poured from Hiro’s mouth. Once again they reset and got ready for their next attack.
They seemed to be fighting evenly. They attacked each other furiously. Each attack filled with murderous intent. The blades flew so quickly that it was hard for the on looking people to even follow the path of the swords being swung. All you could hear is the clang of metal on metal as the swords struck their targets. The battle was deadlocked.
The two warriors swung their blades over and over but neither could do any damage to the other. The beastmaster’s gauntlet and Hiro’s shield kept them protected from each other’s attack. That was until Korin cast a spell of bind on the beastmaster causing him to momentarily be paralyzed. This was all of the opportunity that Hiro needed. He charged in and activated his dashing slash ability. With one swift motion he plunged his sword into the chest of the monster. Blood spurted out towards Hiro as the beastmaster dropped to its knees and released its sword. With the last ounce of its strength it tried to strike Hiro in his face but the attack hit nothing but air as Hiro had jumped back before it could land. Finally, Hiro’s worth foe fell face down dead. “A warrior to the end. I will salute you.”
Level increased to 12
Level increased to 13
Shield mastery increased to level 6
Sword mastery increased to level 10
Foria jumped for joy as she and her brother praised Hiro for vanquishing the beastmaster. Foria ran and hugged Hiro for his heroic deed. Hiro smiled saying, “Is your brother safe?”
“Yes he’s right over….” Before should could ge the words out Hiro collapsed in her arms from the exhaustion of the intense battle. She looked at him. His body was covered in blood and his face was badly bruised.
“Why would he do all of this for someone he barely knew?” She held him tight and began to cry. Her tears were of joy for Hiro had helped her rescue her brother and now she could return home.
