《Re:Asura》Chapter 26: Retaliation

Upon seeing that the three men were dumbstruck at the sight of Asura's stunt, he would have been an idiot to miss this opportunity! Gripping the 'Shadow Fire" with his right hand, Asura also prepared to unleash a 'Burning Gale' from his left hand. Just to be safe, he also utilized his 'Mana Sense'. Currently, Asura only had 50% of his mana remaining in his 'Origin of Life'.
"Whooosshh!"
Asura's sword slashed through the air, towards the warrior, causing a whistling sound in the air, and sliced through the warrior's arm, cutting through the flesh and bones. By the time the warrior had realized what was happening, his right arm was no longer attached to his body.
"GGUUUAAAAHHHH!!! MY ARM!!! AARRGHHHH!!!" Veins and muscle tissue could be seen hanging off the edges of the warrior's shoulder. Falling to his knees, he curled up, as if he was kowtowing, clutching at what remained of his right arm. Grabbing at his severed arm, the warrior crawled backwards, retreating from the battlefield.
Snapping out of his daze, the wind magus quickly drew mana from his 'Origin of Life', preparing to defend against Asura while the fire magus was preparing his spell. Once the fire magus was done with the preparations, he would distract Asura with razor wind attacks, and would then be finished off by the fire magus! However, he did not know about Asura's 'Mana Sense'!
The moment Asura utilized his 'Mana Sense', he had already realized that an enormous amount of mana had gathered in the fire magus's mouth!
"Master, you must be careful of that technique. I can sense a dangerous aura from it..." Choronzon warned.
"You don't say?" Asura retorted. Choronzon could only keep his mouth shut, afraid to distract his master from the fight.
Making a mental note to keep a close watch on the fire magus by using 'Mana Sense', Asura raised his left arm, releasing the 'Burning Gale' that he had been restraining the whole time. With a loud roar, the 'Burning Gale' charged towards the wind magus, instantly turning everything in its path to ashes.

The wind magus' face paled. Seeing that after Asura had used the 'Burning Gale' for the first time, he had deduced from Asura's burnt arms that the backlash was extremely high, and did not expect that Asura would use it again so quickly. In a desperate attempt to block the oncoming torrent of flames, he quickly released a burst of mana, hoping to deflect the crimson flames that seemed to have come out from hell.
Not even affecting the flames one bit, he did not even have the time to jump out of the flame's path.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" The black robes dissipated around the wind magus', revealing a middle aged man, before his flesh was consumed by the fire.
From Asura's 'Mana Sense', he could feel the mana surrounding the fire magus spike in density. Alarmed, he quickly retreated, increasing the distance between him and the fire magus.
"Since he's a fire magus, obviously the best course of action would be using a water spell. But, I didn't learn any water spells back in White Serenity School..." Asura's eyes narrowed, closely observing the fire magus in front of him, who was starting to grimace.
"To kill a goddamned kid, 2 of my friends had to die, while the other is now a cripple!" The fire magus' face was starting to glow red. "Now, I don't even know if I can still return to Lord Ho'Vah. Maybe after killing this demon child, I will run away and find a safe place to hide!"
Just then, he gave out a loud roar, causing flames to erupt from his mouth!
"'Ifit's Roar!' Even if he's a demon child, he definitely will not be able to withstand my most powerful technique!" The fire magus laughed in his heart, completely confident that the child would die, and a hint of greed appeared in his eyes. "And that strange black sword, it might actually be a treasure!"

"Are you shitting me..."
Looking at the vortex of fire flying towards him from the distance, Asura could tell from his 'Mana Sense' that even if he was to wring out all his mana to use 'Burning Gale', it wouldn't even contain half the power of what the vortex of fire had. This time, he knew that he was in real danger!
At the same time, Choronzon's echoed in Asura's head. "Master, quickly, block that spell with your Demon Avatar! The more you infuse your Demon Avatar with the power from the Demon Force, the more powerful it will become!"
Nodding, Asura searched within himself, and found the Demon Force which was still brimming with power. Using his mind's grasp to draw out a river of black gas into the 'Blade of Shadow Flame', he could feel the sword in his arm trembling, as if it was relishing in the taste of the black gases.
Instantly, the sword in Asura's hand started to give off a dark blue glow. Even without using 'Mana Sense', he could feel a strong killing intent radiating from the sword, as if there was a soul inside the Demon Avatar, wanting to cut down the enemy before him.
"Master, now!" Choronzon's low voice rang.
As the sword sliced through the air, the strange blue glow sprang out from the sword, and formed an arc, flying towards the vortex of fire!
As the dark blue arc collided with the vortex of orange fire, the air around them started to distort. The next second, the area around the collision exploded, causing waves of raw mana in the air to spread out from explosion, knocking down both Asura and the fire magus onto their backs.
When the explosion died down, Asura who had been infusing more of the black gases into the sword, quickly got up and launched the dark blue glow once more!
"Fuck, how can this hap-" Before the fire magus could finish, the dark blue arc had already reached him, cutting through his abdomen. Upon seeing the blue arc fly through the fire magus' body, Asura willed the 'Blade of Shadow Flame' to dissipate into black gas, before entering into his pores and return into the Demon Force.
Not even bothering to confirm whether the fire magus had died, Asura turned around to face the one armed warrior who had been crawling away the whole time.
"Where do you think you're going?" Asura coldly said. Black gases poured from Asura's left arm, condensing into a gigantic black arm.

Prime Magus of Earth
"In the beginning, I had no idea what was going on. My brother and friends were gone, my sight was gone, and yet I still saw things, things about this world that no one else knew. I'm not special, or gifted, anyone could have done what I did. I just got lucky, especially after everything that happened afterwards. Magic already existed, it always had. Humans just didn't know how to do it, didn't know how to nuture that small spark in them. Now you do." - Prime Magus of Earth, Alexander Sorin. November 2021 Update: So, it has been four years since I stopped working on this. Reading back, the first "book" is finished. It has what feels like an ending to an arc. Now it isn't a perfect story but I still like it and I can see myself starting the second book, might even this on Amazon or something. My biggest regret was never coming up with artwork for the cover though. Maybe I'll look into it.
