Volume 2 Chapter 22
Princess Oriel grunted and did not say another word. She too was feeling displeased. She wanted that seed as the fruit it bore would surely be beneficial to Aanuel, but who would have expected, an unknown Clan who suddenly waltz in and appeared out of nowhere would actually take it from her! Who wouldn't feel angry?!
Seventy million far exceeded her estimated price. Although she was a princess, there is still a limit to how much money she could take it out! At this moment, she wanted to drag out this pretentious youngster and beat him up to seal his mouth shut forever. However, for some unknown reason, much to her dismay although she was extremely enraged but the moment she saw the youth’s face, her anger subsided as if a barrel containing water has a hole on the bottom, it leaks out and disappeared.
Why? Princess Oriel couldn’t understand.
But someone didn’t share the same problem as hers. "Young master, don't reach for what is beyond your grasp. Do not ruin your future just because of your personal feelings. You might have a problem you would never be able to solve in the future," Lovelier’s cold voice rang out in Cian’s ear. It contained faint killing intent.
Cian sneered. He could not be bothered to respond to this pretentious woman. Whether you are the real Lovelier or not, doesn’t matter to me! This treasure is mine! Cian was bent on obtaining the Draconic Tongue Flower Seed. He had other, better uses for it.
"Is Elder Lovelier still interested at seventy million?" Elder Soma looked at Lovelier. He was pleasantly surprised for the price had far exceeded his expectations.
“Eigh—”
“Are you threatening me? Do you want to bet who wouldn’t be able to leave in this place alive…eh? Patriarch Lovelier? But from what I know the Patriarch of the Black Garden is never this young. Even if you had drunk the Eternal Youth Potion, aren’t you too young? Never heard that Eternal Youth Potion could be so effective…” As Lovelier was about to raise her bid once again, a mocking voice suddenly resounded inside her ear.
Her body trembled and shivered. She turned around and looks at Cian’s direction, which was currently looking at her with a faint smile. This bastard… could it be…
“What are you—”
Her gaze turned sharp but Cian made a hushing gesture. “Death Magic is not uncommon but Black Garden who was at odds with the Death Temple shouldn’t have touched Necromancy or any kind of Death Magic as it is a taboo, isn’t it, Patriarch Lovelier…?” Lovelier’s body trembled in shock and her face turned even paler. “Elder Lovelier?” Elder Soma called out. “N, no, I’m fine…” Lovelier bit her lip and nodded her head. She took a deep breath then suddenly stood up and spoke, “Since Young master Blood really wanted it, then this old lady wouldn’t fight for you for it any longer.”
“Thank you, Elder Lovelier. I heard so much about you before and as what they say, a thousand rumors are incomparable to meeting one in person. This younger generation thanks to the Elder for her graciousness,” Cian smiled warmly. You think you’re the only one who can give a threat? Did you really think of me as a soft persimmon?
“No, no, young master gives me too much credit. I hope young master has a time later; I wanted to invite you for a dinner in the 'Lilith’s Garden Everlasting Feast Hall' after the auction. I hope the young master can give me this honor,” Elder Lovelier replied with a warm smile. She looks like an elder who held a very good impression to a younger generation—so warm. But Cian can see hidden daggers hiding beneath this façade. He chuckled in amusement—although he was just bluffing earlier and testing the water as she didn’t know if she was really Elder Lovelier or not. But who had expected it would go so smoothly. So she indeed was a fake…

“Of course, I would glad to.” Cian grinned. Then, let's play...
Elder Lovelier’s smile stiffened and with a ‘thank you’ she sat back down, gnashing her teeth. This sudden change in event suddenly caught the people off-guard. For the Patriarch of the Black Garden to concede easily like this… how is this possible? What had happened?
Finally, no one competed again after Elder Lovelier conceded and the item fell on Cian’s hand without much trouble. He then received a metallic card, almost looking a credit card from the staff of the Auction Hall and placed it on top of his interspatial ring, transferring the needed amount and then handed it back to the servant who in return had given him the item. Cian, satisfied, opened the small wooden box and saw that the seed was really inside and his face showed a satisfied smile. He suddenly felt a glare and turned his head towards the source, only to find Elder Lovelier staring at him.
He waved his hand and wink at her, causing a Lovelier to have an urge to vomit out blood. This bastard…!
"Then, let's continue!" Elder Soma said lightly. The atmosphere suddenly became a lot more relaxed.
… …
After the small interlude, the auction proceeded successfully. Various different treasures such as armors, Skill Books, Combat and Magic Techniques, medicinal ingredients, etc., that caused people's eyes to be dazzled, began to appear on the auction platform one after another.
There was even once when Cian was somewhat stunned as he watched a little beauty that was pushed onto the platform. She was not very old, appearing perhaps around twenty-two to twenty-three years old. Her figure, however, had matured till it left one speechless. She was actually a human.
She had a small face, which was filled with timidness, immediately stimulating the male desires of those men in the auction ground who massacred all the time. One by one, they turned into wolves. Finally, it actually ended up with a high price of nearly five hundred and thirty thousand, causing Elder Soma on the platform to part his mouth and smile. Cian was actually hesitant on whether to vie for it or not but at the end, he didn’t do it. Not because the appearance wasn’t enough for him but he saw no promise or use on her.
She was neither a warrior nor someone talented in some aspect he needed. She could only be of use to warm one’s bed. Wasting money for it is just too absurd.
Cian sat on the soft chair and indifferently watched those buffoons around him. He closed his eyes and waited for something that could arouse his interest. During the auction fair, there were not too many unique items, which created an overly detonating atmosphere, appearing. Moreover, the people who were bidding were merely some people seated in the back. After the Draconic Tongue Flower Seed’s appearance, there doesn’t seem to be any good items again that followed. Even the strong factions in the front rows, who possessed a great amount of wealth, stopped bidding and just let the back row have their moments. They know that the other good things are coming and that would be their time to shine again.
“Well then, the next one was a slave coming from the Beastman Snake Tribe!” After Elder Soma’s voice rang out, the stage was then illuminated by lights and a young girl who has a collar on her was dragged towards the center. A girl roughly eighteen to twenty years old, with a beautiful emerald hair and a pair of green eyes. There were green scales on her neck and cheeks but it doesn’t affect her attractive beauty that even allured Cian.

However, her wrists had shackles on, and there was a magic restraining collar around her neck On her lower body, instead of legs was a long snake tail—a Lamia, this name appeared in Cian’s mind as he saw the girl. She had a ferocious glare on her as she looks at the people on the Auction Hall with hatred. It seems like this girl is quite a fighter… Cian grinned.
Noticing Cian’s expression, Ruka frowned. She suddenly felt a foreboding feeling. “Master, do, do you want…her?” she asked, hesitantly. Feeling as if her position is being threatened.
Cian turned at her, and seeing her worried expression, like a cat that had seen her master eyeing another cat and gotten jealous, he chuckled in amusement. “That’s right, however, do not worry, it’s not like I’m going to throw you away. They are not as important as much as you,” he muttered.
“… …” Ruka was immediately shut up. Her heart was overflowing with sweetness it can cause diabetes.
Elder Soma circled around behind the girl and smoothly pulled out a lock of that hair with a finger. Disgust flashed across the girl’s eyes. However, probably due to restrictions imposed on her, she couldn’t say anything nor struggle. Cian stared at her as Elder Soma continued his speech, “…Furthermore, as a female, this is a high-class item, it doesn’t just have value as a combat servant, it’s valuable as a cherished slave. Of course, the customer is free to tease and lick as well!” Elder Soma jokingly said, arousing cheers and cries from the audience. Are these people horndogs? Cian can't help but sook his head in helplessness. “Now then, let us start at fifty thou—”
“One million.”
Before Elder Soma could say the base price, Cian’s voice rang out.
Silence covered the entire hall. Not only Cian’s sudden bid, but also the amount scared almost all the people within the Auction Hall. Although the Snake girl was a quite a good slave, but its value had surely not reached one million, it hardly even reached that of five hundred thousand gold. But Cian actually directly bid one million in this kind of slave? All eyes immediately turned towards him once again. Then, they turned towards Ruka who was keeping her silence and couldn’t help but thought—ah, an impulsive lecherous young man. He already had a flower in his hand and yet he still wanted more…?
Lovelier was also among them. She looks at Cian and sneered. Tsk! Nothing but a pervert.
But Cian completely disregards their opinions and stared directly at the Lamia, who in turn also stared at him. Although they were angry, there were also, anxiety, fear, rage and many kind of complicated emotions reflected in her eyes as she glared at Cian. Cian smiled at her, and the snake girl’s eyes somewhat widened.
When she was captured, she had already seen many kinds of men and all of them shared the same gaze; they are full of lust. But for some reason, in Cian’s eyes, such feeling was absent. He was looking at her, with a pure and clear gaze. What’s going on? Is she hallucinating…? If not for that ‘kind’ of thing, why would he spend so much money just to buy her…? The snake girl bit her lips in frustration. Although, she didn’t want it but she had already accepted her fate the moment she was captured and brought in this land of the terrifying demons.
If it was in the Central, there still might be a chance that she would be saved by her companions. But in here, there are no suicidal people she knows that would come here in the Northern Border just to die. She tried to commit suicide but the collar and slave restriction had prevented her from doing so. And so, she could only face her terrible future with despair—
However, looking at the one who bought her, she actually sighs in relief. Instead of falling in the hands of disgusting potbellied and ugly demons, might as well fall into this handsome young man. Even if she became a plaything for him, at least, it was by someone with considerable good looks.
The bewildered Elder Soma stared at Cian and felt confused. Cian didn’t strike him as someone lascivious. Was he mistaken? Well, I guess in front of beauty, even a hero can become a pervert. As a man, he can’t say he couldn’t understand Cian’s action. Looking around, he then raised his voice after seeing that no one is going to fight for it. Probably because of the price... a million for a single slave is indeed quite a big writing.
“Thank you very much, Young Master Blood! A wonderfully large bid, one million! Are there any other takers? Are there?”
After a few minutes, without anyone talking, the gavel announcing a successful bid finally sounded.
“Congratulations! Young Master Blood wins the Snake Tribe Slave!”
“Thank you,” Cian smiled casually. Then, the Lamia girl was then escorted down the platform, then walking towards Cian’s direction. All this time, the Lamia girl didn’t avert her eyes from Cian, as if trying to see through him. But can she really…?
After a few minutes of waiting, as Elder Soma had resumed the Auction, the Auction Hall staff and the Lamia girl finally arrived at Cian’s location. The Staff handed Cian an Interspatial Card and he placed it on his ring, transferring the needed amount on the card, afterward he gave it back to the Staff.
“Thank you for Purchase Sire, you can now take her. What a lucky slave to be won by someone with the status as Young Master. Incidentally, the dress and magic restraining collar are a gift from us. Please be aware that there is the risk it will escape should the collar be removed.”
“Sure.” Cian replied casually. He then turned towards the Lamia girl and said simply, “Sit” while gesturing at a place just beside Ruka. With the restriction transferred into Cian’s hands via magic, the Lamia couldn’t disobey his order and obediently sat beside Ruka. She seemed to want to say something but the silence curse magic cast upon her was still activated and so, she couldn’t utter even a single sound.
Cian completely ignored her much to her dismay and continued watching the Auction. The Auction resumed and after the Lamia girl, there was still eight other slaves being auctioned. However, among them, Cian only got three other slaves. Two were female (A high elf and a human girl that seemed to be a mage), the other one was a robust and dandy-looking middle-aged male that looked like a Human Knight and seemed to be extremely powerful.
Although the bidding war got hotter and suspenseful, but Cian managed to obtain the three people while the Magic Beast slipped out of his hand. It seemed like a High Elf and a Dragon-type magical beast was extremely coveted by many people. He had also wanted the Magical Beast that looks like a combination of a dog and a lesser Dragon, called Earth Dragon, a 4th ranked Magical Beast. It was rare and powerful, being a 4th rank and all and also having the bloodline of a Horse Dragon. However, in the end, it slipped in his hands making him annoyed.
Although he was able to easily acquire the human knight and mage, the High Elf almost slipped in Cian’s hands due to the price reaching almost Ten Million, which caused Cian’s current wealth having a nose dive. Thus, in the end, he could only give up the 4th rank Earth Dragon which was a very good mount and pet.
At this moment, the gaze directed to Cian from the surrounding was already piercing. Aside from the Dragon Tongue Flower Seed, what Cian bought with a large amount of wealth was nothing but slaves and most were actually pretty girls. What is this man doing and wasting his wealth? Did he come here to find some pretty high-quality slave girls to play with? Well, indeed compared to the above-ground market, all the slaves sold in this Auction have far better quality. However, Cian didn’t really care. They can think what they want~
“…as for this juncture there was only two items left for the Auction today. And both of them came from the same person.” Elder Soma smiled happily. “Without further ado, let me introduce you the second last for today. It is an item from one of the legends of this Continent, a musical instrument once owned by the greatest Demon Bard, the Musician of Death…”
Elder Soma purposely dragged it out.
Musician of Death!!!
Another wave of discussion came from the crowd.

I have big plans for this world but we'll see if I get to stick around long enough to finish it.Enjoy! Notes: 1. My writing style is mostly script-like with some 3rd person-ish narrative sprinkled in, and it is VERY dialogue-heavy. 2. It can be pretty slow, as I tend to focus more on characters rather than action. 3. Since the story is set in Japan with Japanese characters, I will be using Japanese honorifics whenever the characters are interacting with each other.
